The bathrooms and locker rooms are well-designed and clean, and the co-ed sauna and steam room are a major plus. SweatBox is intense, well-structured, and thoughtfully run. The music and variety keep me coming back. Providing ear plugs and cold eucalyptus towels are the many small touches that go a long way during this high-energy HIIT workout. Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Yes things break or require maintenance, but the team is constantly communicating this and working to upkeep their facility. Highly recommend!

They have a wide variety of gym equipment and weight, squat racks, etc. they also offer personal training, which I have met a few of the trainers who are super nice and welcoming. It's great to workout at a gym where you are welcomed and get to know the front desk and staff. Overall, would highly recommend.

I think an individual membership is something like $110/mo so it's extremely discounted. 2. Dry sauna in each of the two locker rooms is a huge, huge benefit. Very few gyms offer this. It's also the hottest sauna that I've been to (212 F) so very effective from a health and recovery standpoint. It's never been broken since I've been there. 3. Tons and tons of equipment that they update fairly regularly. New platforms underneath the racks was an addition earlier this year. Turf area is a nice plus too providing a dedicated area for plyometrics, stretching, sled pulls/pushes, etc. 4. Open 24/7. Parking lot is pretty big. Sometimes it's hard to find a spot since customers from other businesses also park in the back, but it is what it is. 5. Tons and tons of dumbbells that go up to over 100 lbs. For the smaller weights, they go up by 2.5 lbs, which is rare in other gyms. Only downside is that this isn't a gym for Olympic weightlifters. There are no bumper plates that weightlifters can drop from overhead. But it's a dream for bodybuilders and powerlifters.

This gym charges way above market rate for a luxury gym. Don't get me wrong - the gym has super nice equipment, great staff, a cold plunge (very small though), and a hot tub. My issue with this location is for the price that you pay, I would expect the following three things: 1. A nice pool - for the price, I would expect at least an indoor lap pool and even an outdoor rooftop pool. For a lifetime that is supposed to be the highest tier, it should have all of the bells and whistles. 2. Less people at the gym: It is crazy how packed this gym gets. I understand that the location is central in Clarendon but you shouldn't have to wait for equipment when you're paying hundreds of dollars a month. 3. Multiple sport courts: For the price you pay, you should be getting full scale courts such as pickleball, basketball, tennis, etc. This gym should be a luxury club with full scale amenities. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who used to be a Lifetime member, and I have been to 5+ Lifetime locations including ones in the same tier as Clarendon. I remember I paid way less and had the luxury of a pool/never having to wait for equipment.

The mens locker room is large, luxurious, and stocked with essentials like towels, razors, mouthwash, and other toiletries. The cold spa is a little small, with an occupancy of 4, but the hot tub spa can probably fit 5-10 people. The staff are all great and helpful. The gym is cleaned very well and often. In terms of the equipment there is pretty much everything you could want. There is a tank sled, about 12-15 platforms (many are taken for classes however), bumper plates, SSB, trap bar, football bar, an assortment of machines with the main provider technogym. Cardio equipment looks mostly standard to me, treadmills, stair stepper, assault bikes, stationary bikes, ellipticals. In the specialty equipment realm this gym has a belt squat machine, which is definitely cool to see. There are not really any cons to this gym, even the parking really isnt that bad. the garages are typically not even 50% full when ive gone. Clarendon lifetime is a luxury gym that comes at a luxury+ price. i dont think you can join this gym for less than 250/month which is definitely top of market.

However, since OneLife bought it, they have oversold the membership and it is TOO CROWDED. Tonight (Monday), I got to the parking lot at 5:30pm for my usual 6pm spin class. There was not a single parking space available in either the top or the bottom lot. I drove around in circles for 30 minutes (along with many, many other cars) and finally gave up when I realized that I would miss my spin class anyway. It has been this way since November, so this is not just a January spike. Since OneLife took over, we pay MORE for the gym fees, so it is especially frustrating to have less access to classes because of the parking lot situation. They need to figure something out, or they need to cap the # of gym memberships.

This was the last straw. So much poor management I've witnessed throughout my time, especially with the pool. The water is always milky and has an overpowering scent of chlorine which leads me to suspect the pH is very off and they don't properly check and maintain pool cleanliness. They had their cleaning people use strong chemicals to clean the pool deck and windows during open hours. Random times they would shut down the pool without any prior notice via email or postings or otherwise. Lockers rooms always stank. This is not the case at other gyms I've been to. The premier memberships options like the recovery room and towel service were subpar compared to other Onelife facilities. Many times the hydromassage beds were not working and the red light recovery room's ambient temperature was way too hot. They should be offering eye protection for the red light like other facilities instead of just having a sign that says 'use at your own risk.' Plus one of the coat racks in the red light room is chipped and has an exposed nail that had been that way since they opened it (for months now). Their towels are tiny and would only cover the body of a child and are super rough like they overstarched them. Not to mention there were times where the towels ran out and when I asked a staff member about it, they just said that I'll just have to wait. Didn't bother to check if the dryer has clean towels, which it did when I asked a manager.

