Tasty and surprisingly not greasy or over salted. Ordering for delivery was easy. I haven't been here for a couple of years so not sure how it is inside anymore. The food was still hot on arrival and all items were packaged well. No spills. We had shrimp lo mein, shrimp foo young, BBQ ribs, shrimp fried rice with wings and shrimp rolls. All pretty good. My mother enjoyed her lunch.

Bourbon chicken...just like Cajun King at the Plymouth meeting mall used to make. I mean what a throwback...what a novel concept to have to add back a fan favorite after a couple decades gone by.

The Hunan Wonton - fried and delicious

Have you ever seen the movie Oldboy? There is a scene where a prisoner is fed wontons for twenty solid years in a row every day or weekly (watch the film- its a good one). He later escapes and in order to find clues to find the people that incarcerated him searches out for the same wonton he has been eating all those years. Well folks, I too have been searching out the best wonton in all the land! Under very different scenarios mind you but Eureka it has been found!! The hunan wontons are the key detailed in picture below. What a tasty fried wonton with o such delicous meat inside. They are bathed quite lavishly in hunan sauce but you can always drain out the excess sauce that pools at the bottom of the container. I also tried the Seafood Wor Ba soup. I would most compare this soup to an egg drop soup but with shrimp, pieces of imitation crab cut up, tiny pieces of losbter? or is this some form of crawfish? You got me... The soup is a nice alternative choice from the run of the mill soups from most chinese take out restaurants but I would not rush back to order it. Lastly, I ordered the General Tso's Shrimp. There is a ton of sauce on these but I feel like this is the norm in all chinese restaurants plow the sauce on because that's what American's want? The Shrimp itself are very good if you can find a piece not drenched in sauce or ask for the sauce on the side. Well there it is...try the hunan wontons. Warning, after trying them you will be highly critical of all other wontons that enter your mouth! And as always people SYOY!! Until next time. Detective Mike.

This is my second visit to this restaurant this week. It speaks volumes since I'm quite particular about authentic cultural foods. My first visit was random. I had a taste for Chinese food so I knew I would get it but where. I've visited a few places in the Roxborough/Manayunk area and it was decent. I was at Target and I saw the bright red lights that spoke to me...come into Ruby Chinese Restaurant so I immediately yelled it. It didn't have the best reviews or the four star minimum that I like to use to gage whether or not I'd patronize that business. Needless to say it was three stars but I was right here. I took a chance The best chance I've taken in a while. I order the shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp times two for $2 extra. It was delicious and fresh. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the rice was tender yet firm. I have decided it's the best shrimp friend rice ever and I've decided this will be my go to Chinese restaurant. Come by and try for yourself. Today I'm getting beef and broccoli but instead of steamed rice, I'm going with, you got it, shrimp fried rice with an egg roll to top it off. I spoke too soon, my food came out wrong of course they remade it but now my rice and egg roll wasn't hot ugh... I just had her give me a fresh egg roll cause I don't have time to wait for fresh shrimp fried rice despite me paying extra. That was a bit of disappointment of course so I bumped the stars down by one.

Soft, barely cooked Tofu that should have been crispy!

We order through Uber Eats. Very inconsistent quality. At times, they will send absolutely inedible food. Sometimes good quality. Sometimes terrible. Tonight terrible and should never have been served.

I went to this Chinese restaurant on a nasty winter day due to the location being in the Ivy Ridge Shopping Center. Also, (it's located right next to the wine store lol). I got the beef and broccoli lunch special with wonton soup. The wonton was good and hit the spot for a cold winters night however, it came with only two flimsy wontons where most other restaurants offer more and include sliced meat for extra flavor. The beef and broccoli was not good or fresh. The beef tasted like mystery meat and broccoli was soggy and tasted like leftovers. I will never go here again. I like my Chinese food fresh and tasty.

The inside is fairly basic but not in a cheap way. Service was a bit slower due to how busy they were, but it wasn't bad. The dishes that come out of the kitchen look like they could be served in an upscale restaurant. My orange chicken was great, but you do need to order rice separately. My husband's beef and onion had a LOT of onion, and much of it was still on the plate when he finished. He enjoyed it though. One of my sons ordered a chicken dish that was just a large plate of chicken pieces with nothing else, not even a sauce. We both thought it was too dry and boring. My second son had lo mein though and really liked it. The scallion pancakes were also some of the best I've had in a long time. They were thick and not too greasy with a crisp outside and soft center. I just wish they had more scallions/flavor. The prices were higher than what we are used to, but they're probably in line or even lower end for a big city. Four of us ate for $100.

Booth seating was comfortable and room to move around. Started with a mojito and margarita both were light and refreshing. Placed an order for the dumpling in chili oil and shrimp spring rolls. Service was so quick we were able to make it to our next appointment on time. Bathroom rating: 4.5/5

This was my first time meeting her, but it felt like I have known her for some time. She recommended something for me to try next time -- the "Fresh EarthV Trio (V)" a popular classic Northeastern dish. I'm definitely adding that to my list. What keeps me coming back? It's the consistency -- the service, cost, portion, and most importantly, the flavor. After my shift at work, I genuinely look forward to that first bite of my Dry Chili Pepper Tofu. (Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
