My husband and I went to check out Travolata for date night on Saturday. They didn't have reservations available but we called and found out they had open bar seating. We took our chances and were lucky enough to find a spot at the bar. The bartender was personable and although busy, was able to get to us in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered two drinks (Under Pressure was fantastic!) bread, the seasonal crudo, and two pasta dishes. Our bread came out quickly and was maybe the best bread I've had in my life. I was very hungry, which might have contributed to my obsession, but seriously- it was garlicky and fantastic. Now came the small issue- we had a pretty large delay between the bread and everything else. After sitting with our drinks empty for a bit a women asked us how we were doing. We each requested a glass of wine and a follow up on the crudo. Our bartender came over and apologized and said the crudo and pasta should be up shortly. He was correct- the crudo arrived about 5 minutes later and the pasta 5 minutes after. All dishes were great. They ended up doing what I'd consider a very generous comp, even though we didn't say anything above asking for an update. I'd chalk up the delay to the busy restaurant and first month challenges, and their follow up was more than adequate. We will absolutely try them again. read more

Years ago when we went to Tavolata Seattle location, we were so impressed, the food was great, service is top notch (there was a delay in our order and the manager did his best that we were being taken care of), that's probably made me a fan of ESR restaurants, been to many of the new ones over the years... But are they too big of an empire now that the quality is sliding ? Is it the heat wave this week ? Or is it the 22% tip/service they are automatically adding and as a result none of the service personal gives a damn about the customers ? Is it a slow weekday night,Or is it just the Redmond location. We had a dinner reservation for a birthday celebration. First of all the hostess, she wasn't particularly rude, but she was as welcoming as a department of vehicles employee. Our server is at least more friendly but other than taking the orders and delivering them she was missing in action, in fact while we were having our entrees, we saw her shift was over and walking away (what happened to "my shift is about to be over, so an so is going to take care of you, do you need anything ...." again is it the result of automatic 22% addition that care is down to minimum). After idling at our table, finally someone showed up and we asked our check. No appetite left for ordering desert (By the way, why are you asking during reservation if it is for a special occasion if you're not going to acknowledge it in any gesture) And last but not least, the pasta quality.. Redmond needed you, Tavolata! I'd driven past Tavolata a few times and quickly added it to my list. The location is perfect in downtown Redmond. We sat outside and were able to walk around after which was lovely. The food is delightful - hearty red sauces satisfied our pasta cravings! We tried the smoked fish bruschetta and it was delicious! Service was good. We had a waiter who was training. He had another staff member standing with him. They were both attentive. We can't wait for another visit and so glad there's another dining option in Redmond! read more

This place is just what Redmond needed! Spacious, inviting and the menu is excellent. I'm not a fan of beets but that dish was so good. My favorite is that Tavalota salad!! When we walked in, we loved the open visibility into the kitchen and the large lounge and bar area. However despite the available space they still crammed everyone into two rows of tables pushed close together which with the kitchen noise and music blaring made it extremely noisy and hard to converse. The menu was described as "family style" and so that's how we ordered: a beet salad. a pasta dish (ravioli) and the chicken entree, and two glasses of red wine. The beet salad came first and was very good. Well flavored multi colored beets that were very tasty. The ravioli came next and despite the yummy sage butter sauce, the edges of the pasta were extremely overcooked almost unchewable. Then the chicken. Well it was moist but probably had about 3000% of my RDA of sodium! Blech! And drenched in fava bean hummus made it even saltier. The waiter was very oddly behaved and talked a million miles a minute and very pushy to get us to order fast. Even when he brought the check he merely asked for the credit card and I never actually saw the bill ever. Which takes me to the fact for our dinner for 3 costs $177 total which included the forced 22% service charge that restaurants are adding these days, which I despise. All in all a very overpriced less than mediocre dinner on a Sunday night. We won't be going back. read more

