I was looking for a place to get threading in Bloomington vs my usual go across town. Royal came up & was nearby so I decided to check it out. I should mention I also read reviews prior to going which were mostly good. Pulling up I could see a chair & a store or boutique of sorts. When I walked in there was one person finishing up getting serviced & paying. The owner did a very basic clean/swipe of the back of the chair before telling me to sit down. The chair could definitely use an upgrade. Between the last customer & talking her payment I did not notice her washing her hands. I'm not ocd but I just felt like she should know to do that. I told her I only wanted my brows cleaned up. Right off the bat a mirror was put in my face (I wear glasses & I'm basically blind without them, I removed them to get my brows done, keep that in mind) she explained that my brows were messed up where they arch, I explained I understand and I will fill in that part with makeup. She would thread a little then put the mirror in my face to keep going over how that same piece of eyebrow is messed up. She said she wanted to "educate" me. Again, I explained I just wanted my brows cleaned up & that I will worry about the gap in my arch later. She stopped often to keep explaining how my brow was messed up. After so many times, I felt uncomfortable and ready to go. At some point I was asked if I was interested in buying her husband's book. I respect the hustle but I have no extra money because I left with my brows still looking like crap & have to go somewhere else to get my brows done. There was no aftercare or trimming included either which are usually apart of the cleaning. Also the store wasn't the cleanest, there was a table in front of the chair with cosmetic tools and stuff but I also noticed the table itself was not clean. I pay a little less getting my brows done in the mall & I've never had to explain or have them explain to me my brow has a gap. They see it and just kind of do what I asked, clean it up. I've literally moved across the country and I still make a point to visit this place when I come back to visit friends. The wait is going to be long but it's going to be worth it - the knowledge she has just doesn't compare and she doesn't gate keep - I once had a visit where she walked me through how the removal of a single hair was going to create a domino effect and mess up the entire shape. When Nishma does my brows she takes her time on each and makes sure they are even. This girl rushed and me being the overly nice person I am I just paid and left, when I got home my husband asked if I even had anything done, he never notices anything so when he noticed my brows I got upset and had to try to fill them in! can't complain too much when you're only spending $12 but going off past experiences I thought this person would have been just as great. I got off work late and rushed to the location in Eden Prairie before they closed. When I got there at 7:50pm, the woman proceeded to tell me she was going to charge me 25% more because I came right before closing. This is the place I go to all of the time and I have never been charged extra for that. If this is a policy the company has, they should put a sign out like they do for other charges (I.e. extra bushy brows). I didn't trust that she would do my eyebrows well if I refused to pay 25% more so I had to leave. Really weird experience today. read more

I have been threading for years and this place was by far the best! I have coarse, thick eyebrows and often threading is a very painful experience for me, but not today at Royal Eyebrows! The shape is beautiful, the time was just right, and I did not leave looking red or puffy. Parking was cake, and there was no wait - although I went at "odd hours". Best eyebrow threading I've ever been to. Staff are very friendly and take the time to make sure your eyebrows are perfect . The only down side is that sometimes it can be a bit of a wait time (longest I've waited is 45min....still very worth it). I go every two weeks and have tried all the staff, they are all fantastic. * Charged more because the technician deemed my natural eyebrows too hairy and this is not written in their policy. Just as a heads up if you arrive after 8:00pm closing time they charged 25% extra fee but that is not the issue I faced today. I arrived around 7:15 with 4 people ahead of me. I left out around 9:00pm. The eyebrow charge was $12 and although I was not charged the 25% I was charged an additional fee because my eyebrows were deemed too hairy. There is nothing in the written policy that states if your eyebrows are too hairy you'll be charged more. I cannot help my genetics. I'm very disappointed. read more

I used to go to a threader located in Northeast Minneapolis, but thankfully these ladies are closer to home- and they're good! They have excellent attention to detail and really make sure that both eyebrows look the same. $12 + tip for eyebrows, which is average here, and well worth it. I tried out Royale Threading because I'd heard the price was a bargain, and I happened to be at Southdale for some H&M shopping. At first, it was hard to find, so I called. The person who answered didn't understand me and hung up on me. I walked around a bit more and found the kiosk. The experience was very typical of mall beauty. It was awkward, and I couldn't wait for it to end. I've had my eyebrows threaded dozens of times, and this was by far the most painful. My theory is that she removed too many hairs individually with the thread, and also removed longer hairs that had been a part of my basic shape. My end result wasn't horrible. Shaping what I have is now difficult, though. She definitely went too thin. I'll have to let them grow in quite a bit before I can go somewhere to have them done properly. I think for what this place is, the price is OK. Threading is a pretty rare skill as far as what you can find in Minnesota, so $10 at the mall isn't too shabby. Like Nadia S., I would prefer something a little more secluded than a kiosk. If you're willing to spend more, there are better options. However, if you're at the mall looking like Bert from Sesame Street, maybe it's worth a little pain and a little change. read more

What an unexpected find! Stopped in while visiting my daughter from NY. Prices were very reasonable and the shop owner/eyebrow technician was extremely knowledgeable. She spent a good 25 minutes on my eyebrows she fixed my eyebrows from a bad experience! This place is located in a little strip on Lyndale. Parking was kind of a pain with a Starbucks being just a few doors down, but it's worth it. At first I thought it was a clothing boutique when I walked in, but I saw the two salon chairs near the back of the store. The lady who greeted me was very friendly and took her time on my brows. She was so meticulous in her work. After each brow was done, she showed me how it looked before moving onto the other side. In the end, my brows looked fantastic. There are two chairs in this store meaning there could be two workers working here at a given time .
