It was a small job, but they didn't treat it (or us) like it was any less worthwhile than a bigger one. All three of the main guys are super nice, conscientious, communicative, and excellent at their work. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Plus, they did what they said they would do when they promised. None of the typical problems with not showing up, not responding to questions, etc. I would hire them again in a minute. Simply the best contractors I have ever worked with.

Spruce Box was the most timely, friendly, and the most reasonably priced. I really appreciated their great communication. The work took two days. Tim did a great job and was very friendly. The scope of my project was complete door replacement (I supplied pre-hung doors and hardware) and…read morereplacement of a rotting chimney enclosure for my home in Gresham. I have worked with many contractors over the years and my experience with Spruce Box was one of the worst I have worked with for small projects, due to a lack of good project management, quality control and professionalism in addressing quality of work issues. The painting of doors was terrible (trying to use cheaper paint than agreed upon and without tinting to match existing) and remain so, even after painting of some doors three times. They sparyed doors in my garage instead of a shop ( assuring me the results were equivalent) but the painting was a disaster because the painter worked for residential developers and not high-end interiors. Why did they hire this painter for my job and why did they not fire him after his many mistakes??? The hardware installation required re-installation in several instances due to not reading instructions and or lack of experience installing hardware. Trim Paint on the exterior siding and the chimney enclosure requires a second finish coat of paint. The patio door paint is discoloring and scratches off easily - probably due to prep or number of coats of paint. Bathroom door swings open by itself. On the plus side, the crew was generally friendly, kept the house clean and corrected their work when I pointed it out to them. however, many mistakes should have been caught by them. I believe overlapping scheduling of projects led to a rushed job and was even told as much by the crew on a couple of occasions. Response to the issues during the work was minimal and required my constant attention. Now (5 months after the work) and a walk through to identify the issues, I am told by Xavier (owner) that they had barely broken even on the job financially, and would they therefore would not follow-up on the correction of mistakes or paying me to make these repairs on my own. They no longer return my calls, and have essentially ghosted me. This might happen with a bad friendship but should never happen in a business context. I WOULD NOT HIRE SPRUCE BOX NOR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE FOR ANY PROJECT BECAUSE THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK AND THEIR HIGH PRICES ARE NOT COMMENSURATE WITH THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK.

Pre-purchase inspection had shown the house would benefit from some structural and cosmetic work, principally due to its age, and the normal deterioration any wood structure is subject to. Alan Pierce thought through his bid carefully, and gave me clear advice, telling me what could and could not--realistically--be accomplished. This was accompanied by a fixed bid in writing. Payment was made in three parts, the final payment being made only when all work had been fully completed to my satisfaction. We went over the bid by just $400, a choice I made to do some additional strengthening work in one area. Alan and his team always arrived promptly, usually at 9am, and worked until 5pm, Monday - Friday. They worked to keep the property as clean as possible, and I was impressed that they followed proper Oregon DEQ safety practices. The project took about three weeks to complete. I was able to see first-hand the work Alan's crew performed, and felt that without exception they were excellent craftsmen who did careful and precise work. Alan also took before and after photos of all the work completed. Overall, I would unhesitatingly recommend Alan and his company Revive Works for residential remodeling. Both as individuals and as an organization, I found them knowledgeable, easy to work with and highly proficient. In a word, they were trustworthy, something which cannot be said of all companies operating in this field.
