I've never been one of those manicure-every-week kind of girls. Love having my nails done, but I just never gotten into the routine of going in regularly. I go to a pilates studio a couple doors down from Ruby Nails, so I popped in after class one Friday for a quick mani. OH MY GOODNESS. I *immediately* turned into a manicure-every-week girl. A few reasons why: - The whole team at Ruby Nails is super friendly! - They have a fantastic color selection - there is something for everyone. - Their prices are SO reasonable. And for the quality service you're receiving?! It's awesome. - The salon is spacious and clean - I can't emphasize enough how much I appreciate a well-maintained facility. - A random detail - there are small sinks built-in to the countertops between manicure stations. Those little details are very smart! - They play Friends on TVs throughout the salon!! Could it BE any cuter? - They have a rewards program! Everything is linked to your phone number, so it's easy to get credit for your visits and they hook you up with a free mani the week of your birthday. Win! - Wonderful customer service. If you ever have any issues, they are quick to address them and do so in a way that leaves you feeling valued as a customer. I had slight chipping of my nails shortly after a manicure, and they fixed the problem SO fast. This was a one-time issue. This is the best nail salon in the city. It's super clean and my no-chip lasts at least 4 weeks, despite the grow out. They always do a quick and excellent job every visit. You also get a free manicure during your birthday week or $15 off your no-chip manicure. Highly recommend! read more

This nail salon is the best! I've been coming here since it opened and love it. They guarantee no chips but I've rarely had to use it because they last the whole 2 weeks. I had my wedding manicure done here, been here for bachelorette parties, and have times when I've come every 2 weeks for Months and ever experience is just as great as the first. I posted a review after a good visit to this spot but have to change it after a few bad experiences since - enough that I've stopped going all together. They are always busy, which is great for them but it comes at a cost to the customer - rushed service, rude interactions, clearly they're overwhelmed and not really interested in new, walk-in customers. I can't give this place enough stars!!! I came in 30 minutes before close and they were slammed. I desperately needed a manicure for a commercial shoot happening the next day. They said no worries and to just to take a seat and someone would take me. WELL, I ended up having the owner do my nails, and I had no idea until the end. She was incredible! Her name was Undra I believe, and she was SO nice and SO welcoming. She knew I was doing a commercial shoot, and gave me her personal phone number in case I needed a touch up before the shoot. They were technically closed by the time my nails were done, but she stayed with me and didn't make me feel rushed at all. I will definitely be going back. read more

I love Ruby Nails. I've been coming for regular mani-pedis since they opened, and I really enjoy the atmosphere they've created. Their loyalty program gives you an occasional free service. I've had great no chip services and my pedicures are always done well. Do they rush sometimes??? Of course they do!!! They are a popular and busy nail salon. I have been stunned by some of the rudeness that I have seen on the part of people who walk in with no appointment on a Saturday morning and expect immediate service. I call a day or two before to make sure I have a spot on Saturdays (especially in summer). They try to accommodate everyone who walks in, but sometimes it is just not possible. The color selection is huge, and the nail techs are very nice and mostly quiet. This is definitely my favorite nail spot. read more

I went to Ruby Nails on a recommendation - they are very out of the way for me, so I never would have found them otherwise. The first time I went I was very happy. The second time (yesterday), I'm sorry to report that I was incredibly disappointed with the experience. I went with a girlfriend, and we both got mani/pedis. I had two different technicians for my mani/pedi and my friend had one for both - all three were disappointing. My pedi gal seemed new (a few other technicians came over to her and appeared to be giving her guidance), and she reprimanded me for laughing with my friend (saying that it was making my legs shake too much, but I have a very hard time believing that my laughing was shaking me more than the massage chair I was in!). The women who did our manicures were both very rough with our cuticles (my technician just hurt me a bit, but my friend's tech actually drew blood!), but the tech who did my mani, Sara, was just straight-up rude and clearly didn't want to be there. I still tipped her 20% because that's just my nature, and I can't even express how disappointing it is when I tip the way that I'm supposed to when I don't get the service that I'm supposed to. So my answer is to simply never go back, and never recommend them to anyone. It's unfortunate because my nails look great, but you know what? Nail salons like this are a dime a dozen - find another. I can literally count on one hand the number of times I've gotten a mani/pedi by myself - it's almost always a fun treat with one or more girlfriends. So if you and your girlfriend are being shamed into silence because they're yelling at you to stop laughing - I mean, come on. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

