Watch out if you love your baby (that's what I call my car) as much as I do! Seriously, I understand their deals are tempting, and trust me when I say I'm a deal hunter ;) I paid extra for the Armor All on the tires, they only put it on one side of the car (the side I was watching while they washed). Anyhow, so literally, ten minutes after I left the place, there was a hail storm. As far as I know, all car washes will re-wash your car at no charge if it rains on the day you washed it; so I went back the next day. Manager was good, he said no problem. THE PROBLEM WAS THE EMPLOYEES. They seemed upset that I brought it back and that I told the manager they didn't do the wheel shine completely. They even questioned me about why I brought it back. One of the guys scratched my car and stood in front of the scratch until I got into my car. Long story short, I had to pay over $100 somewhere else for the "deal" I got here to buff the scratch out. They almost couldn't get the scratch out :( Also, I could've done a better job on the inside with Windex, and I did. When I got home, I wasted a bunch of paper towels cleaning the inside, which I had also paid for. Yes, they do a great job washing cars. However, they also have sticky fingers. Today, after an immaculate washing, we noticed my son's iPod was missing. This was not the first time something like this has happened. After my kindle went missing after a wash I chalked it up to just misplacing it but now I know that this has been too many coincidences. I, of course, wouldn't normally leave valuables lying around but sometimes you forget and you hope that you could rely on the honesty of others. I will never go back to Ruby's and suggest you don't either if you want to keep what belongs to you. read more

I needed a car wash, bad! Yesterday, while I was driving down California enjoying the beautiful day, I see "Hand Car Wash $8." Was it a 'Godsend? Who knows, but for 8 bucks, I entered, quickly. A middle eastern guy, and a little mexican who didn't speak any English, directed me to a counter. Ok, I walked that direction, and met a man wearing a suit, who I presume was the owner. He did indeed confirm that a "hand car was" was only $8. SOLD! While I was waiting, I noticed that there were never less than 3 men working on my car. Even the owner in his suit jumped in to help for a minute. They spent every bit of 20 minutes washing the exterior, cleaning the interior, and then drying my car. Being the numbers geek that I am, I started doing the math in my head. Hmmm, how can this business be profiting from an $8 car wash? Three men, at let's say $6 an hour, and they spend 20 minutes on my car...ok, that's $6 in labor right there + water, and other costs. Who knows how the profit margin plays in, but they did a hell of a job washing and cleaning my car. I'll definitely go back. read more

Although this place is right on my route to Target, and I have passed it many times., it was Frank M.'s review which prompted me to stop. I had been in the habit of taking my baby to Norwood for its bath, but Ruby's is much closer and $3.00 less. I have to say, it is the best $8.00 car wash my car has ever had. It looks as if it's been polished and waxed as well as washed. The interior is spotless and they even got the winter gunk and salt out of my floor mats. I am very "car queer", so a good wash really makes my day. I went there on a weekday, so it was not at all busy. Norwood usually has more of a wait and sometimes an incredible line around the corner, I don't do lines on foot nor in my car if I can avoid it. I may just have to go out and buy some fuzzy dice to celebrate. Thanks, new owner! read more

Thank the lord: UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!! Once I found out that ruby had a new owner, I had to check it out for myself. Yes, I was a bit skeptical since the old owner sucked, was never open, and had old equipment. To my surprise, the whole place was remodeled and new equipment was installed. Also, there were a ton of workers washing and drying my car. The owners are very cool and friendly, we got to talking while my car was getting washed. It took me a year to write this review, but I keep thinking about it. Long story... went to ruby for a car wash. Keep feeling like someone was staring at me. Sure enough every time I looked up one of the guys washing my car was going out of his way to turn around and stare at me. He looked like he was maybe hungover or on drugs. Which whatever I don't care how you live your life just don't make others feel uncomfortable. So whatever I left with creepy vibes and just told myself I won't go there again. Fast forward months later I was walking my dog (same neighborhood) and I see a short guy walking towards me. I move to the side trying to put space between me and the guy walking towards me eyeballing the hell out of me. He continued to make a b line my way even though I was obviously trying to get out of his way and put space between us. He walks by me so close that we almost brushed shoulders. He said something that I didn't understand and kept walking thank god. It was then I realized it was the creepy guy from the car wash. Ladies beware. $10 for a SUV. Clean interior, sparkling exterior, no brake dust on the wheels, no bug carcasses left on the grill, insides of the doors wiped down. $10. I used to pay $38 for pretty much the same at the AutoSpa in Maryland. I am very, very happy with $10. And so what they don't offer accouterments like Tire Wet? I carry my own. They did a great job. HOWEVER, not wearing masks or wearing them part way on your face is not cool.

Despite there being a line at times, the car guys are quick and efficient when cleaning your vehicle. You can tell they take pride and care with the work you do - and the value is wonderful. I have a shed-monster of a dog, and they've never had any problems getting the pet hair out. read more

My car is plenty broken-in, so I'm perhaps not as finicky as some on the fine details, but found no flaws in my recent experience. I drove up to Ruby on a Monday morning, and had no wait to get my CR-V cleaned inside and out for $10. It was extremely dirty, I have to say. There were from 3-4 workers on the task for at least 15 minutes, and they even removed my snow brush and cleaned that off. You can't really see much from the outside, but it looks like they have room to do several cars at once in a large garage, and there's a clean waiting area in corner where you can space out or watch your car get clean. read more

I often shamefully come in looking like I'm driving Fred Sanford's car and it comes out looking as close to brand new as possible. Unlike other places these guys work tirelessly to do everything by hand which means hard to reach places aren't forgotten and details are attended to that might otherwise be overlooked at any other place. There is a bit of a wait (plan for 10-20 minutes), but there's a place to sit and watch (if you're into that) and overall the inexpensive price (10 bones for the basics!!!) can't be beat for what you get. This is an excellent Chicago car wash, located near the Lakeview/Roscoe Village area. I've been going to this spot for about a year to get my car washed, and noticed the small business has recently changed ownership. They now charge $8.00 for an interior and exterior wash, and do a fantastic job and cleaning the entire car. The carwash is a little hard to find, so keep an eye on it as it's just about a block north of Irving Park road on the left side of the street. If you happen to notice the garage door is closed, don't pull away. Simply pull your car right up to the door, and it will automatically open. No less then 5 guys were washing my car during the last visit. My car had tons of snow, dirt, as well as ice all over it, and the guys got it all off. If you have anything specific you want cleaned off the car-it's not a problem. I asked the guys to please wash off the door jams, and get the floor mats good, which they did without hesitation. On a busy day, you can it will take about 10 minuets to get your car washed, which is pretty fast. It's also pretty cheap as far as car washes go. read more

New owners- hooray and kudos. I Went to this car wash many years ago and it was convenient but not great. In the years that followed I had tried to go on several occasions but they were never open!! In the winter we all know that when a 40 degree day hits, a car wash is a must! I figured I would give Ruby's another try since its so close. I am glad I did- Not only were they open (yea!) but it looked like they had all new equipment. I was told they were under new ownership. they took their time and seriously cleaned and dried every nook and cranny including inside where you pump gas which I dont think has ever been washed but needed it. Prices are fair, place is clean, and the car looked so good- inside and out. So thank you new owner- I will be back. read more

They did a reasonably good job washing the car. The price was decent as well. $18-24 depending on car size and options. Not bad for a hand car wash. It did take a little while but there was a line. The place is not fancy, no frills, which is fine. The waiting area could be improved. Couches were not very clean. Whatever. I would go back. read more