I was so disappointed in the bagels - they are chewy (a good sign to me usually) but they were also mushy and dense. The toppings were heavy - the shallot topping was particularly disappointing as it was over salted and undercooked. I did appreciate the hand rolling. Ambiance and service were great! Pretty meh food with a 22% service charge hiding behind it. Absolute scum to essentially lie about their prices. They say it's so they can pay their staff fair wages. It's more like so they can trick customers. If the business turned on its brain for even half a minute it would realize most customers would be fine paying the increased cost if it was transparent. However, most customers do not appreciate being cheated. You're not in a tourist zone. You're dependent on repeat business. We were there last Sunday and had a bad experience for below reasons: Walked in around 5pm when half the place was empty and the entitled host said they don't have enough hosts and we can't sit at the table and the long narrow common bar table with high chairs is all they can offer. We were hungry and sat. Ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees and drinks too . The bartender was our server who didn't have much info about the menu. Then we get the bill and there is a forced 22% service charge ! For the service that we didn't even get because they said they won't seat us at tables ! That being said , the pastas were terrible , absolutely tasteless, appetizers were ok . Over priced bad food with bad service ! If I was the manager there I would look in to this place . Sunday 5pm is prime dinner time ! What does is even mean: " we don't have servers so we can't seat u at tables" ??!!! Our group of 4 had an overall excellent dinner experience at Tavolata Redmond. Contrary to what I'd read in some of the online reviews the service was courteous and attentive, the food excellent, and the portions generous. We shared a Tavolata Salad and Roasted Beets salad to start, both were tasty and the two dishes comfortably served 4 of us. For dinner I had the Paccheri Nero (flat pasta with octopus), which stood out for how well prepared the octopus was, not at all chewy and a decent amount of it too. My wife had the spaghetti in tomato and basil sauce with the chicken & pork meatballs, also delicious. One of our friends had the Ricotta Ravioli and perhaps Tavolata has responded to earlier reviews because the portion size was more than adequate. We're definitely going back! read more

I was excited to see another dining choice in Redmond since there are so few. In the spirit of trying Tavolata I've been there two times now - once during the week for appetizers with friends and once on the weekend for dinner with family. Honestly, I don't think I will be back and it's because for the money it's just not that good and service is meh. The vibe is your typical industrial with the high ceilings and you can see the fixtures, etc. but they put a large bar and seating area in the center of the restaurant but it doesn't seem to be used so it just seems out of place. Several of the tables are on their own to the side of the restaurant and we sat there one time and you feel out of the main dining area and if you are by the door it feels like you're sitting by the exit (which you are!). The space doesn't seem well used. The wait staff wear baseball caps and hoodies - several are in black but one person was in a gray hoodie so it's hard to tell who is working at the restaurant since they are dressed so casually. The food is fine but they cut the bread in large pieces for the burrata and then they overtoast it so it's a little burned and it just isn't very tasty. We had burrata both nights and they did it twice. On the one time they also included prosciutto with the burrata but they put it on the burned bread so it was kind of congealed / cooked on top...not very appetizing. Their pasta dishes were pretty good but nothing special. We did like their one delicata squash appetizer dish, in fact it's the only dish I really liked between the two nights. Their menu offers very little variety besides pasta and salads so if you have a member who isn't into pasta they have 3 other entree choices if I recall. They charge $4 for a coke and if you want a refill they charge a $1 per refill but the annoying part is not even that they charge for refills but they put your drink in the smallest glass you have ever seen and put in large ice so that your drink is very small. They are located across from the Redmond downtown park which is the an unattractive park surrounded by apartments so the ambiance to the front isn't that exciting. They have large doors to open up for the summer which would be nice. I would have done the inside differently and not done the seated lounge in the middle and made sure that the ambiance could stand on it's own without the view of the park which is very flat. Redmond needs great dining options, too bad this one isn't one of them in my opinion. If the reviews on service and food get better maybe I might try them again.... read more