This used to be my favorite nail salon. I guess they are annoyed by no chip manicures and pedicures. Whenever I come it and request no chip manicure and pedicure all the workers are reluctant to take it. This last time after the nail tech finished my pedicure, I sat in a chair where the manager lady started filing my nails for the manicure then the newbie tech walked by and she's like it's your turn to the newbie. She took the first opportunity to pass me off to the newbie. I didn't like this and I feel like since the owners gone the professionalism has gone down. I got a spa mani/pedi and requested simple nail art for both (specifically, my fingernails were painted to look like sides of a dice, and my toenails were half black and half white with a silver stripe separating the two colors). My toenails came out great, and the polish lasted for a month, which is why this review is 2 stars. My fingernails, however, were another story. During the mani, my nail tech cut my thumb cuticle and drew blood. The immediate result was that the rest of the process was painful and unpleasant, and for the next several days my cuticle was still painful due to infection and inflammation. Should this situation happen at a nail salon? Of course not. Could it happen? Yes, by having my cuticles cut I accepted some inherent potential risk of being injured. That said, being injured neither inspires my confidence in the staff at Ruby Nails nor makes me want to go back. Could Ruby Nail have offered some form of compensation as an apology? Likely yes, but I wasn't offered anything. To add insult to literal injury, the nail tech was clearly rushing toward the end because (1) several walk-ins showed up and the staff didn't want to turn them away, resulting in my nail tech going back and forth between me and a new customer; and (2) I had informed the staff in advance that I needed to leave by a certain time, and despite following their advice on when to come in, the time was insufficient. The overall effect of these circumstances showed in my mani, which was lower in quality than my pedi. read more

The first thing I noticed was how well kept, clean, and stylish the shop was. My hands are naturally very dry due to my eczema and Chicago's cold weather, so the woman doing my nails (who just so happened to be the manager) took great care of me. She took her time meticulously shaping, filing, cleaning my nails the way I wanted/needed and even suggest for only an additional $5 more, a special Vitamin E treatment for my dry skin. The hand and back massage following your nails was the cherry on top as I love to be pampered. Overall, my nails turned out just the way I wanted and I appreciate the personalized and attentive service. If I was just to make a small suggestion for improvement, it would be to add more no chip manicure colors for selection. Sometimes I'm really particular about what color I want and am sad when there isn't a plethora of selection I can choose from. Other than that, Ruby Nails is top rated in my book. read more

The staff is quite friendly, and add lots of little perks (beverages, shoulder massages) with still VERY reasonably priced services. So this is my go-to nail place for a few reasons. Although there are multiple (and even closer!) nail salons in my area, Ruby Nails stands out. With each manicure, they provide a shoulder rub (one of my favorite parts of the manicure). I also love that they have sinks in each station, so you don't have to get up to wash your hands. Their manicures always include an exfoliating scrub, and their pedicures include the scrub as well. I like that they rotate the scrub scents depending on the season. They also always have FRIENDS playing on Netflix with closed captioning, and background music as well. They also keep loyalty cards for you, so you don't have to worry about forgetting your card. You earn a free manicure for every 10 visits, and you get a free manicure on your birthday. The technicians have all been good. My last visit I got a girl who rushed through the whole process of my meni pedi, but I'll note that I did have a 7 p.m. appointment & they close at 8. I hadn't been rushed before and have been frequenting this salon for over a year so hopefully will not get rushed again. It is always unusually warm in the salon - so no coat needed. For me, the scrubs and shoulder rubs with service make this a place to keep coming back to. read more

So my gf and I came in last minute to get mani-pedi's after the Ribfest. We were warmly greeted by all the techs and they were able to take us right away. They were SO friendly and did such a great job. The girl who did my friends hands, I think she was the manager, was so accommodating and nice, the hostess (with the glasses) was just as sweet and they took really great care of us! My nails turned out wonderfully and they were especially attentive to my gfs nail as she'd previously had gels so her nails were kind of weak. I would definitely recommend this place and we'll definitely be returning. They also do a brief massage when you get a manicure and it's heaven! Scheduled an apt for a no chip mani and I unfortunately didn't get the mans name but he did an excellent job of taking his time and doing a great job. I really did not have a good experience here. It was unpleasant, and while the woman who did my no-chip manicure was cordial, my no-chip is completely chipped-- that's a chip on 6/10 fingers-- within ONE WEEK of the appointment. They cover two week touch-ups, but I don't want to go back and have this happen again, so I'm going to cut my losses and go to my usual manicurist. So much for finding a place in the neighborhood! This was BS for the price, service, and while this does not at all impact the rating I have given, for the love of god, change your music selection. read more

