However, behind the slightly crass exterior lurks a genuinely enjoyable Indian restaurant which my boyfriend (who lives nearby)raves about. What makes the Pearl of India so enjoyable is the way the staff makes you feel like a valuable regular, even if this is your first visit. The level of attention given to customers can be slightly overwhelming at times. After briefly hinting that he was thinking of going to the restaurant for Christmas dinner, my boyfriend's dad found himself harranged by three members of staff, a diary book and a selection of Christmas menus for a good twenty minutes, before having to ask them (politely) to leave him alone. Perhaps he should have expected it really - he was probably the only person to query having Christmas dinner here (what about turkey & all the trimmings?!) As far as the food goes, it has quite simply the one of the finest chicken pakora in Glasgow and that alone is worth the trip! Yum yum.

The food however, my god the food, the two of us that went ordered so much and really couldn't stop eating, we waddled out after I definitely will go back now that I know where it is

While we waited for our Tandoori chicken, 2 chef special chicken dishes, paneer Goa, Lamb bhuna and several nans, we shared a fish pakora, poppadoms with chutneys and washed it down with ginger beer!! The fish was delicately spiced and served with a salad and not oily. The food was ready in good time and very well priced. When we got home we had an amazing feast!! In this area this has to be one of the better Indian take away / restaurant by a long shot, by the look of the dining room it has not been decorated since it was last used as a pub. If your here for a take away best to phone in advance as sometimes they do take ages, always check your order before leaving as they do mistakes all the time, my last meal here was the best ever where l had a curry that contained king prawns, chicken pieces, lamb and beef with vegetable rice and nann bread with chopped curried beef through it. After having the meal my partner said ( this is not what l ordered you) and there was me thinking that she ordered it as a surprise for me.

The service wasn't particuly speedy or good (they were very puzzled that one of our group wanted popadums with his main, not as a starter and that we weren't ordering starters) and indeed proceeded to deliver the popadums as a starter - awkward as no one else had a starter. Beer prices around average for an Indian restaurant. The keema naan was really nice though, with a proper layer of keema in the middle of the naan. The mince vindaloo was also very tasty, really hot too. However the Tikka Masala looked very similar to the korma which was slightly off-putting. In a city full of very good and excellent Indian restaurants, I'm afraid I can't recommend Little India - however it's decent enough.

I do it all the time:/ Well today I decided to forget "new and cool" and pop in for a £4.90, 2 course lunch deal. Pakora and a curry with accompaniment for £4.90! Pretty good deal for the cost of a soup and a sandwich in some places. Have to say the food was well prepared and delicious and the service was more than adequate, so I'll have no hesitation returning... :)

Since the nearby New Pearl of India was done up to resemble a lottery winners living room, the Shezam has struggled somewhat to hold on to its loyal band of regulars. But to be fair to it, it has survived against all odds. And I have heard that on a Thursday night you can get a buffet for a pound if buying another full price one! It doesn't really matter if it's good or not, it's a pound! I'll be back for sure.

As you can imagine, a business that has been around so long has a legion of regulars, and has definitely earned each and every one. Nomi is the kind of business owner who is all about his customers. He loves a bit of banter, and is always keen to make sure you've enjoyed your meal, and to find out if and how service can be improved. The food itself is always fresh and tasty, and can be made more or less spicy at your request (excellent for those who aren't satisfied until they have a volcano in their mouths, as well as the shy of spice). The selection is to die for, and the Shezan is also one of the few places where you can actually order gajrela for dessert - so yummy. And just so you know, you can have speciality Indian teas instead of the bog-standard tea for the end of your meal. Tis definitely the best Indian restaurant to be found in the Mount Florida / Battlefield area. Get on down there and partake!

Service always comes with a smile and the waiting staff were really helpful explaining some of the unfamiliar dishes. The cafe is brightly decorated, very 'funky' looking and dare I say almost 'hipster' which is not what you'd tend to find in your local Indian Cafe. The food is traditional, authentic and vegetarian and hasn't got that restaurant taste to it. What I mean by that is that it tastes like something you'd make at home (if you were any good at cooking curries that is), which, for me is the best!! Everyday the Dhaal and Sabji's change which ensures the food is fresh and seasonal. The portion sizes are huge and for the money its outstanding value. If only this place was a little closer to home, I'd easily be there at least once a week for my dinner. Yum!

The server told us what table to go to rather than escorting us there, which was a bit fast-foody. Poppadums are given one per person when you declare your buffet interests, not unlimited on the buffet itself. The rice is lovely. The naan tasty but greasy. Beef curry was excellent, very soft beef. Garlic chilli chicken very tasty too, as was the garam masala. Overall it's a really solid curry house - however the properly old school decor and toilets may put you off. This isn't fine dining by any stretch of the imaginiation, just a good, solid Indian buffet.

Absolutely delicious pakoras . The main courses (about 7 at least) are all well labelled and the chef is always more than willing to explain how they are cooked and the ingredients. With most Indian restaurants , desert is usually a small selection, including mango kulfi , which is very tasty! I would also recommend a jug of mango lasthi , a drink made with Indian yogurt and mangos. The only downside of this place is the toilet is down a narrow flight of stairs. The price is great , food awesome, staff delightful! What are you all waiting for, give it a try!

This is the mark of a good restaurant. I know I should have grown out of finding this amusing some time ago, but alas. Anyhoo, the restaurant it's self is a good side yet still manages to be very cosy, homey and ultra comfortable. The chairs are heavy, well cushioned and more than a little difficult to manoeuvre over the REALLY thick carpet. The lighting is nice a subdued, there' s inoffensive and fairly quiet Indian background music and - me and the boy's personal favourite bit of decor - some big massive tropical fish tanks separating the small takeaway waiting area and the main restaurant. The restaurant is always very well staffed with friendly and non-intrusive individuals. I reckon, this is due to its dual status as a takeaway so they can man the phones etc without causing delays in the restaurant area. Now for the food. Oh, the food. It's always well cooked and spiced just the right amount. Though, beware the spiced onions, they are deceptively spicy and very good. These are brought to you free of charge while you wait on your starters. Yum. The meat is always fresh and tasty, with the lamb often being my top choice. The portions are massive, especially the side order of garlic nan bread. It really was a platter. This is amazing, though it does mean you'll probably have to share once everyone else witnesses it's glory. Tut tut. As for the beverages there's a great selection and at fairly good prices too, but I'd recommend the good old bottled Cobra. Furthermore, if you can't be bothered making yourself presentable enough to sit in you can always takeaway by either collection or delivery. No excuse.
