I have read all the reviews on this site and feel the need to write my own. I bought my BMW 328i from Roy's II, I love my car and the service I got. I have been on the lot many times and have never had a problem. my car runs like a champ and has from day one. It is your responsibility to check out any used car that you buy no matter where you buy it. For the chick that went to Lithia, well that's a place I will never step foot in. My husband is looking for a truck and the first place we are going is Roy's! read more

I am sharing the facts about my experience with this business: I bought this car two days ago. I was excited about it, at first. There are two open recalls on it. When I looked into the recalls on Kelly Blue Book I found out that one recall is very serious. One recall report from 2023 for my exact year and model, stated that the engine could suddenly seize and catch fire causing an unexpected crash and/ or injury. I was very shocked upon finding out this information about my new car, so I went down to Roy's to inform them. At first, they did not take me seriously and tried to down play the situation. Together we called an Acura dealership down south, who confirmed exactly what I had found on KBB. Roy's knew of the recall, but I was told that because there wasn't a local dealership who could fix it, thet decided not to get it taken care of. They did the their own inspection, regular maintenance and test drives on the car and that's it. BUT, what they didn't know is that the engine needs repairs or even possible replacement! They said because there was no stop sale on it, they thought it was ok to sell. It took me maybe 5 mins to do what they could have done right in the first place. Even though they let me return the car, canceled our contract and gave me a full refund of my down payment, this is a moral issue. They did not do their due diligence in making sure that this vehicle was safe to sell. I have four kids whom I dearly love. At any given time my family and others on the road, could have gotten seriously hurt or killed in a car accident fire, and that is not ok! All because it was inconvenient for Roy's to do their job correctly. This is very disappointing and now makes it hard for me to trust other used car dealerships! DO BETTER ROYS! Update: upon further investigating my situation with Roy's family business, I have discovered that my car actually does have a stop sale on it. Which Roy's was unaware of. I know this because their one claim that they had done nothing wrong because there wasn't a stop sale, which is incorrect, afterall! Obviously they do not do their homework on the used vehicles that they buy to resell to the innocent victims of our community. Please see photos . Please save yourself and your family the headache, hassle, disrespectful treatment and possible life threatening accident, that you can get when you buy a car from Roy's in Humboldt County, CA. read more

I have now submitted this information to both BBB and the Bureau of Automatic Repair because I'm being officially harassed by this company. Be very careful, price gouges. Had vehicle on here for almost 5k over what KBB values it. Make sure to kbb things first, out in the MILEAGE, because that counts a lot towers the value. Look up how many miles the vehicle should last that you want and really think about the life that's left in it. Just tips to be safe when purchasing from anywhere, but esp. here. I notified them of what I found and they know they're gouging. This vehicle on its last legs, already gone past how much it should last, and they're asking that much over KBB value. Beware. Update: they're now also harassing me even though I looked up the KBB value with everything included myself. 01/15/2022 still messaging me. Price gouging and harassment. They haven't left me alone for a month and are sending extremely volatile emails when I've sent them the information I found in a car they're charging 5k more for what Kbb values it as. They sent me a weird document but I did the KBB value itself and the miles at 360k brings the value down significantly. This is his email to me as of this morning- and keep in mind I'm doing a legal name change because of my abuser, not going by an alias/have not reached out to them, etc. for a MONTH........ michaelsmith707@gmail.com wrote: Hey --, (or Victoria) The KBB we sent you literally has the VIN number, exact features, date, and miles on it. If you look at the bottom, you will see the Kelly Blue Book endorsement as well. So implying that the information is "false" is just wrong. All your assumptions based on what you did or didn't see on carfax are ignorant as well because a lot of shops don't even report to Carfax. Information not being on the carfax is not proof that it wasn't performed. If you were civil and just asked for it, we would have happily sent you our extensive shop report. As far as you not understanding the "POINT" of me messaging you back, let me explain. An online shopper made a mistake when estimating a KBB on one of our vehicles. She then took the extra step to erroneously put out a bad review based on this information. If you ever took the time to come down and look at the vehicle or talk to any of our reps in person, instead of just being an online troll, you would have seen how wrong you are about Roy's and our vehicles. Our small business has about 20 employees and every single one of them bust their butts to maintain an excellent reputation and while doing so uses that reputation to feed their families. So when someone makes a mistake and feels the need to slander us based on that mistake, it's worth it to go out of my way to try and correct the error. At this point, based on your initial response, I don't expect you to be reasonable or fix the erroneous review. It's a sad truth that there are people in the world that cannot be reasoned with. I find solace in the fact that Roy's will be fine with or without your review correction. Based on your very toxic response with your review and to my reasonable first message, you aren't a very happy person anyways. The universe seems to always find a way to even things out in this way. Happy New Year Victoria (or --- your cowardly internet troll alias). It comforts me to know that you will get exactly what you deserve from this life. read more

Sold me the worst car I have ever owned. I have spent well over 2,000 in repairs in a vehicle I have owned for 3 years

Unprofessional and sleazy. Avoid this place. Adam as a salesperson was terrible. Don't go here if you have a choice.

