Dear Rubio's corporate office. I hope the below review will be presented as part of a larger powerpoint deck, so leadership can see what real feedback is like, as you are likely want you to win back former customers. Many of the Eubios that I used to visit years ago are now closed. But this location was on my path, and I had time between meetings, so I thought I'd stop in. I had not been to a Rubio's in nearly 3 years. Now that I work with clients near this location.I thought this could maybe be a regular stop for me. But sadly, today's visit was my first in the very long time. And it's my last. Even a $2.50 taco needs to have substance. The fact that you offer a 2 taco mean with a drink for $7 implies that a 2 tacos can be a decent portion for an adult. But that's, but that could not be further from the truth. Because it does not come with rice or beans, or even a small handful of chips, I mistakenly assumed the 2 tacos would be decent even if not overly filling. I ordered the meal to go and as soon as they handed me the bag I knew something was off here. I've never, ever in my life carried out a meal that weighed so little. I mean, it weighed so little that wasn't even sure there was actually a taco, let alone 2 in there. And sure enough, it was hard to identify much fish or shrimp in either taco. I know you could say, what do you expect for $2.50 each ($7 for the pair with a soda), but I do not expect to finish my meal and truly be hungry enough to now have to go seek out another meal. That has never been the case for me. Charge a fair price and give a fair portion, and don't take advantage of customers. Because when they don't come back, you lose out and what could have been a big lifetime value of regular visits. read more

Unfortunately, this will be a place I will never eat at again. I went because I saw a FB ad about a fish and chips for $7 and if I signed up for texts I would get $5 off. I ordered myself the fish and chips , guacamole, and a burrito for my son. The link that texted me provided an error saying this site was moved or something. So right off the bat without my $5 off, I felt tricked. Then, the lady we placed our order with was very nice . No issues with her. But, from food to container, container to bag, bag to hands, my food was lukewarm. How? If it was just made , how is my food lukewarm and not hot? The fries would have been good if they were hot and crispy but they were warm and soggy. I picked up the fish and had so much grease on my hand that I had to wipe it off . The fish also warm. Not crispy , not hot , but warm and soggy. I was so disappointed that I went to the restaurant next door to order me food. I did not try the fish. I tried the flavorless chips and guacamole . My son did not like the chips but probably because they did not have any salt. He did however like his burrito. And that is the reason why they are getting a star. I never did eat my food . It's in the fridge now as we speak on its way to the place where food goes to die, the trash. The restaurant was empty and now I know why. The cashier tried to get me to download the app for rewards and whatnot but, I declined. I don't plan on event going to another Rubio's for the remaining time I have left in this earth. There are some great deals here! I used to go to the desert ridge location in high school all the time (before it closed) but have only been back a couple times to Rubio's locations since then. I was very excited to see both that they had a free kids meal deal going on Thursdays this month and that they have sweet potato tacos, one of my faves! Ordered online and my husband picked up. Pickup was quick and easy. I got the sweet potato taco place with black beans and chips. I also got a few salsas to try which were all good. The crunchy corn in the tacos was my fave. I got my son a kids quesadilla. It came with 2 sides and a drink which is a great value! He loved the quesadilla. Will for sure be back now as it seems like they have some pretty great deals and good quality for fast-ish food! read more

My wife really wanted to try Rubio's Costal Grill. Too bad our experience was way short of our expectations. First, the good: the lady taking our order was very friendly and helpful. The salsa bar was really good with four types of fresh salsa and two bottles of prepared seasonings. Fresh jalapeños and other condiments were a good sign. Now the bad: the time between ordering and being served was 25 minutes, way too long to wait. Our order was a fish and chips, a two fish especial taco plate and some chips with queso. Overall, the fish was overdone. The corn tortillas were 6" round with a little 4" piece of fish hiding inside. Very little taste of fish. The fish and chips were a disappointment. The fish was overdone and the fries were a soggy mess. The queso was served in a paper bowl and looked like a bowl of mayonnaise. The taste was decent but the presentation was unappetizing. The tortilla chips were served in a pre-prepared bag and were cold. After we ate, my wife said that Culver's has a much better fish and chips and that's where she will be going from now on. The $28 we spent goes much farther at Culver's. Sorry Rubio's Coastal Grill. We won't be returning. read more

