I was in the mood for fried chicken wings on my way home and Yelp suggested this location with good reviews. I was greeted on entering, they had an extensive menu, many plate options. I went with 6 chicken wings with an order of tostones no drink for a total of $18.98 which I personally thought was a bit pricey. I did wait a bit but appreciated it as I knew the food wasn't sitting there. The young man said I think you will like the tostones and he was right. Nice taste and just crunchy enough. The chicken wings were good but I like them a bit crispier. Overall besides the tostones it was just ok for me.. you can dine in or take to go read more

Their food is good. Usually pretty fast service. Food is served up quickly unless they have to cook up a new batch of something. Unfortunately yesterday we didn't notice until we got home that our fries were not in our order. Called them and they said go back in with receipt and they will rectify it. read more

Food is awesome, cooked to order on fries. Price is the best around, try it. Definitely going back read more

They do a pretty good job frying their chicken. It doesn't taste like they're using old oil, which is a plus.

My go to location for fast food! Tastes great. Very helpful service as well, the staff are kind and professionals. A big thumbs up from me, worth your money for sure. read more

I popped by this restaurant between school visits with some coworkers. I got a 9 wings with fries - the wings were crispy and well seasoned! I love that they serve real, full sized wings and not the party wings that are real wings cut up & marketed as 2 little wings smh The fries were good too. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was clean - we ended up staying to eat at a comfy booth. I will definitely return for a quick, affordable lunch. read more

Food is old and cold, not consumable. I did get my money back but what a horrible experience.

Possibly one of the best chicken places around. I've been coming here for years and could only name a couple times when I've been disappointed. Here is why this chicken/food is so good. 1. Their chicken pieces aren't massive so they are always cooked thoroughly. Nothing is worse than biting into chicken with bloody bones. 2. The breading is always very crispy and their chicken taste fresh 98% of the time. Every time I've gone the food has been nice and hot. 3. Their prices are very reasonable. I got a 9 piece chicken wing box with fries for $10. 4. The seasoning they use is very addicting. 5. The fries are BOMB. I think they have a similar seasoning to the chicken and are crunchy but with a soft inside. 6. Friendly staff. Despite how long the line can get sometimes the service is very fast. read more

This Place is FIRE, I think i have been to one of their other locations in Providence. ANyways, we stopped here for some chicken, and i was impressed with their friend chicken and wings. Their fish sandwiches taste good too the last time i was here. Its a nice spot ot kick back and enjoy the vibe. Chicken is fresh and crispy with lots of flavor. People here are nice too. Cant wait to visit again. read more

Great place to get fried chicken for a potluck or party. Not a lot of places around Providence for good fried chicken, but this is much better than KFC. read more

The best fried chicken in the area. Approximately, $2 a piece after taxes depending how many you buy. We buy it to serve guests and everyone loves it. Apparently, 50 pieces is $68, so bulk ordering does provide a discount. Atmosphere is good if you just need to eat but I wouldn't bring a date here. read more

I really wanted to like this place - I had high hopes for something better than KFC, but it didn't get there, unfortunately. The chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes tasted like fake butter instant mashed potatoes from a box, and the cole slaw was too soupy. On the plus side, the chicken sandwich was ok, and the fries were good, but that isn't going to get me back there. read more

...and dinner time brought with it a hankering for fried chickens and stuff that goes with chicken - nothing too exotic or domestic - and fries. was mildly disappointed that we rolled up on a carry out because, well, hungry... still close enough to the house for hot eats: five piece chickens plus sides and two ribs plus fries and biscuits. half a chicken plus an extra thigh were large for their size, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, a little too much salt for margie but it was way tasty and munchable and yea, chickens :-) biscuits and gravy taters and slaw and fries are all appropriate and appropriately good with the meats. nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either... the name is Royal Chicken not Royal Sides so yea, chicken! beef ribs are kinda massive and red and sweet and sticky and since it's beef it's always a little bit of a let down from the goodness of baby backs :-\ but if big ribs are your thing you'll be alright here. go crazy and get yourself one or two to go with the chickens and make a night of it... read more

This place is a gem! I've had their fried chicken in house and also taken out and it's delicious! Perfect crisp to meat ratio. It's my go to if I want fried chicken. They also have lamb/chicken rice dishes which are also good. I would definitely recommend you try them out! read more

Very solid Fried Chicken. I picked up 2 breasts (they were on the small side) and they were juicy. The chicken was well cooked, fried great. I was amazed at the cost for each piece, less than $2. I also got the fries. They were smallish Fries, well cooked and had a good seasoning on them. I got the medium and it came in the same size box as the chicken. My wife got the nuggets (think McNugget) which came with fries and a couple of rolls. She liked them, I would pass on the nuggets and get the fried chicken. read more

Lots of food options here. Fries are really good! Wings were good. Friendly staff. The beef empanada was perfect.

