We were welcomed as we entered, and we were seated right away. We ordered breakfast and it was delicious. The café reminds us of a 1960s diner. The restaurant is very welcoming and clean. You're missing out if you don't go.

Very friendly staff. Had to stop to get my friend Roy some merch. They didn't have his shirt in his size so I settled for a hat. We were enroute to AZ so we ordered a turkey sandwich to go, which they happily accommodated before lunch was being served. It was a great sandwich, served with some fresh fruit as they weren't ready to serve fries. A nice stop in Barstow.

Diner is ofd route 66 and it's very casual and laid back. Service is excellent and the staff is friendly. Food reminded me of old Fashioned diner and delicious! Good pit stop to grab a bite to eat while you're on the road going to or from Las Vegas.

We ordered from Roy's Cafe via DoorDash. We ordered a typical breakfast, waffles/french toast/Waffle/bacon etc. The waffle was okay, very thick like bread. The bacon tasted like it was cooked in old grease, the pancake had zero flavor. Overall not the best experience. Based on prior made reviews, I'm sure this was a bad day. I've eaten here before a few years ago and enjoyed my experience then.

Nice Route 66 vibe cafe. Stopped in for breakfast during our cross country Route 66 trip. We were seated right person seated and served promptly. The food had nice portions and was well prepared. Special orders and slight changes were no problem. I had the breakfast skillet with over easy eggs and it was very good. Our friend had the Denver Omelet with rice and beans and she said it was awesome we all were happy with our meals and would defiantly recommend for a nice, reasonably priced breakfast.

Bacon breakfast burrito with beans.

This was my second visit to Amboy Cafe and once again they delivered. On this visit I wanted and ordered a machaca and egg burrito with beans no hash browns to go. After tax it was a little over $17 bucks but was well worth it. After getting my order I drove to Love's gas station in Barstow and ate it there after gasing up my vehicle. I think this burrito was heavier then the breakfast burrito I had last year. I was not given a fork and knife but I managed to eat this behemoth. The end of the burrito would have spilled out if I lifted the whole thing to my mouth so I just lifted the top portion and ate it with the rest in the container. Absolutely delicious! Biting into the burrito just amalgamated all the flavors of the shredded meat, eggs, cheese and beans into a cohesive delicious flavor that was delicious and addictive. This baby had to have been well over 1 1/2 lbs of food and yes, it was so good I ate the whole thing and did not eat anything else for the rest of the day. Thank You Ambo Cafe I'm a customer for life.

Cute diner atmosphere. Obviously family owned and the food was great! Stopped on our way through Barstow. Will be back next time in the area. Awesome onion rings and fries.

Love this place

it's so fun for our family they are so nice and the food is delicious fresh Fresca made mmmhmm always a great stop on route 66

Molcajete
Alex G.

The Molcajete was way too spicy, They straight up added the salsa from the chips and salsa in. The steak and cheese was great but the overall entree was not. The Service provided to us was great at first. Once we got our food we only got checked up on once and never again. Even when we were ready to check out. We had to go and find our waitress in order to check out. The Burger and Fries were good. You can never go wrong with them. I Think we would have liked their breakfast more.

After reading the wonderful reviews on yelp, my husband and I stopped at Roys Cafe on the way to Las Vegas. My husband ordered two eggs with bacon and hash browns, and I ordered the breakfast quesadilla without meat. Both of our meals were just okay. To be honest, we were both disappointed. Perhaps we should've ordered something else. We won't be stopping by again.

The were both fabulous. Dan and Arlene are the current owners of The Owl Cafe and are so knowledgeable about the area and mining. Since we were only 2 people we could go in one car, but more people would need to follow in their own car and stop along the way. The price was very affordable $99 for 2 people and included a tour of the museum. The museum is jam packed with interesting items. While there is a museum, you should probably call and make a reservation to see it rather than drop by. The Owl Cafe was once a cafe but has not been one in a long time but it historically was a cafe, a barber shop, a bar, a casino and more. A rich history dating back to the early 1900's. The surrounding areas were used in many movies of the 1930-1950's. The second day I took the Gold Prospecting Charter and we found gold! Dan and Arlene are members of prospecting organizations and have access to sites where mining can be done. They use a method called dry-washing. It involves quite a bit of digging, flinging the dirt onto a machine, collecting the heavier stuff and then panning it. If you find gold, they put it in a vial for you to keep. It was so much fun! I can't imagine being a minor and doing it every day because it was very physical. The price of the tour was a bargain $79 for one person, $20 more for each other person. Your would need a vehicle with a high clearance because they have to pack their vehicle with all the equipment, and then you follow them to the site which is probably on a dirt road.

I took a big dump and told them that there's a lot of gold nuggets in there. I had corn to eat with a meal before getting there. The owner was excited to hear gold. He gave me a Jesus pamphle.

Yeah, I wish they had real bacon (they only have turkey bacon and Canadian Bacon); if they want to be strict, they could offer uncured pork bacon. And I wish they had Splenda, since Stevia has a nasty taste to me. But just to enjoy the property and the sense of peace, I would definitely go there again. The juice blends are amazing, and even the snacks are good. All a bit pricey, but good. The owners have done a BEAUTIFUL job with this property and I can't wait until the wine bar opens.

This cafe is located right next to the front desk! When we came, we had already been tanning outside for an hour. We came in a bit sweaty and thirsty. For a part of 8, we were immediately seated and given water. A few of the girls and myself had ordered fruity mimosas. each of us also ordered a meal. For myself, I had ordered their salad with a lemon dressing. It was very refreshing especially after being in the heat. I actually wanted a pasta salad or something similar to that, but there wasn't that option. We were charged a gratuity charge after eating, which makes sense for having a large party. The server had checked in on us very often which was very sweet of her. This cafe is decent if you're a guest or visiting.
