Screen wouldn't come on at startup and the entire thing would just power down. Back then I took it to an Apple Store where a genius told me it was out of warrantee and there were no guarantees they could repair, and if they did it would probably be less expensive to just buy a new laptop. I decided to just use my smaller MacBook Air and put the broken MacBook in a box at home. Flash forward to 2025, I noticed Fix that Mac while in Concord and decided to dig out the old broken MacBook to bring in. Josh said he'd have a look and give me a call with what he found. A few days later I get a text from Josh that he figured out the problem with the screen (a known graphics card issue) and also I needed a new battery as my battery was dead from being unpowered so long. We also decided to upgrade the hard drive so performance could meet almost 2025 standards and be able to jump up a few operating systems. After quoting me his estimates for the time plus hardware (which were incredibly reasonable) I gave the go ahead and my laptop was ready in another couple of days for pickup. Is my boosted 2015 laptop a match for the current 2025 line of MacBooks? Of course not! But it's running as well as my MacBook Air now and it's a great backup should I need more processing juice. I seriously thought I was in the wrong area, since the shop is actually someone's apartment and the technician will meet you at the front of the entrance. I handed him the phone and he ran off. No joking when I say he RAN OFF!! He was booking like he stole something or was running away from the cops. It was hilarious. We started joking around and saying, there goes your phone, never to return. Trust me we thought this company was sketchy and the phone would not come back to us or it would even be worse. After 10-15 minutes. The technician came back with a brand new battery and added a screen protector at no extra charge. I am proud to say the phone is working great now. I'm a mobile notary so even though these printers are for my business, it's not like I have an office with enough printer problems for two hours of work.
