I eat lamb over rice at least one a week from a few different establishments throughout Maryland…read more The lamb over rice here has the most flavorful lamb I've ever tasted. The rice was a little chewy but that lamb. Could've used more white sauce but again that lamb. Their red sauce is hot and thick like it should be. I hate red sauce that's just hot sauce. The location is the location so don't expect it to be fancy inside. The service is great and the guy at the window is friendly.

Kanye West Carry-Out & Grocery is where you go if you desperately want Kim Kardashian but are in a…read morepoor part of West Baltimore. Unfortunately the above sentence is a lie, and in fact this is just a lower-to-mid-price convenience store on a corner in one of the most run-down, underfunded neighbourhoods in the entire Western world. I think I was the only white person not just on this day at this time, but ever, from some of the looks I got, to enter this little mini mart. I got a soda (semi-decent selection, low-to-mid prices), because it was freaking hot. I was exploring the entire neighbourhood where the recent riots were. Police helicopters circled overhead. Lots of suspicious looks and nervous comments. Very sad. But this is a nice little beacon of normalcy and friendliness in the middle of the hood. If the products were slightly more affordable for the mostly-unemployed locals around here, I'd even give it a 5. You'd think Kanye would be able to give the groceries away, but alas.

In terms of gas pumps, there were a lot of gas pumps, and this location can handle a large rush. The bread was fresh, the order was ready upon entry, and the quality was on-point. The BBQ chicken flatbread was great, but the Nutty Bluejay crepe was somewhat disappointing. You need to eat it quick before it melts, and most of the contents are stored in the bottom of the cone they give you, making you have to eat through layers of cream and crepe wrap before getting to the contents. In addition, everything is very overpriced, making it only feasible for JHU students with spare dining dollars to waste.

My friends and I refuse to patronize this store until the conditions for the staff are improved. I WILL absolutely recommend others follow suite. There's cheaper local options near by anyway. Geresbeck's has been a staple in east Baltimore county for decades! This is the only place I go for…read morecrab meat, shrimp, lobster, packaged & baked goods and now- WESTERN FRIES!!! Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me.

Maybe I'm a little biased, but I have yet to find a hoagie anywhere that is as satisfying whether I'm sober or drunk. No joke, one of the main reasons that I'm tempted to attend the annual JHU Alumni Weekend is the prospect of being able to go to to Uni Mini for some steak egg and cheese, and there are seriously some days that I fantasize about hopping on a plane to Baltimore just to get myself one.
