Reached out to Roy to install a whole house water filter. Initially, Roy was very responsive, friendly, very knowledgeable. Once we agreed to hold off until beginning of next year we had a baby so it was hectic. He said perfect timing to recoup his Christmas money spending. Cool. First it was impossible to get a hold of him. There was an illness so totally understandable. He said he would call back. Never did. When wife picked up, he was out walking his dog so he was getting better. Wife said he would call back, even said he mentioned about our job. Ok cool. Since we both verbally agreed, I reached out and finally when I did, I told him I would follow-up in the next few weeks to confirm a time. He said he was open. When I called him again, he still wanted to proceed. Actually, he mentioned he was on a job site already and was busy. Called the week to confirm and still good to go. We arranged our time and vacation since we had babies and water was going to be shut off. Stated the time he would show up. Didn't show up, called that day to confirm, no response just ringing. Nothing. Dealt with a lot of contractors, most have been great with others with most epic sob story you can think off. His reviews are great which really threw me off but they seem to be a few years back and I guess it has went downhill since then. Well had no Hot water for 2 days now. After calling several companies this since early this a.m. he was the 1st to return my call. Initially told me he couldn't come till the next day but we were desperate. The kids had a quick wash down with water I had to boil and mix with the cold. That was tedious LoL Sure enough he came by after an hour showed me how to look for the pilot and to shut off and turn on the gas . Couldn't use the hot water for about an hour but it finally works! This is my first review on Yelp. I didn't know that finding a good, honest plumber to install a whole house water filter + softener (Aquasana EQ 1000) would be this difficult. I knew it would cost me around $500 because one of my friends paid $400 for a similar filter (Aquasana EQ 300) 18 months back. I called a number of plumbers in our area and was really frustrated by the response. Plumbing Company: The technician is on the way to give you an estimate. You be at home at 11 AM. (we reached home to talk to him. But the technician got something more important than our appointment and didn't show up) Plumber 1: I don't know about other plumbers, but my rate is $900 (Me: Thanks!) Plumber 2: I will install the filter and build a nice, beautiful Redwood box to protect it for just $1500! (Thank God, he didn't suggest using gold pipes instead of copper) Plumber 3: You buy me the materials. I charge $50/hr. and it would take about 4 hours for me. We can finish the job within $500. (I agreed and asked for a reference. After that he never showed up) Plumber 4: I won't rip you off like others. I think (???) I can do it for $550 (he called again in couple of hours and said he wants $850 to do it) Plumber 5: ... Plumber 6: ... (A lot of no shows) The filters were sitting in our backyard for almost 5 weeks. Finally I found Roy on Yelp and he came to our house. Roy: I can do it for $700. It looks like the materials would cost me $300. Me: I know the price of copper pipes and fittings. I am looking for a more reasonable price. Can you do it for $500? Roy: No Raj, that is too less. I can do it for $600. If it is OK, I'll come around 9 AM on Tuesday to install it. Don't ask me how but I felt Roy is the right man for the job after talking to him. I agreed to $600 but was wondering if he would show up on Tuesday morning (experience!). Roy came on Tuesday morning and did a fabulous job. He brought a wooden plank and wood blocks to fasten the filters against the fence for support. He installed a neat bypass line with stopper valves to redirect water while changing filters or in case of any issues with the filters. It took almost 5 hours to complete the job and in the end not a single drop of water leaked in the new lines. He is a very friendly person and a professional plumber with lot of experience. I wasn't going to bother leaving a review but changed my mind. A few month's ago I called Roy's because I needed a few things done. The repairman put two new washers in my bathtub faucet, two new washers in the bathroom sink and changed the O ring in my kitchen faucet, which he said there was no charge for. He also fixed the lever on bathtub that opens/closes the drain. I can't be sure if he was at my house for a full hour. Maybe a little longer. Charge for this $600! Seems a bit excessive. When he left, the bathtub faucet was still dripping. I called again and a different guy showed up. He commented, well, it's an old fixture. Noting else done. I told this to my neighbor who does construction work. He came over and less then 10 minutes the problem was solved. No charge. He said he would be embarrassed to charge $600 for the work that Roy's charged. I called and requested a copy of the invoice which they did send to me. It contained very little info. I called last night because of a clogged kitchen sink. Roy came out this morning, as planned, and efficiently took care of the problem in about an hour. I chose Roy's Plumbing based on the reviews but my call got referred to another plumbing company without being told and they did a fine job I guess but filled in the hole leaving a huge bump that I had to clean up. I had been looking for a plumber for quite some time to fix my master bathroom shower drain, I decided to call Roys Plumbing because I saw his flyer up at the Anatolia Clubhouse. I did not think he would answer since I called on a weekend but we scheduled an appointment for the next day, Sunday. I had a break in the water line coming into our bathroom sink on a busy Saturday morning. Closing the valve at the inlet didn't stop all the leakage. My regular plumber was out of town. I saw Roy's Plumbing listed on Yelp with lots of five stars so I called him. He picked up though he was doing a customer repair at the time and said he could come out within 90 minutes and he did. My grandmother's kitchen sink was clogged. She called Ace Plumbing and they came right away. The plumber that came out said he was unable to snake the drain due to an old fitting and would have to come back out with additional help the next day, open the wall and replace the fitting. The estimate for this service was $1800, which she declined to have done. He charged her $108 for coming out (and not fixing anything). My mother referred her to Roy. He came out first thing the next morning, fixed the clogged sink within 30 minutes and charged her less than Ace did. There is an honest, knowledgeable and reasonable plumber in Sacramento! I am a retired General Engineering Contractor ( we built sewer lines for government and sewer treatment plants). I know the business very well. I am also an absentee landlord. I had another large plumbing company out to help with a clogged sewer lateral: They could not help, and proposed a complete new lateral line for many thousands of dollars. What they were telling me just did not make any sense. I cancelled them and called Roy. I am sure glad I did. He came out on New Year's Day and cleaned the line out for a regular charge. We have a separate nozzle and pipe that allow water to fill up our pool and that broke in the evening. It broke in the full flowing position so we had turn the water off to our house and Roy was the first plumber I called. He was able to come out the next morning and replaced the pipes and even made it higher up so it was easier to reach. He is very nice and cost was reasonable. read more

We used Roy's about 7 years ago to install gas lines and to do some other plumbing work in a house my wife and I had bought and moved into; we were very happy with the work Roy did, but were especially impressed with his honesty and candidness. My wife's son bought a home a couple of months ago and we have been helping him get it ready for him to move into this month. When it became apparent that we needed a plumber to install a gas valve and line for a clothes dryer, we searched for Roy and contacted him to do the work. He was able to do the work within our schedule and, as in the past, he showed up when he said he would, did a great job of installing the gas valve and line, a water valve and line for a toilet, and even reinstalled the toilet that my wife's son had removed so we could tile his bathroom floor.