Kennedy is, hands down, the best car salesman around. Within 5 minutes he showed me 4 cars that were all great, and affordable, options. Went to lunch to think about the options and when I came back he already had the car I liked best ready to go. The nicest thing about Kennedy is he's from Humboldt and he listens to what you actually want/need for your new car. No pressure. Great experience. Would definitely recommend talking to Kennedy if you're looking for a car. read more

Got a 2013 Acura MDX in July '19 from Roy's. We were treated very well, and got what I feel was a good deal on a good car. 18 months later and we've had zero issues with the car, and we will look to Roy's again the next time we're in the market for a vehicle. read more

Im very disappointed. I was looking for my first car. I got referred to go here. Everybody was so sweet and I found my car. well just found out I have to replace my clutch. My warranty expired. I have no idea what I'm going to do. read more

Horrible Experience. I called 24hrs prior on a price point of vehicle to verify and sales man verified price as I would be driving from over 2hrs away . Upon , my arrival the sales person is no where to be found and the price of the vehicle is $3000. More than. Listed on Edmunds.com . Overall they were very unprofessional in how they handled this situation and will be reported to better business bureau. Don't waste your money or time like I did because you'll be upset and they'll make an asinine statement let's try to meet half way on the price per the sales manager . Don't hesitate to avoid this place if you're in a position like myself and not desperate for a car . read more

This is a wonderful dealership for slightly used cars! I read some of the previous ratings, and it's a shame that the majority of people don't leave more positive reviews. My salesman was Nick Scott, he was a very friendly , supportive, knowledgeable, and caring professional. I would definitely come back here for any of my future car needs. I ended up buying a 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman S, it has minimal miles and is in great condition. If you're looking for a good quality car with reasonable rates and a friendly staff, I would suggest this dealership. Everyone I met was helpful, understanding, and kind. read more

Literally acted as if they were the nicest down to earth people, shortly found out that they are just scammers and liars. They sold me a car with a blown head gasket, then proceeded to lie about it. They tried hiding it by adding more oil, but I checked it again a couple weeks after purchasing it because my car was having trouble starting, sure enough, my fluid was milky. I haven't even driven the car 2,000 miles. Then they tried guaranteeing me they didn't sell it to me like that, which was also a lie because they can't guarantee that. Then they were going to make me pay $650 to have them fix it(as if I would want these scammers to screw up my car even more). This place is a joke. Don't buy your vehicles from here! read more

One star is pretty generous. I test-drove a car which a salesman told me had never been in an accident. I told him I was going to have my mechanic look at it. Mechanic did look to find a damaged front axle. I went back to Roy's with the news, and asked for my car keys and my licence. The man (who reeked of alcohol) yelled at me in front of other customers. I was so shocked and embarrased I forgot what he said. He made me cry. Students, DO NOT buy a car in Eureka. Rent a car and look south if necessary. read more

I walked into Roy's with my boyfriend just browsing. Brian was very nice and helpful considering a salesman should be, and he mentioned a lot of options I could come back with later when my dad was with me to co-sign. So I had some hope. The next day I came in with my dad, Brian remembered my name and my situation. We looked at a couple cars and he let me test drive them for about 10-15 minutes each, and I had one picked out. When it came time to figure out the financing, they had to go back and forth into Troy's (the main manager) office to see how it would work out. They made us sit there and wait for FOUR HOURS! We kept asking how long it would be after each 30 minutes passed, and they kept saying "Soon, the wheels are turning! They're working on it!" While all that time passed we could have been looking at other cars! I only had the one day to look because I had come in from out of town and was leaving the next day. They wasted half our day. They couldn't come up with an agreement with the bank on the car I chose, so we asked about some cheaper cars. Out of 137 cars they had in the lot, they claimed there was nothing that fit my needs. We left, and ended up going to Opies in McKinleyville, where I found the perfect car (it was the first one I test drove) and we were in and out in just a couple hours. :) Happy ending, but I would NOT recommend anyone to go to Roy's. Four hours was absolutely ridiculous. read more

Called them and asked about a Jetta, I said I am only going pay $10k for it and I am driving over an hr for it, sales rep on phone said they could work with me on that price I offered. Upon arrival they swapped salesman on me and then preceded to say there's no way they could come close to the price I offered! Also upon inspection of the car the passenger seatbelt was super moldy and rear window area was damp and musty, outside of the car was dirty not even washed. Will not be doing business with them the future especially when they can't even budge they're price from high blue book with complimentary mold with it. read more

