The people here are ace. I was enticed in by an awesome deal they have - you get a bowl of black lentil daal, with a side salad and wholegrain chapati for £3.50. Total bargain!!
Unfortunately, when it arrived, it had cream in it, and being vegan, this wasn't going to work for me at all. This of course was completely my fault because I hadn't asked - I had just assumed it would be vegan, as their other daals usually are.
But they were SO NICE about it! They didn't make a fuss, they were completely understanding, and immediately brought me a different daal, with no dairy, and didn't even charge me for the first one, which is pretty cool given that it was my fault in the first place.
The other daal was delicious, just the right side of spicy, with lovely fresh coriander on top, and filling - just right for a drizzly autumn day. The service is super quick, and friendly. And I'd say that if you're used to eating dairy, you would love the black lentil daal - it was very creamy and rich.
I also pop in here sometimes for their take away deal. You get a meal for 2 for £8.50. It's cold and you heat it up when you get home, so again, you get your food really quickly. You'd think with all this cheapness that the quality would be compromised, but it's not - the food is really high quality and very good indeed. The portions are small on the take away deal - last time I bought it I ate the lot myself, like the total curry grubber that I am. But I was really hungry! For the vegans amongst us, generally their veggie options are vegan too, as they don't use butter.
It's an excellent wee place. read more
