He also brought a great vision to the project and helped us see possibilities we hadn't considered in terms of design. The quality of the workmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism were outstanding from start to finish. We highly recommend Brandon and Nikao Construction to anyone looking for a contractor who is dependable, transparent, creative, and takes pride in his work. Brandon the owner was attentive and receptive to our thoughts and ideas from the beginning of the project until its completion. Brandon was very helpful in his suggestions of multiple suppliers of materials we hoped to use and others we hadn't thought of. Brandon's subs were on time, courteous, communicated with us on what they were doing and projected completion times. We have a large space for the extra materials bought, so that wasn't an issue for us. Using an outside sink area and an office for our temporary kitchen worked out well, as Brandon said the living room didn't have the wattage necessary for the use of a microwave and other appliances we wanted to use. We hope to use Nikao Construction in the future, for their craftsmanship, their integrity, availability via phone or text, and for their sense of humor.

Over the years, I've gotten to know Matt and have seen firsthand how he operates his company. His reputation for honesty, integrity, and craftsmanship is well deserved. In an industry where cutting corners is all too common, Matt does the opposite -- he sets the bar. His jobs are well-managed, communication is clear, and the end results speak for themselves. If you're in the Portland or Lake Oswego area and want a remodeling contractor who combines skill, transparency, and great leadership, I'd highly recommend Ziebart Construction.

Communication was extremely difficult.. the person who comes out and promises you they will do a good job is then the person who helps you with nothing. I have built two significant houses and remodeled many houses and this is the worst company I have ever dealt with on every level they should not be in business. The service is terrible. The quality is terrible. There is no value for the money.. small outdoor decks we had built took forever to finish. The door we had put in our bedroom was put in the wrong way and still doesn't work correctly.. the door to our garden house has a huge gap in the middle of it. Outstanding incompetence.

We had purchased the house while still living in Austin, TX, and needed a contractor we could trust and work well with from a distance. Ashley and his team provided clear, realistic, and detailed estimates, and communicated well with us about what we wanted from our dream home. They updated both of our bathrooms, raised the ceiling in our kitchen, and updated the lighting and wiring through the house to add smart home features. We also threw a huge curveball at them during the planning phase of the project: we needed to add an elevator. They handled this new requirement with ease and delivered a home we are delighted with.

I think one thing that makes them standout above their competition is the excellent communication with their customers about expectations, timelines, and daily work schedule. It wasn't just that his price was fair, they had re-sided a co-worker's home ~11 years prior and their name was listed in his stack of references. I spoke to my co-worker and they STILL had good things to say about Gino and Lifetime. In addition, the company is Hardieplank Elite Preferred installer, meaning they were up to date on any installation best practices and that was important to me. Unlike all of the other bids, there was no pressure. Gino was easy to work with, extremely responsive, meticulous attention to detail. No overselling or "the sky is falling" behavior. No eye rolling or treating me like I was a PIB at the end when some little painting details needed extra attention. Was very respectful of me as a woman. No weirdness or disconnect from his team. Everyone was on the same page. And his team are direct employees of Lifetime ... for many multiple of years. This latter point spoke volumes to me. His employees were superlative workers who were VERY careful about picking up debris, daily check-ins, keeping an eye out for my dog's safety, etc. They were on time, in budget and did great work with everyone being super professional. I will definitely hire Gino in the future for other projects. It was such a relief to have real people with a true business ethic not just working on, but taking care of my home. Thank you Gino!

Our house is not small being 2700+ square feet and while winter isn't the best time for having holes in your house, the guys were quick and professional. The final painting had to be held off until the weather warmed up, but as soon as the sun came back so did they. I had great help in picking our final house colors as well. I was in contact with the main contractor the whole time and the same great group of guys did it all; siding, windows and painting. After 3 different bids, Lifetime was right in the middle but at the end they gave us a top dollar experience.

I have worked with many contractors over the years and my experience with Spruce Box was one of the worst I have worked with for small projects, due to a lack of good project management, quality control and professionalism in addressing quality of work issues. The painting of doors was terrible (trying to use cheaper paint than agreed upon and without tinting to match existing) and remain so, even after painting of some doors three times. They sparyed doors in my garage instead of a shop ( assuring me the results were equivalent) but the painting was a disaster because the painter worked for residential developers and not high-end interiors. Why did they hire this painter for my job and why did they not fire him after his many mistakes??? The hardware installation required re-installation in several instances due to not reading instructions and or lack of experience installing hardware. Trim Paint on the exterior siding and the chimney enclosure requires a second finish coat of paint. The patio door paint is discoloring and scratches off easily - probably due to prep or number of coats of paint. Bathroom door swings open by itself. On the plus side, the crew was generally friendly, kept the house clean and corrected their work when I pointed it out to them. however, many mistakes should have been caught by them. I believe overlapping scheduling of projects led to a rushed job and was even told as much by the crew on a couple of occasions. Response to the issues during the work was minimal and required my constant attention. Now (5 months after the work) and a walk through to identify the issues, I am told by Xavier (owner) that they had barely broken even on the job financially, and would they therefore would not follow-up on the correction of mistakes or paying me to make these repairs on my own. They no longer return my calls, and have essentially ghosted me. This might happen with a bad friendship but should never happen in a business context. I WOULD NOT HIRE SPRUCE BOX NOR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE FOR ANY PROJECT BECAUSE THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK AND THEIR HIGH PRICES ARE NOT COMMENSURATE WITH THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK.
