Before I start, let me say I am leaving ZERO STARS, but had to select 1 star to start a review. I've been going to this salon for almost 10 years. My mom even goes to this salon. I've watched them expand from having a small salon to the double-sided salon they have now. My nail tech has always shown the utmost respect & goes above & beyond to service me. The other staff seem to be friendly as well. But Andy is the RUDEST person I have ever encountered. When I walk in the salon, he does not greet me but knows exactly who I am because he calls my nail tech as soon as he sees me coming, and even did so under the mask mandate so he even recognizes me with half of my face showing. Once I was checking out & noticed that it skipped the option to leave a tip. When I pointed it out to him, he yelled at me saying I hit the button to skip a tip. As a frequent customer, I know how to use the card machine. I didn't skip the option, he did. But even if I did, it should've been a simple fix on his end, especially if I'm wanting to make sure my tech knows I appreciate the service. I ended up ignoring him & told my tech I would double tip at my next appointment and walked out of the salon. I've read other reviews and it is VERY apparent that 99% of the negative reviews are based on bad service due to discrimination. Even when Andy has been rude to me, I have still been very respectful in his salon. He was not always rude. When the salon was smaller & Andy was a nail technician, he was down to Earth & we would talk about movies, restaurants, etc. It appears the expansion has gone to his head. My dollar spends the same as a white client's. I've always gone there simply for my nail tech, but right now, if my tech is not able to make home visits, then I will be finding another salon to service me. Never walked into a nail salon and had them tell me they were closed evasive they were too busy. I have had them ask me to make an appointment, possibly could I come back later, but never have I walked in and had them refuse me service. I am guessing that they did not like my look and therefore did not want to give me service. Very disappointing that there are places still that would have this be the case. I hope that people will not support a business that apparently has a policy of not servicing someone because of the color of their skin. read more

I usually have Charlie as my tech but the last two times I've come I've had different people. The one from today, Michelle, kept mumbling about my nails, I knew this because the guy next to her kept looking at my hands and looked at me. Later proceeded to loudly say my cuticles were very dry, I said I know. Later as I was checking out, I swiped my card and although I wasn't very satisfied with my nails I simply proceeded to pay and was not going to leave a tip, the receptionist immediately asked Michelle if I left her a cash tip and she said no and he looked at me like there was an issue and simply handed me my receipt and didn't even say anything back to me. This isn't the first time he's done it. I will tip only if I want to, this is so annoying because they think I MUST include a tip. My service wasn't even 30 mins and the manicure wasn't complete. When I asked him how much dipping powder would be he included a $10 charge tip in the total price.. I had to ask him 2x's how much it'd be WITHOUT tip. I was able to get an appointment one time. I tried for a month to get another appointment and they took my name and number ( by the way you enter that information initially) and never called. When I called them it was the same spill name and number and we will call. I never got a return call or an appointment. Oh, at the first appointment I asked for a two week return appointment but was denied one. Not sure if they don't want African Americans in there establishment or not, but it can across that they did not want MY MONEY!!!!! read more

The best nail salon! Every time we come we always have the best service and every employee takes care of you. The pedicures are the best. Long massages, hot towels. They were able to fix 2 ingrown nails with minimal pain. They treat you with "Royal" service everytime. So many colors to choose from and very consistent. Eye brow wax was perfect! the gel mani looks good, but my overall experience could have been better. The pedi experience terrible. I gave a 2 and not a 1 because the mani alone deserves better. I made an appointment as they suggested, because when I tried to "walk-in" a time or two they asked if I could come back in a couple of hours. Please make an appointment in advance. It's hard to get into this lovely gem sometimes. Call me picky, but I love that there are curtains and it is not visible from the street. There are fresh flowers and the staff is attentive and friendly. I had a mani/pedi for a special occasion and they did a great job. It's been a week since and my nails are still perfect. The pedi was super relaxing and she really tried her best on my awful calloused heels. So brownie points for that. Cleanliness was impeccable! Overall: Clean, calm, truly a gem! One star is too many! I went to Royal Nails on Taylor Road (Montgomery, AL) at 3:00 on Thursday, 5/2/2019, and was told they do not accept walk-ins. I have been to this shop several times, so I politely asked since when and was not given an answer. I left the shop with a "thank you" then called back to schedule an appointment. Andy answered, put the phone down with out asking me to hold please, and after four minutes informed me that NO appointments were available. Shocked! Just to clarify, I asked him to repeat what he said, and he stated that he didn't have any openings. Then I asked if he had any openings the following day, week or the year to which he replied "no." Not shocked anymore. 30 minutes later, while at another shop, I had my daughter call Royal Nails using a "nondescript" voice. He asked for her name first, then told her that she did not have to make an appointment and could walk in THAT DAY!!! You cannot tell by her name that she is African American. I will never recommend this nail shop to anyone again. Based on the other reviews, Andy does not treat his African American customers the same as every other ethnicity. read more

Best nail salon I have ever been to!! Everything from the moment we walked in the door made it such a wonderful experience. Very nice, caring, attentive employees. My aunt, my daughter and I went for mani/pedi's and everyone was just great the entire time. The pedicure was phenomenal and the massage chairs are the best. Beautiful Spa, great service, but the male receptionist is not the type of person that should be working the front desk. He's not welcoming at all. His demeanor is really unfriendly. I am visiting from out of town and took my mother who's a disabled, Senior Citizen for a mani & pedi, who said (what I was thinking) the people working there didn't seem happy at all, based on our first impression as we entered the door. But the technician who serviced her had a better personality. Friendly customer-oriented and welcoming service is just as important as the atmosphere and services being rendered. read more

Highly rated and I see why. Saturday at 1400 they were crowded with customers. (We stopped in one nail place and only had one employee working that was ridiculous over 30 minute wait so we left). I need to preface this review by saying that I have never written a poor review of any salon or restaurant that I have ever been to. I have never been frustrated enough to do so, until today. I spent $55 on a gel pedicure, not including tip. I had not had a pedicure in probably 2 months, and I am a nurse and a runner, so my feet were in need for some TLC. The employees were incredibly helpful at helping me find a shade that matched the manicure I had on already, and this is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. The employee who do my pedicure was incredibly kind, but when I got home I realized it looked like I had done it myself. The bottom of my feet looked almost identical to what they looked like when I walked in, and the gel polish was all over the tops of my toes. I went to cvs and bought a foot scrubber to try and make the best of the situation, but the fact of the matter is, if I've spent $55 on a pedicure, I shouldn't have to go home to complete/clean up what should have been done in the salon. I would not recommend this nail salon. read more

I have been meaning to leave a review but have been out of town. I got my nails done here at the end of May. I will never return. The first thing the guy did was use the cuticle trimmers. He BUTCHERED my fingers. He literally ripped the cuticles from my fingers instead of cutting them. I kept telling him it was hurting and he said there is supposed to be a pinch. Four of my fingers were bleeding for the rest of the manicure and one of them was bleeding until I got home. He kept dabbing a solution on them to try and stop the bleeding, ran over the wounds numerous times with the buffer, and because of the wounds, he had to begin the gel polish well away from the cuticle area. The final product looked like my nails had already grown out for three weeks. I was expecting the price to be reduced even if the entire service was not compted because of the injuries and the fact they looked like they needed to be filled already. Nope. They charged me the full amount and looked at me like I was crazy for not leaving a tip. I expressed my disdain for the condition of my fingers and they did not seem to care too much. So for $55 I was wearing bandaids on four of my fingers for almost two weeks and had red swollen cuticles for a week after that. read more
