If you want to work with someone who gives you two foot deep cabinets with no pullouts for your pots and pans, and wastes four long cabinets with sixteen pullout spice racks ( who on earth needs room for five thousand spices - and my partner is a chef!) - then Amin is your man! At this very moment I am paying for someone to cut out a shelve he built that prevents us from putting the electrical plates back on. I call Amin, tell him he built over them, he says it's my fault for not measuring correctly. Who knew I was supposed to be an expert at measuring for built-ins? I sure wish I had watched him like a hawk because the cabinets are now so high, my housekeeper can't reach the second shelf to put cups away. I assumed he would keep the same height as the old ones. He knows I'm only 5'5" . When I hesitated on his final payment, this man became monstrous, harassing me. And he never did fix any of the problems I have. All my complaints were answered with "you signed off on it," referring to diagrams no layman could possibly read. Or sketches with measurements i didn't realize that i should have measured myself, instead of trusting the expert. He took responsibility for nothing, and wants thousands of dollars more to fix his mistakes - won't even pull out the useless spice racks without charging me. Other than that...nice work, but definitely not worth it. read more

When I was looking for a contractor to remodel our kitchen I didn't know what to expect, but after meeting with Sam at CKG I knew that I wanted them to do the work. Initially, Sam came to our home and took the measurements for the kitchen and he told us to come to his store the following Saturday and he would have a 3D image of the kitchen prepared for us and we could pick out the materials. Our overall experience with California Kitchen Gallery was an amazing journey. We practically had a complete remodel of our home, first being our kitchen, guest bathroom, new flooring in all rooms, recess lighting in all rooms, stairs, and painting in each room. I tell you if we could have moved out and moved back in, we would of, so this process could go faster and smoother. However, though many hiccups and unforeseen issues we encountered, Sam was willing to work with us to the end. As a matter of fact, this job was completed at the end of May, 2015, he is still working with us to ensure that this project is complete and that we are satisfied. The Holy Grail of every kitchen reno is that it look "custom made." What does that exactly mean? Well, for one thing it is the difference between a $35,000 kitchen makeover and one that costs in the range of $65,000 upwards to $100,000 and beyond. We chose Sam at CKG in Sherman Oaks to manage and design our new kitchen because he came in with the most audacious design (wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling cabinets anyone??) at a reasonable mid-range price. His kitchens are "semi-custom", meaning he uses prefabricated, machine tooled cabinets and drawers with a variety of finishes you choose from his densely-packed showroom on Van Nuys Blvd. just off Ventura Blvd. Sam is a one-man band. He designs and then executes his design as your general contractor. My husband and I found comfort in that one man would oversee and be accountable for implementing the design, thus limiting the possibility of finger pointing if something should go wrong (which invariably and unavoidably it will). Indeed, there were "issues" that did come up but more critically Sam stayed true to the process and addressed the problems as they reared their ugly heads in good faith and resolved the problems without ever compromising the integrity of the end product. The end result is a truly gorgeous, highly functional kitchen that we love, that truly appears to be custom-made, and, in the one year since we've been cooking in the kitchen for ourselves and our one-year old son, has held up to the high bar that this fledgling chef demanded.