Amazing food, this is one of those small places that you can always count on for really good food. New to the area and it was the first place we tried after getting moved into our new place. We both looked at each other and commented on the different types of food they had and the really reasonable prices as well. Will definitely be returning and absolutely take family visiting from out of town here as our first stop for lunch/dinner! read more

Ok folks, confession time. I like to stay in shape and almost always try to eat healthy. ..but every once in a while...when the craving hits...I'll murder a pile of fried chicken. First time I drove to Royal Fried Chicken, I wasn't sure I was gonna get out of the car. Let's just say I didn't "fit in" with the locals..but not to worry, the neighborhood improved significantly as I got closer. its just a block away from the famous Stanley Burgers and everything was cool once I pulled in..Also, theres plenty of parking near the door. The chicken is just fantastic. .cooked perfectly and just the right amount of spice...if I had to compare it to a chain, it would closely resemble Popeyes..with its touch of heat. Also, the prices are so low, its shocking. I think I got a 12 piece thighs, drums and breast for around 9 bucks. read more

They never fail to impress. They never have an off day. Theyre open 365 day a year. This place is SHITTTTTT! Food was old, mashed potatoes cold, coleslaw tastes like watered down mayo and they somehow messed up Mac&Cheese like how?! Ughhh DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE read more

due to the pandemic and the fact that people are not sitting down to eat, royal fried chicken is taking advantage. This place has served me the worst piece of chicken ever. the piece that i tried to eat had the right color however, it was bitter like they used the oil too many times or tried to deep fry sugar. not going to lie the other two times I've visited i had no complaints other than price. read more

Their food is fantastic. My family has gotten plenty of different things and all have been tasty and cooked perfectly. Their chicken sandwiches are bomb, as well as the fried corn poppers. Can't go wrong with their wings, and fries. If you're contemplating trying then definitely do it. read more

Almost all the times I've stopped here Mira (not sure if I spelled that correctly) usually serves me and she's very nice. I'm usually not left waiting for my order for too long either. So thanks! read more

I find this chicken has been sitting for awhile...never full flavor.!. over priced dried out chicken

Great tasting chicken..not greasy at all..my hubby loves their biscuits..mac & cheese..their coleslaw is tasty as well.

I saw this place in a newspaper article and decided to stop by. Great staff, happy and helpful. I was finally able to get fried chicken that was actually cooked and seasoned correctly. Even the french fries were correct. I can't wait to go back her for lunch. read more

So in a state that is famous for the Rhode Island Red, there is not a lot of fried chicken going on. One must naturally discount the KFC chains. First, what they lack in quality they more than make up for in price. Popeye's is probably the best 'chain' here by but they are few and far between and expensive as well. That brings us to Royal. They are not in the best place I guess, but they are only a few blocks from Stanley's Burger. The chicken was good and the prices were fantastic. They do great family packs that seem to fit just about any configuration you like. I would say I like the chicken here better than KFC, the prices are much better than either KFC or Popeye's and the sides are comparable. So bang for your buck, this is the place to go. read more

THIS IS CHICKEN. KFC is child's play compared to this kind of delicious, deep, get-yo-fingers-dirty soul food. I was skeptical at first bc I've lived in Manhattan and I've tried lots of chicken from random places throughout all the boroughs over the years. This, though, they're doing something right there... They should change the name to HEAVENLY CHICKEN. read more

Since we moved back to MA won't be seeing this place much, this use to be the spot! The fried chicken there is so good and fresh with an order of plantains you can't go wrong, defiantly will be coming back here whenever I am in RI. Customer service there is quick and friendly. read more

ordered a 12 piece combo with fries and it was amazing! the breading was amazing and the whole family loved it.

Best late night spot! The chicken is good and fresh. Super crispy and at a good price. I have yet to find a better coleslaw than Royal's slaw. It's creamy and sweet. Totally recommend especially if you get the late night munchies. read more

Best fried chicken around. The delivery guy is always on time and friendly. Will eat good with little money.

it feels a little strange to get friend chicken from a place that shares half of their store front with a makeshift grocery store, but the chicken here is awesome. The ribs were a miss but we get the 6 piece mixed with legs and thighs and it has never disappointed. you know your fried chicken is good when it leaves a grease stain on the floor mat of your car.