The most recent two visits the staff has forgotten items. So double check your bag if you decide to eat here! The food is good, but not great. The salsa bar is ually just a bar with empty bowls. Stopped in for something fresh and light. Saw they had a special for $5 off $25 and we both decided on the chips, I opted for the Mexican street corn for 0.75 up charge and worth it, husband got the beans and was good to dip the chips with. Husband got the shrimp trio $13.99 and I got the original beer batter fish tacos and 2 small drinks. With the $5 off it was $30 bucks not bad and they have a salsa and toppings bar of course. The salsa was not spicy at all everything else was good. Good choice for a hot Summer day when you don't want to cook at home and want something other burgers or pizza! I ordered through a delivery service and ordered a basic burrito with just rice beans and meat and a soda and they ignored the modified instructions and while I got the item refunded at the end I still ended up spending $15 extra dollars to basically get 1 soda delivered and not eat because I'm allergic to many of the items they added. Very frustrating there's no recourse to take on either end other than just refunding that item. This used to be my go-to for shrimp tacos. I moved out of state and came back for a visit and came here for the shrimp tacos verde. The food was horrible. One taco ordered separately had no toppings, just sauce. Literally 1/4 c sauce and when it was opened from foil wrapping sauce oozed out everywhere. It was like soup. The other two tacos had less sauce but they were not good either. They topped with lettuce instead of cabbage )which I requested). But th lettuce was old and tasted bad. The street corn was pretty much corn with may and way to much tajin on top. It makes me sad to say this, but I will not go back. Save yourself a trip and $25! read more

Store#57 Took forever to receive our food. The food was cold except for the Mexican rice. The sauce was diluted with water or another liquid and suspect they did so because they were running low on sauce. As evident by the empty salsa bar. The floor and tables were dirty. Oh my...never has there been an opportunity to provide such high praise for a quick meal. If such a thing as perfect was real, Rubio's nailed it. The options to customize are so appreciated being able to do both vegan and low carb, with my favorites being: California Bowl , Cauliflower Rice , NEW Salsa Guajillo , Roasted Chipotle Salsa, Jalapeno and Carrots, Jalapeno Citrus Hot Sauce . The bowls, the options, the wow salsa is absolutely, positively delicious and done right every single time. First time I didn't run into cilantro put into everything and able to customize the removal if needed. Tasty, diet friendly, spicy (or not), this is definitely my new favorite. I used to go to Rubios many many moons ago - not really a conscious decision to stop going - it just happened. Then I saw that Chef Richard Blais was doing a street taco collaboration and I just had to try! Hula Hula Carnitas (my favorite of the bunch) Blaised and Glazed crispy chicken (2nd fav!) Ancho po-boy shrimp (not really a fan of this one) The true stand out of the meal was the mexican street corn! This dip was fantastic, but the "large" is so small that I would hate to see the small....unless there was an error in what was given to us.... Sean, your "team lead", isn't very welcoming and probably should be removed from his job. My boyfriend and I came in at 630. We were not even said hi to but abruptly confronted in a rude passive aggressive tone by Sean saying that we were gonna be waiting 25-30 minutes for the influx of orders. I said okay and he rolled his eyes and sighed. I asked him if we should go somewhere else and he didn't have much to say. We continued to order and wait . Sean turned away customer after customer and had the WORST attitude. He repeatedly was also rude to DoorDash customers even saying to one" Well you're on the second page so" and chuckled. We heard Sean take a phone order, with more attitude and throwing his hands around obviously annoyed with the rush of dinner service I guess ? I've tried this Rubio's a couple of times and I'd say it's a step above some of the other fast food chain Mexican spots around. The interior is pretty nice, when I came in it was very clean and organized, they clearly take the time to push chairs in, wipe down tables and all. My girlfriend is a cheese quesadilla expert and she does say it's one of the better ones that comes from a fast food place. I've tried a couple of burritos and they're not bad, a pretty big size and the ingredients seem better quality than comparable spots. It seems the fish tacos are probably the main draw here. Came for the fish taco Tuesday special (which is a great deal by the way). I wish they had this special on more days than just Tuesday, for this reason I don't get to indulge in it too often. The staff at this location were good, not excellent, not terrible... just good. The food was hot, made to standard and delicious, the biggest turn off was cleanliness at this location. Every surface seemed dirty, and the flies everywhere certainly helped to curate the image. This location definitely needs to do something about the fly problem, it was honestly very difficult to enjoy our dinner with constantly swatting off the flies. There were flies 10 we could count between the wall and the next table over (which is a lot!). Every two seconds my husband and I had to flap off a fly off either us or the food. I was beginning to regret not just eating the food in the car (we would have eaten outside, but at about 118 degrees it's not really feasible). We also noticed the booths and tables weren't the cleanest and the window/floor area was filthy. It's clear the spots all the windows were from the recent monsoon storm, but that was about 2 weeks ago. This location is in desperate need of a deep clean and the flies have got to go. read more
