I paid almost $500 to take a closed pool to swimming ready. Instead we are left with a half finished pool opening. They put the stairs in a dirty pool. No common sense and everything is extra money. Once the technician came to vacuum the pool, he stopped after an hour and said "I'd finish if I had more time but we only scheduled you for an hour" and left. I know this co as The Pool Guys but this year the bills say Rubber Ducky Pools. I would just add to the other reviews that they are shady and in the past few years, many additional charges. They also speak to me, a single woman, as if I'm an idiot. I've taken care of my home and pool for many years on my own and don't need to be schooled by these people. They will only take cash even tho I've never had an issue with paying my bill. There is only one tech I was told if there is a repair issue. No one answers the phone in the office, you have to leave a message and hope you get a response. The receptionist is not friendly at all. I don't know how they can run a business with someone so unpleasant. All in all, please just stay away! read more

RUN do not walk away from this company. The other reviews pretty much say it all but I will add my input. The owner is a horrible business owner who does not care about his customers AT ALL. In his eyes, the customer is always wrong. The problems have been consistent and unrelenting and there has been nothing done to remedy any of the issues. We hired rubber ducky this year to open our pool. They came and hooked up my filter, pump, piping, and removed the cover. The pool was not vacuumed and left filled with the winters leaves and algae. I immediately noticed that all of the fittings were leaking. These never leaked before, so I knew it was something they had not done correctly (whether poorly cut pipes or lack of teflon tape). Two separate technicians sent to the house were informed of this issue and did nothing to repair or even address as something we brought up as an issue. The second visit was for solely a power vacuum to get some of the crud out of the pool. I got home and saw they took the cash I had left and looked over their invoice to see what they had done. It stated it was vacuumed and ready to be used for swimming. I was thrilled, I went to look at the pool and it looked exactly the same, full of leaves algae, and the opposite of clear or clean. Yet my money was taken, and an invoice for work not performed was left for me. I called and spoke to Anne. She apologized and said they will come back for free next time and vacuum. When these two young guys came back to vacuum, the one who appeared to be in charge muttered "I knew we would be back here" so now I wanted to know more. I asked him why. He said "I told the owner that we couldn't vacuum because of an equipment issue and he told us to take the money, leave the invoice, and if the customer complained, then they would come back free to clean the pool". I was shocked. I went to look at the pool after these two had left and I had cigarette butts all over my pool area, I guess they felt it was ok to litter and smoke in my yard at my home. The next person to come finish the vacuum process I stayed outside with and said "rubber ducky is a cute name". His reply was also extremely peculiar. He said "don't get used to it the owner changes it all the time." I said why would he do that and not build up a brand? The man replied "because anytime the owner has an issue or litigation, he just changes the name of the company, it used to be like ABC pools". I couldn't even believe what I was hearing. I remember the word litigation specifically because then the guy told me all about his girlfriend who was an attorney. Time came to close the pool and I tried to find someone for weeks, but no one would return my call. I called Rubber Ducky and of course they were able to come do it. They again asked for the money to be left out for them despite someone being home when they came. It had rained terribly for days before our pool closing and the water was up to the coping stones. The pool pump is also on a timer like 100% of other pools in America so when they showed up the electric was not on as the timer had shut off. Regardless, they closed the pool with it overflowing with water. When my wife called to ask Anne what happened she put her in touch with Larry the owner. Larry was rude, inconsiderate, and dismissive to my wife during their conversation. He told her he would have drained it and closed it properly had the electricity been on. She told him all he had to do was call, or knock on the door and someone would have put it on so he could do the job the right way. He dismissed her as ignorant and himself as the penultimate expert. That is why I had the unpleasant experience of speaking to him myself. Apparently if you say anything Larry doesn't agree with he either tells you why you are wrong, and he is right, or just flat out hangs up on you because he doesn't really care what you are saying as the customer. In Larry's world the customer is ALWAYS WRONG. I called to complain and Anne told me they would come drain it, but I guess Larrys ego took over, I received a call today from him telling me he was not doing it because I had