Edit: I have lowered my review since I originally posted it back in 2012. The reason for the lowering of my review is the extremely rude reply one of the owners felt to leave my review. She obviously does not care about how her establishment is viewed, or about bad experiences. She wants to call me out as a liar instead of realizing what I went through and looking for a way to make it better. Yes it was years ago and yes I no longer live in the area but I know plenty of people who still do. I was interested in a car they had there a few years ago that I had seen on their website. So I went in to hopefully test drive. Now at this time I was a young 23 year old girl walking into a car place by herself. When I asked about the car the older gentleman who was helping me said they may still have it somewhere and that they "may" be able to match the online price (the price online was a good $3k-$4k difference). He finally dug out the keys and we went for a 15 minute test drive. I know sad right, worst part was he drove most of it. I got to drive part of the way back, about 5-7 minutes. When we got back he immediately started asking about my credit and how much I could put down and if I could do it then. Needless to say I walked out and went and purchased a similar car at Lithia for a cheaper price. What also bugged me was that he was in jeans and a t-shirt. Now I'm sorry I know its eureka but if you want me to drop a lot of money on a car at your establishment please at least dress up and put on a tie. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Ever since buying my car here, I've had nothing but problems with it. The sheer incompetence of the mechanics here caused my transmission to fail (on the freeway no less!), they talked to me like I was a little girl (fine, I may be a girl but I know how to notice if my car is overheating, I don't need the condensation but hey, it ended up costing them since I made them cover the cost of their own mistake. Maybe next time they'll listen to the silly girl who is trying to tell them about something) and I've had so many other problems with it since then, one after the other it's costing me a fortune and stress. It's a complete lemon and after only just over a year of owning this car, I give up. It's the most miserable experience of owning a car I've ever dealt with and I don't want anyone else to have to go through it either. I've owned other used cars and I've never been more wary about driving a car before, I feel like every time I'm going to drive it it's going to break down. Do yourself a favor and go to Opie's, anywhere but here because it will just cause you money and grief in the end. If you do want to buy a used car here, please familiarize yourself with California's Lemon Law so you know your rights. DON'T BUY A USED CAR HERE. RUN. RUN NOW. read more

I wouldn't trust them .. not a single one of them, from the sleazy salesman to the crook beyond the office doors with a single cent of my money. worst 10,000 i ever spent. even took them to the California Bureau of Auto Repair but Roy's staff didn't think highly enough of that organization to do as directed and refund the money for the repair that never was. I would recommend running as far away as possible if you ever have the misfortune of stepping foot on the property. Trust none of them. they may as well be thieves in your house. read more

He sold me a lemon. Never buy from these people they are the shadiest used car dealers in the area, and will try to rip you off for every nickel you have. And they only offered me 100$ on a trade in I ended up getting over 2000$ for. Roy's is s Ripoff! read more

Good guys to buy from, extremely fair and willing to negotiate the price. Not once did I feel pressured to buy the car

Our daughter is an hsu student and our main goal while visiting from out of state was to by a car. The salesman we worked with could not have been nicer. I must say coming from the Midwest I did suffer a little sticker shock on the price of used cars at all the lots. Overall Roy's was as good as buying a used car experience as I have had read more

Roys Auto lives up the used car lot stereotype. I spoke with Tom on the phone and we agreed to a price on a car. I drove one and a half hours to purchase the vehicle and when I arrived I was greeted by a very rude individual who proceeded to inform me that the car had miraculously sold while I was on my way. He basically told me tough #%*+#. They actually did me a favor when I saw the car three month prior it was just traded in and was in bad condition. On the phone Tom told me the car was emaculate and they took it to a body shop and had it fixed and repainted. If they infact took it to a body shop I wish I new who it was because I would write them a bad review for the repair work if you could call it that. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

The people at Roy's have the best people! I locked my keys in my car down the street from the dealership, so I walked into Roy's hoping they'd be able to help me. Not only did they have the tools, but were so nice about it, all of the staff were very approachable and polite and made sure everything was okay! Gave us a ride to my car and unlocked it. They didn't even charge me! So grateful for their services. I know where I'm getting my next car! read more

This place is a scam. I offered $1000 with a trade in worth about $3000 and they still wanted an additional $4000 down on a used vehicle with high mileage. The vehicle was only $14000. Their advertisement all over the business says Zero down, what a bunch of crock. Jim & Troy are tongue-tied pieces of work. And to top it all off, if the deal had went through I would be looking at a $450 a monthly payment on a cheap az vehicle. read more

DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS!!! went to go look at cars and one of the sales man brought us in te office we talked about prices verbally didnt sign any pappers or nothing but we wanted to go look at other car lots too(we do have options in doing that) when we were about to leave the salesman boss came out yelling and screaming saying all kinds of things. i dont know about you guys but i think in any bussiness customer service comes first. I dont think anyone would buy a car from a place were you get yelled at, that is just my opinon. If i could give a negative star i would. That is just my experiance from them. To people who had good experience from them kudos, guess they just choose on who they are going to give good service too when you walk on there lot. read more

Bought a 2003 Vehicle from Roy's Auto center, after driving it about 2 weeks there was a knocking sound. Their mechanic said it was a knock sensor problem. so they replaced it but the sound didn't go away. Then the mechanic said the charger was going out. that would be about $1500 to replace. Shortly after that I was driving down the road and the engine lost power and lots of smoke was pouring out of the exhaust. Took the vehicle to a mechanic and found there was major internal problems with the engine. Stuck in a payment to the bank now plus for replacement of engine total loss....$15,894.00 I got screwed. Do not buy from this dealer They will not work with you because of their incompetence of selling bad vehicles. read more