I saw a lot of people with similar names to him on the Fairfax County Court Website but no idea of the actual guy. Otherwise McLean racquet and health club is okay. Good racquet club and workout rooms. Pool is kind of small.

Ok, let's start with the good. It's not much, but it is something: the primary thing this club has…read moregoing for it is its location. It is very centrally located to McLean. I also found the staff to be perfectly adequate during the months I was a member. Never dealt with any rudeness or unwillingness to help. I have heard in my time there that people have had issue with the owner, but I never interacted with him so I wouldn't know. The issue is really the quality of the facilities. It is a very, very old club and they have not done anything to update it. You'll see in a lot of reviews that people complain its impossible to get a court. I can confirm this. The courts are always full and it is a real pain to get one. I didn't use the pool a ton, but it seemed to not be too crowded. They have kickboards and floaters. But there are always kids in the pool, either taking private lessons or there with their parents learning to swim. If that's not the vibe you want, this isn't the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't' bring my kids here either, because of the locker rooms, but more on that below. On the surface, the restaurant, etc. seem fine. But stick around and you'll start seeing some real problems. The locker rooms are really disgusting. I hate to say it but they are. The shower curtains are moldy, the mats on the floor are stained and moldy, and the water pressure is nonexistent. The towels are, no joke, the size of hand towels and so thin that I wouldn't use them to wipe my floor, let alone give to club members. The soap and shampoo is cheap quality, and the dispensers are moldering and gross. There are hardly any benches to sit on. It is a very cramped and small locker room, with cramped and small showers. There's also the issue that this is a family club, so if you don't want kids gawking at you while you change, it's not the place for you. I have kids of my own, so I get it. But it's pretty uncomfortable to have little kids as old as 10 or 11 in a tiny locker room if you're trying to change into workout clothes. There is a stench in the locker room, too. It really smells like dirty socks. The toilets were always dirty--I don't think they send anyone in to clean them. The issue ends up being that this club isn't cheap. Basic membership is about $200 a month, but with family members and court service, the price climbs quickly. And its absolutely not worth it at that price. Not even close. I'd recommend that they: --Actually stock good towels and toiletries --Create a separate changing section for famlies --Stock towels that don't look like filthy rags --replace their showerheads --replace their shower curtains --replace the floor mats --get a few air purifiers in the locker room to get rid of the stench --create a better system for getting a court --hire some more regular cleaners All in all, this gym is worth maybe $40 a month, tops. Almost $200 is a shameless ripoff. Trust me, whether you need a tennis court, a gym, yoga classes--whatever it might be, this is not the place to get it.

Pretty stoked about this place…read more I've seen a number of gyms and trainers off/on over the years, but this team has it *dialed in*, in all directions. Method Fitness business communication is absolutely professional -- from person-to-person communication, to email, to text alerts/reminders, even being greeted at door, it's all easy, correct, and smooth. My intake interview alone basically "sold" me -- Mateo and talked a lot, I unloaded a ton of stuff about details and goals and issues, and he heard every damn word and absolutely nothing was missed. Zero. He then rolled it into a perfect trainer selection for me. No surprises. I get text reminders about the sessions, and all the staff work together as a team, as a single team, from the moment you walk in the door. The facilities are perfect for meeting fitness goals. It's not a zoo of machines and noise and clutter and random people. There's plenty of space and all the right tools are there. There may be few other people there during my time slot, I feel like my trainer and I 'own' the the whole gym. No waiting for anything. No distractions, no wasted time. Where Method *really* shines is the quality of their programming. I came in with all sorts of history, glitches, ideas, and goals, but they surprised me with more. My beastly and superb trainer, Jack Walter, pays laser attention and is addressing stuff in *hours* that I had not fully seen, and uncovers things I never even noticed! And then he immediately finds a way to address it. The excitement of "actually getting somewhere" is real. These Method guys are *not* picking some rando workout plan out of a hat: it's absolutely tailored. I can't tell you how encouraging this is and how much hope it builds. For older folks, they put a special eye on mobility, injuries, and chronic issues and then target them for fixes. Speaking of workout plan -- I didn't know Method, and they didn't know me, and they had the steady professional foresight to schedule in a few "figure things out" sessions to see where I was, and how I responded to training before -- I repeat, before -- starting a regular routine. This way, they know the regular plan will address my particular needs, and that I'll respond to it successfully. Like I said: Absolutely Professional. Short Story, this is all after just a few weeks. I walked into this place thinking "OK, I'll try a handful of sessions" ....and now? My weights are going up every time. My flexibility and stability are improving. And I feel like I am going to be like the other people we see in the comments who go long and deep with this team. Really hope to see you in the gym! Get in for the free consult! All the best to your success!