no idea what I was talking about, and he does this for a living. I told him I am the customer and this was my expectations, they were not met, please drain the pool to the appropriate level for winter. I told him the other twenty times I had the pool closed the level was drained, furthermore he admits he would of drained it if he could have. He refused and hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and learn from the reviewers mistakes and find another company to give your HARD EARNED MONEY to. This company doesn't deserve one dime from anyone. Think I'm embellishing? I initially contacted Rubber Ducky Pools because I need a company to come out on a weekly basis for pool maintenance and opening/closing services. I emailed and had a phone call with "Annie" to schedule a walk thru. They stopped by and recommended a brand new filter system. As a followup, I asked for an explanation of that and also asked a couple other new normal customer questions. Annie offered little information and sometimes not even a reply. I continued to followup every few days or once a week but all I kept receiving from Annie were excuses about how her boss was busy (he remained mysteriously nameless) and how she was always on the phone. Listen - we are ALL busy at work but we still have time to reply to a simple email or call, especially from a new customer. I received one final email from Annie...."after discussing with my boss and going over all of your expectations, my boss has decided it be best you go with another pool Company." So, moral of the story here is if you want to chase down your pool guy, only to be delayed by attempts to upsell services they can't backup with an explanation... then Rubber Ducky is for you. Look elsewhere, zero customer service here and I hadn't even become a new customer yet. read more

They say the 3rd time's the charm and this certainly applies to our situation. My husband and I moved into a new home with a beautiful pool and began our search for a pool maintenance company. We tried 2 local pool companies. One did such a poor job opening our pool we decided not to use them to clean it. The 2nd pool company cleaned the pool halfway and left. Needless to say my husband became an expert at maintaining our pool. Now came the time to close our pool and my husband came across Rubber Ducky Pools so we gave them a try. So glad we did! Larry and Joe came out and they were amazing! They were so informative, patient and answered all of our questions and believe me I had plenty! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Rubby Ducky Pool Company. They are con artists plain and simple. Upon speaking with them about opening my inground pool in June of 2018, they initially tried to charge me an extra $100 to rinse off my DE Filter Grids which comes standard in every pool opening I have ever had prior to dealing with them. Once they realized I knew this and could sense I was about to tell them to take a hike, they quickly backtracked offering to include it in the regular price I admit the pool water level was below the skimmer line, but was at the level it need to be a mere half hour after they left. In total, they were at my home for no more than a 1/2 hour. They never offered to stop by to see if the filter was running correctly at any point in time after the opening. Once again, all three pool-opening companies I had spoken with afterwards told me this is something they do to ensure their customer's pools are functioning. In addition, the crew at Rubber Ducky Pool company left all of the pool chemical containers strewn about all over my pool deck. After opening the pool, the owner of the company charged me $75 for a part of my multi-port valve he claimed was leaking, but the same amount of â"leaking"€ was present afterwards. After discussing this "fix"€ with 3 reputable pool companies, they corroborated what my own research confirmed - Rubber Ducky Pool Company charged me for something I did not need taking advantage of my lack of knowledge at that time (before I researched it) In addition, what kind of legitimate business NEVER picks up their phone? It is always a case of having to leave a message and then waiting for them to call you back even if you immediately return their call after missing their call. This is in spite of the fact that they employ a secretary €"Annie" who misrepresented herself several times as a "manager"€ a claim the owner himself verified in a voicemail be referring to her as his secretary. This woman informed me for them to come back to verify the filter was working properly would cost me $150 for a service charge. Once again, every other company I had spoken to said even if the water levels were not mid-skimmer level, they would send someone by in a day or two to ensure the filter was operating correctly. Despite hearing the distress in my voice over not being able to clear the pool of the tea brown water for over a week after they opened it, the secretary suggested I fill the pool with dirt and make a garden out of it. This comment alone epitomizes what Rubber Ducky Pool company embodies â€" unprofessional, inattentive, and insensible. In part, I blame myself for hiring a company with only handful of reviews on this site.