My first visit was average. My second visit was terrible. For my pedicure they trimmed the nails but did not provide the full service that many other places do. For my manicure it was a disaster. I had nails that extended past my finger tips, feminine medium length nails. She cut them down and into the nail bed. She did not round them as they had been. I look like I have childlike nails. I asked for a refund on the manicure and was offered $10 on $45 service. My fingers tips hurt, I have childlike nails, and now will go someplace else to get fake nails for the temporary to not be embarrassed. I will stick to the other local places read more

I'm beyond disappointment from my last visit. I was barely squeezed in for a call ahead pedicure. When I arrived the woman who took my call didn't even remember talking to me 5 minutes prior!? She gaveme a quick pedicure and when I mean quick I mean practically pulled off my cuticles instead of cut them. My cuticles were bleeding on multiple toes and still hurt til this day. I hate leavening bad reviews but this was just not a good manicure. I came in for a simple dip powder manicure, trying to find a neighborhood spot. It took well over an hour and half. Used to having it take half that time. I had a tip on one finger from a broken nail, and they offer no form of extension, which I found odd. The top coat initially put on was streaky and lumpy. They put a no chip top coat on that all peeled off within 24 hours. 4 days later and all my nails are chipping. It's not even worth going back to have it fixed there. I've never once had this happen with any dip. Dip lasts me 3 weeks always, would probably last 4 if my nails didn't grow out. It was also done completely different than anytime over ever had a dip, which I've been doing for about 3 years now. I'm unclear of their other services but I would not recommend this place for dip. A definite waste of $60 and will have to redo somewhere else. read more

I LOVE RUBY NAILS. This place is close to my work (I'm a bartender) so after getting cut early one Sunday I walked in. They accommodated me and did an amazing job. That day Dana (not sure if that's how you spell it) did my nails and I've been hooked ever since. I've had several different technicians work on my nails and each time it's professional and so meticulous! The owner even does nails and they all give great suggestions and work with you if you're unsure of what color to get. Today I had my birthday there and they were so helpful and took all 9 of us in a super timely manner. Made sure our drinks were always filled and as the birthday girl made sure I was finished first so I could spend time with my guests. Not to mention they are BYOB, do a great loyalty program and offered me a free massage for my birthday plus extras for all my guests. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Get your nails done here!!!!!! read more

Ruby Nails salon came as a recommendation from my daughter's friend. We had an appointment at 6pm for a no chip manicure. The place had a nice ambiance and is clean. I arrived 15 min early and they were able to fit me in for a pedicure as busy as they were. The spa chairs were really nice and not worn down. One of the best spa chairs I have sat in. The pedicure was really good and the best no chip manicure I have ever had. Though it is a bit far from where I live it is worth the trip. Prices are the same as most nail salons. read more

I went in with my friend after we got off work 3/9. We walked in the door at 6:09 pm they were to close at 7. We asked if they had time for 2 pedicures and the receptionist walked to the back and came back and said yes. She asked if we could pay before we got started so we did. $35 for a pedicure which is a bit high so I'm assuming it's going to be a great pedi. I broke my foot in January and hadn't had a pedicure since New Years so you can imagine that I was in rough need. We paid & picked our colors. My friend got started right away and I sat there in the chair soaking for about 10 minutes before my nail tech finally comes over and doesn't even acknowledge me. She was really rough and seemed super annoyed that I was even there. I get the annoyance of when people come in when it's almost time to close but it was a little under a hour. She started my pedicure at 6:26 & she was finished 6:39 pm. I am not exaggerating. My coworker was still having her nails trimmed and filed when she started my polish! I am an Aesthetician and I NEVER jeopardize a service because of time. I was assuming my tech was going to run out of the door since she rushed through my pedicure but she stood across the room on her phone the entire rest of the time we were there. My coworkers pedicure was finished at 6:53. She dried for a bit and we left at 6:58. I will not be recommending Ruby's nails to any of my friends or clients. It was the worst pedicure I have ever had & for $35 I would expect a bit more care and I would expect that my feet would feel at least a little softer then when I came in.
