I've been going to Roya for about 10 years for alterations/tailoring and she is truly the best. She's also an extremely kind person and consistently drama free. She listens to your directions very well and will also let you know what she thinks is best. Since she is also a designer herself she always knows exactly what to do to give you the look and fit that you desire without changing the style of your couture pieces. Thank you Roya for saving my wedding dress!!! I purchased a made to order wedding dress and was unhappy with the way it was done and fit. I had the place where I purchased the dress from do alterations and they were not done well, so I asked them to stop working on the dress. Luckily, a stylist friend recommended I take my dress to Roya and I so thankful I did! My wedding was in 3 weeks and Roya was able to fix the poor quality of work and altered the dress to my liking. Unfortunately, although she was recommended to me, my experience here for my wedding dress was one of the most stressful parts of my entire wedding. I took my dress in 7 weeks prior to my wedding (to intentionally avoid last minute stress). My quote was more expensive than what my bridal shop had quoted (and they are a high end store)--I was able to talk her down a couple of dollars and proceeded hoping her quality of work would be worth the $500 for the minimal alterations my dress needed. She cancelled one of my fittings 30 minutes before it was scheduled, which was really too bad because I had driven up to Sherman Oaks and rearranged my work day to accommodate the fitting. This was 10 days prior to my wedding. She took in part of the dress that fit me perfectly beforehand, and the new seam bunched and rippled the dress. She asked if I was on my period and bloated to see if she could pass the blame of the dress pulling on ME, but that wasn't the case. She "tried" to fix it a handful of times but it looked exactly the same after each "try." I honestly don't think she ever attempted to redo the seam until my last visit two days before my wedding when I was nearly in tears and brought in a friend with a fashion design background and my friend was able to easily identify the poor workmanship on the seam and articulate what needed to be fixed to Roya. She got the seam looking better, but the dress never fit as perfectly to my body as it did before I took it to Roya. I wish I had gone elsewhere. Nice lady, but when you're wedding planning, the last thing you want is added unnecessary stress and a lack of professionalism. Especially when the stress costs you $500. :( read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! From my experience Roya is just interested in money....She is arrogant, condescending and she tried to take advantage of me financially. I needed to have a cap sleeve re-hemmed - the hem was coming out... 1) Roya first said - I have to change both sleeves for them to - I said no you don't....( I spent many years in the garment center) 2) Without even looking at her thread selection - she then said she didn't have the color thread to match and she would need to buy a thread it. I said absolutley not.....on both 1) it's a cap sleeve- just one cap sleeve needs to be fixed 2) I asked to see her threads - Roya had a thread that matched. (Surprise) When I picked up the dress - the original hanger and bag that came with the dress - were gone! I asked her to locate at least the hanger - as it was a very special hanger that are difficult to fine these days...... She tried to give me an inferior hanger. Never in my life did I drop off a garment at a seamstress and not have the hanger/nor garment bag returned...... not to mention.... being told - she did not have a thread that matched. I felt Roya was nickle and diming me. She used my special hanger for another customers garment OR she would have returned it to me. AWFUL BUSINESS PRACTICES - SEEMS TO BE UNETHICAL! When I brought a special occasion dress in for a hem Roya told me that the dress also needed some alterations to the bodice. The dress then fit perfectly. She then tailored a dress which now is a perfect fit- as good as any made to measure garment. She is highly skilled with a needle and because she is so detail oriented I have total faith in her work. honestly, this was the absolute WORST experience. she ruined one of my dresses, did NOT do what I asked and wasted so much of my time. I went to see Roya based on positive Yelp reviews, and noticed her shop was right down the street from where I live. It was a Saturday, and I had to sit for about 25 minutes while she finished with another customer (and it was HOT.) i had two dresses that needed work. one was a never-worn nicole miller that was too big (I'd been waiting for the right occasion, and I had a wedding I wanted to wear it to). the second dress was gold, from nordstrom, and highly discounted due to some loose beads. I asked for a very specific solution to fix the beads - I wanted them a certain way. It was also large, so I asked for it to be taken in. When she saw the second dress, Roya looked at me and said, you like this dress? The material...it just...it looks very cheap. (Tell that to Shelli Segal.) But I do for you, she says. (Gee. Thanks.) The Nicole Miller dress, though, was "worth the money," she said. Beautiful. She said she'd need a week, and then started talking to another customer. I waited and waited for her to stop talking (I'd been there over an hour at this point) -- when she FINALLY gave me my ticket. She was going to charge me $75 for the work done on the Nicole Miller dress...which seemed rather high. So, I asked if she could please just take in the dress, and not shorten it. So the cost went down. But, she still said she needed a week. That next Saturday, I had a migraine headache the size of Texas and couldn't move, and did not get to pick up my dress. I was leaving town soon for the wedding, so I had to take off work just to pick up the dress during the week, because I do NOT work close to home. I set the parking meter for about 30 minutes, thinking that would surely be enough time. When I walked in, she remembered me (awww) and went to get the dresses. First she showed me the second dress. When I saw the beads, though, it was COMPLETELY different than what I'd asked for. When I explained, she said, "Oh, honey, no. This look better." (Regardless Roya - it's not what I paid you to do.) She was so condescending. Then, it got REALLY bad. I almost cried. I was so excited to try on the Nicole Miller -- you have no idea. I'd been waiting literally years to wear this dress! I put it on...and it. looked. HORRIBLE. The area underneath both arms completely bunches up. It looks so awful. When I pointed it out to Roya, she said, "Oh no honey, that's....the dress, it's made that way. You just not pay attention before." I said, um, you're telling me Nicole Miller made her dress designed to bunch like this? (It's a flowy dress, not the amazingly super-fitted kind.) And she says, "Yes, it's the dress. The dress is a baaaaasic cut. That is why. You really just not pay attention before but I fix it." I've had the dress for OVER TWO YEARS, tried it on at least two dozen times, I PAID attention. She said she'd try to fix it, when could I pick it up? I explained there was no way to pick it up another time, I was leaving town. So she took it back, and I put 30 more minutes in the parking meter. I tried it on again and it still looked pretty awful. I was SO SAD. But I had to get to work. So I handed Roya my credit card. She swiped it like 30 times, but her phone kept saying "connection error." She says, do you have another way to pay? I'm like, NO. She then says wait, the card went through! But it was declined. A customer waiting said, oh just call your Credit Card company, it happens to me all the time. (Thanks, but I'd already used my card that morning. Also, it has NEVER been declined). I finally gave in and called. The credit card company was like, um, no, no record of that charge, no record of any decline. So I tell her again that it's her internet. She gets out her iPad. The charge still doesn't work (duh). She asks me to write down my credit card information and leave it with her. Um, WTF?!?!?! How unprofessional is that?!!?! I've NEVER heard of such a thing. I do not just write down my credit card information and leave it, especially with someone who lost my trust. By this point, I'd had to go BACK out to the meter and pay even more for parking. I finally found a check, and left it with her. (It wound up being a huge issue with the minimum balance on that account but I won't get into it...).... Later, I tried on the dresses for a friend. When I put on the gold dress with the beads, there were still 3 pins stuck in it!!! and two of them stabbed me. Really bad. Pretty sure she didn't take it in AT ALL, even though I paid for it. It's still huge. In case you're still reading this, I was not able to wear EITHER dress to the wedding, and had to wear an old one. And I'm not sure I'll ever be able to wear the beautiful one, it's ruined. :( Do not go here. Save your money and your time and your clothes :( read more

I am extremely particular and she always takes her time and is very patient with any of my concerns or requests. She knows what looks best on a woman's body and what the perfect proportions are.
