On first impressions, quite a nice wee place tucked away at the end of a row of shops and restaurants near the station. Friendly welcome by the young chap waiting on us. Menu options were pretty expansive on pakoras/starters alone. One thing we all did find, was that the menu was slightly confusing and you were doing a lot of turning over and seeing what was where. Fi and I opted for a la carte & took the mixed pakora option (Chicken, Mushroom, Veg and Potato). Chicken Dopiaza and Staff Curry - which was a beautifully simple chicken curry. Pakoras took nearly 40 minutes to come out for a table of 8, which was quite a while. Ravenous by the time they arrived! Whilst quite tasty and well cooked, the thing that always lets things down... chilli!! Fish was spot on (stole Elizabeths!) but the veg and chicken were well nippy.. seriously nippy in fact. Main courses thankfully, came out pretty quick and they were beautifully presented and I have to say, rather tasty too. The Dopiaza was nippy again, but the staff curry was brilliant. Everyone really enjoyed their outing and before we knew it, it was already 10pm! I would never have thought to head out to Cambuslang for a curry, nor expect anything decent. That said, I think folk in Cambuslang have a wee gem on their doorstep in this place. No, it's not all fancy like the City restaurants, but what do you want... a great tasty meal for a reasonable price locally, or an average meal for a lot of money miles away? I know which one I want! We were informed the buffet was ready for us and made great haste to it, the starter selection was good, the usual favourites where all there and i liked the Chilli Chicken which was bang on spice wise and and they even had chips and pizza on the buffet ( most places i go to will charge extra for chips nice touch i thought). The starters done we headed for the mains again a good selection and some authentic veggy versions which my mate loved, i kept being called back to the buffet by the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken.mmmm Nobody had any room left for the sweets which is a shame as the chocolate fountain looked inviting. The restaurant itself appears to have new owners since the last time i was in and they had two parties down the bottom with a singer on a stage with star lighting etc which seemed to be going down a storm,we were informed entertainment was a regular thing on friday /saturday nights. They do an extensive takeaway menu as well - not that I've tried it. All the staff are fantastic too - if only the place looked a bit better!!!

Those fluffy chips, sharp cheese and delicious mild chicken tikka chunks worked like a massive cuddle and I was so happy we ordered them. The Bad - Fish pakora. It looked like frozen chunks of fish and the batter didn't even coat the entire pieces. It was overcooked and chewy with no flavour. I had one piece and gave up. The Average - The chicken chasni had lovely flavours and was on the hotter side of medium but it had hardly any chicken in it and came across as a little stingey. The vegetable pakora was nice. Not great. Not bad. Just some nice vegetable pakora. The Peshawari naan was super sweet. This isn't my favourite dish because I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but the actual naan bread tastes pretty good and wasn't overly doughy. Overall our food was a bit hit and miss. I'd been recommended Chanda Cottage by a couple of people for the next time we fancied having a little buffet for dinner, but it's not convinced me to change from our usual place. I can't guarantee I won't be back for those chips though when I need a good comfort food hug though.

So, looking in from the outside, you wouldn't know that it was an Indian restaurant. But when you walk in and smell it, you'll know. Portions were a little small so expect that you'd need to get a few things to get a full meal out of it. But they are appropriately priced for the portion size. They serve food here tapas-style and I believe you are still meant to share them so the idea is that you get a lot of dishes and eat as you drink copious amounts of beer. The one thing that made this place stand out was their service. It was amazing! During my meal, their card machines broke down and, as a result, I didn't have a way to pay for my food. The manager then comes up to me and says, "It's our fault. Don't worry about it." To be clear, this is only something I'd see in small-town America but never in a major city. So I was surprised that in Scotland's largest city, they were so trusting. (Really earning their reputation as the friendliest city in the UK). I was so touched that I promised I'd return to pay for my meal. I even kept my receipt so they'd know what to charge me. I came back the next morning, paid my bill, and, even though it's not required at all in the UK, I left a big tip as a thank you for trusting me and being so accommodating. When I come back to Glasgow, I will definitely come back.

My son and niece opted for the buffet for £8.95 each and they loved it.I had a Ceylonese korma and it was lovely with just the right amount of meat and sauce. It is a small, cosy restaurant and the owner was very courteous and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant highly and will be going back again soon. It is not licensed so if you want alcohol you can take your own :)
