We had a terrific experience with Russ from Royal Installations. He made the whole daunting experience of trying to build and install our kitchen a breeze. All we had to do was build out or kitchen through ikea have the ordered delivered to our house and he took care of the rest. Anything that was missing or that we needed he knew the part number which made it so much easier to get through ikea. He communicated through the whole process and was able to fit us in to his schedule. A full kitchen build out only took him 3 days to complete. We designed our kitchen through ikea and ordered the cabinets. After 4 months we had all the pieces but ikea doesn't coordinate any demo of your old kitchen. So the hunt was on to find an all in 1 company who could demo and install. Russ had a cancellation and fit us in about a week after calling. The old kitchen was demolished and neatly stacked in the garage in 1 day. The next day he rented a trailer to haul away and dump all the old cabinets and countertops. Then 3 more days for a completed kitchen minus the countertops. Russ knows these cabinets in and out, we love our new kitchen. Important tip for people. Have your kitchen cleared out and cabinets emptied already before he gets there. Have the water lines disconnected and faucet removed from the sink if you want to save that. We had the kitchen emptied out but kept the sink hooked up until that morning, while I was disconnecting it I discovered a faulty shut off valve and made a trip to Home Depot. Luckily I was there because this would not be appropriate to expect Russ to take care of a plumbing issue. He is not not plumber or electrician, so make sure you have that stuff taken care of. read more

Unfortunately he's not very well versed in custom installations. He made mistakes and then charged extra, didn't read blueprints/plans thoroughly, and the worst part of it all is how defensive he was and quick to blame any party other than himself. Actually, no, the worst part was that I had paid for extra materials for a more built-in look, and he didn't know how to achieve it, blamed it on the manufacturer, and now I just have extra wood sitting around. I got a kitchen from Ikea, which was kind of a bumpy process. When it came time to install it, their instructions about scheduling installation were vague and concerning. There was a 3 month wait so I looked up independent installers. I'm so glad I did! Russ was an absolute joy to work with and clearly knew his stuff. If I could give Russ negative stars for unbelievably poor work ethic and terrible manners, I would. Our first kitchen installer had an emergency and we contacted Russ and told him that we were in a bind. He assured us that we were in good hands and that he'd be able to get the job done for us. Little did I know that Russ would completely disappear on us as well, and would again leave our job unfinished without so much as a single word of apology, and leave us scrambling to find someone to finish his work. Russ did initially show up and put in 2 days of good work, and his workmanship was solid. However, he told us he was going out of town for a week and that he would finish the job when he got back. He told us that he would fit us in since we were a 1 day job and he didn't want to leave the job unfinished. While he was away, I texted him a few times to ask about scheduling. He booked us for a date 3 weeks from his return, despite saying that he'd get our job done sooner. I had multiple other people I'd subbed out and needed to schedule, but were dependent on Russ finishing his part. I texted him a few times about scheduling and didn't hear back, then asked a question about our countertop height, which we'd previously discussed. Without any warning, he blocked me. See attached picture. Russ's response was unprofessional and uncalled for. I was already trying to troubleshoot my countertop height, (which I then had to figure out on my own), and being treated with this level of disrespect as a client was absolutely unthinkable and infuriating. Any mature professional could have easily said "I'm on vacation, but I'll get back to you in a few days. The counter height should be fine" or something alone those lines. This guy somehow thought it was okay to treat a client this way and resorted to the childish maneuver of blocking me without so much as attempting to communicate boundaries, as if I am supposed to be a mind reader and keep track of his travel schedule. I had no idea if he was back or not, and in no way deserved to be blocked for asking a simple question. I emailed and texted him to follow up and he ignored both. He left us high and dry and yet again scrambling to find a *third* person to finish our kitchen, and left us cooking out of our Instapot in our garage for 3 more weeks as we tried to find someone else. He never bothered to even reach out to me to apologize for standing us up or for being a jerk. This guy may know how to use power tools, but don't waste your time -- absolutely nothing is worth the emotional and logistical headache we went through having to deal with his tantrum and subsequent disappearance. read more

He worked closely with our GC and countertop fabricator to make sure we had our dream kitchen and that everything worked well including our cabinets/drawers opening properly in the island. There were some challenging aspects to our job including installing a downdraft vent and even customizing the Ikea cabinets to fit the space perfectly (he trimmed 24" depth cabinets to 22"). He has great attention to detail and even gave great advice since he completes these kitchen installs all the time. My experience in a nutshell: over promise, underdeliver. Had to finish the install myself and fix his mistakes along the way. I was remodeling my entire unit and hired Russell to install the IKEA cabinets in my small kitchen. Things started great, Russell was kind enough to waive the design fee because I had the basics planned out already. Installation was another story - there were constant delays from day one, and many issues that I had to fix myself because he won't show up... Misalignments, missing trim pieces, didn't even have enough clearance for my standard 30'' stove, and the two cabinets were different height LOL. I took pics of everything, ended up finishing the installation myself, but only got a refund on handles and toekick. Why take a job that you can't finish? The kitchen installation delayed my entire remodeling schedule, the poor craftsmanship along with the constant excuses was a big turn off too, I do freelance design work and wouldn't treat any of my clients this way. read more

Russ said he could start early and needed to break away after two days and come back and finish .I specifically asked will it only be trim and he promised to leave in a way, that let me put my stone counter tops in- But that didn't happen After that he wouldnt even answer a text. Even after i told him there was no rush . He collected his 40% But did not really complete 40% of the work. He installed just the boxs Not all , and never came back or had the common courtesy to respond to text and call or communicate in any way , just ghosting .. consequently this held up my project and cost more to get someone else to finish what he left .Keep Looking you dont need someone like this working on your project . I have a 13 year old kitchen from Lowe's that had a built-in fridge that needed to be removed and no one would/could help me because the cabinets had to be taken apart. Russell however agreed to take a look for me. It was not his normal work but he agreed to try to dismantle the cabinet so the appliance could be removed, then rebuild once the old fridge was out. I wasn't there so he sent me pictures of the progress, he called me when there was an increased cost/labor involved (due to unforseen sprinkler interference)... totally professional and flexible. Had the best experience with Russ! First, he gave me a line item quote, and I always prefer that to an overall bid. Because of that, we decided to assemble our own cabinets to save on costs, but even then, Russ was helpful. I called him to ask about assembling a specific cabinet (which remember, I didn't pay him for) and he was always responsive and helpful.