Food was ok, a bit too much chilli but overall acceptable. Service was zero level. I don't expect a server to be a genius but getting the order right is kind of a basic expectation especially if you add 22% to the bill BY DEFAULT. I waited 20 minutes for a drink because 'the printer was broken'...no comment. I asked the manager why they don't add the 22% in the prices if it is mandatory. Answer: because then the pasta would be 60$. Umm but it is $60 since the 22% is mandatory...I hate this deceptive approach. It's not about the $ (I could buy the place if I wanted to) it is about principle. Be transparent about the price, I am ok to pay 30% more for the food if you make it transparent but a mandatory service charge is not a 'tip' so just include it in the food cost. Went to Tavolata for Happy Hour. While the food and service was OK, the main problem I have is that they tack on a service charge which is becoming more common these days. It's not 15%, 18%, or even 20%, it's 22%. And what I find totally inappropriate, the sales tax is calculated on top of this service charge. Food was very average and overpriced. $75 per person for mostly a plate of pasta and an appetizer. No drinks. And to top it off they include 22% mandatory service charge because the server told us they only pay them minimum hourly rate and this is part of their pay. I'm a long time fan of Tavolata from their other locations - the food, the cocktails, the ambience is all on point. They just opened 4 days ago and service is already pretty smooth. I only have two notes: the focaccia is a bit too salty (and I love salt) and my pappardelle had several sheets that were stuck together, a bit more movement in the pan would probably solve that. While to food was good, the service was terrible. Our waiter seemed to have a chip on his shoulder from the minute we walked it. He was rude and grumpy. It took 10 minutes for him to bring dessert menus and an extra 15 to order. When we tried to order drinks he'd take one order and walk away. Then take ages to bring that one drink. We tried to flag down the manager but she kept avoiding us too. We finally managed to speak to the manager and asked one question about the menu, she grumbled the answer and walked away before we could speak to her anymore. that's when we notice the waiter and her clearing talking about us. We have been to Tavolata in other locations numerous times so were excited to try out the new Redmond location. While the food and service were great, their front staff/manager is terrible. We went at 5PM on a Friday and she looked at me up and down and said none of the tables were available . Even though 10 tables in front of us were empty and remained empty while we waited for 30 mins for a table, ordered and finished our food and paid the check. But that's not even the worst part- we are a family of 3 with a 2 year old toddler. When multiple couches became available, I asked for the one closer to the bar (away from the door) because my toddler loves running around and I didn't want her to run out. The manager mom shamed me and said "you have a child and want to sit close to the bar?" And rolled her eyes. When did she become an expert child psychologist to mom shame others? This review is a bit overdue but of well. Came here for a Christmas party last year for the first time. Parking is not good, but that's kind of true for anywhere in DT Redmond. Food was only okay. We were a bigger party and everything came out in a timely manner, service was great so no complaints there! Appetizers were pretty standard but I had a non alcoholic spritzer drink that was not worth it. If they had presented it in a better glass with some garnishes it would have made a big difference. Would not recommend spaghetti and meatballs. Kind of hard to mess up spaghetti!! Noodles were too thick and chewy, sauce was blah, and I honestly could not tell if meatballs were chicken or pork. Went there today for the first time. Good selection of bagels and sandwiches were tasty. Space is large but feels industrial and a bit cold. The food is pricey. What I did not like was an 18% surcharge they add and tell you that you can leave an additional tip. It is self service and adding the surcharge is upsetting. If you want to charge more- reflect it in the price of the food, but don't tell me about a surcharge when I am done ordering and ready to check out. Ended up paying $33 for two sandwiches. read more

We ordered the New York steak, morels, and potatoes. The New York was cooked more of a medium than a medium rare (which was requested). I was starving so I didn't decide to return it. The steak was cut into many slices, where it came out nearly cold. The morels tasted like dried and rehydrated ones, and don't believe they were using fresh ones (but they were in season). Soggy and watery. It's either they don't know how to cook morels, or they were dehydrated, super bland. The potatoes were horrible and the sauce underneath tasted like chemicals. Pretty horrible. The one downtown was better and had pasta. Might want to stick with pasta, but might be because they just opened. read more

I have been here a few times since it opened. They have a wide variety of bagels and spreads, as well as breakfast bagels with eggs and other toppings. I enjoy the bagels but have been a tad disappointed each time when my toasted bagel is not warm although we have only dined in. Prices are a bit steep (a breakfast sandwhich and bagel and schmear and a sparkling water for about $20) but I guess that is to be expected now. They did have a bar where we got bloody mary's over the summer but I noticed on our most recent visit the bottles were all gone so maybe due to low demand they don't offer that anymore. The space is huge with tons of seating. Service has always been friendly too. Glad it opened nearby. read more

We went there for the first time today. It has been open only 2-3 weeks and the place looks sharp and clean. We were told that the bagels are Sourdough, which are chrisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. We ordered a not just plain bagel toasted with a plain smear and a drip coffee. They haven't set up yet for drip coffee, so I got an American coffee instead. The bagels were hard to eat because the outside was very tough and hard to bite through. I had to clamp my teeth down and then tear the bite off, which is very messy when the bagel is covered with cream cheese. I did like the taste of the sourdough bagels. I think the problem is that the bagels are not made in the store but brought over from Seattle. The last issue is that the parking is not convenient as there is limited street parking in downtown Redmond. They have underground parking in the building but no signage to tell you where to go. We found the elevator and went up then had to find the way out to the sidewalk and figure the way to the entrance to the place. read more
