I'd wanted to try Texas Roadhouse for a long time. I actually tried visiting another location once,…read morebut the wait was so long that I decided to leave. This time I finally got to experience it with some coworkers, and I'm glad I did. Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and she made the whole experience even better. Even though the restaurant was very busy, she stayed attentive and always had a smile on her face. The only downside was the waiting. Even with joining the waitlist ahead of time, we still had to wait a bit for our table. The food also took a little while to come out, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it was understandable and definitely not because the staff wasn't working hard. The food was worth it. We shared the Cactus Blossom as an appetizer, and I ordered the steak with mushrooms and onions. Everything tasted great, the portions were generous, and now I understand why this place is always so busy. I'll definitely be back.

I visit this Texas Roadhouse often. Like ornate it offers a nice variety of steaks, chicken, chops…read moreand ribs. It is very popular and can be quite noisy and very crowded during peak hours. To minimize wait time I strongly recommend their app which you can use at any location. You sign in and when when you arrive you can get in the waiting list while waiting in your car. When a table opens up they text you and you can then go right to the front of the line. The other way to avoid lines is to go early if you can. They open at 3pm weekdays and before 5 you can get very decent early bird prices for several menu items. The food is very good, especially for the price. I usually get a steak which comes perfectly done to order. Seasoned just right. I like the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes that you can get topped with a variety of toppings. I've also tried the pork chops and ribs which were great, beef kabobs with grilled onions and peppers on rice or mashed potatoes (yum). I've tried the prime rib which is also good but frankly the steaks are better. Recently I tried their country fried steak for the first time. It was ginormous! Filled the entire plate. I will admit though that I was a bit disappointed. I've enjoyed better at several breakfast spots even though at half the size. I love the cactus blossom which is their version of Outback's Blooming Onion. I think both are equally delicious. Their BBQ rib appetizer actually comes with fries and can make a reasonable entree for some diners. Like I said the only negative I have here is the crowds and the noise. But I guess that's also supposed to be its charm? Ugh

For a small town like Mercersburg, Pa., I can best describe this coffee shop as chic. It reminds me…read moreof the coffee shops and cafes you would find in upscale neighborhoods in Manhattan, N.Y. The building the shop is in, experienced a major renovation. The building sat empty for many years and was completely renovated. The interior is beautifully decorated and inviting. There are tables and chairs, and counters to sit and eat at and sofas for lounging. Customers can sit and browse the internet on their laptops and cellphones while enjoying a sandwich and coffee . The dining area and bathrooms are spotless. I tried a bagel and found it dense, not airy of light. The coffee is good. Most of their baked products are made in house. They offer bagels, pastries, cakes, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and more. Prices are slightly higher than other similar shops. However, the stores ambiance makes it worth the extra expense. The staff members are pleasant and friendly and service is quick. There is paid metered street parking available. A quarter will buy you an hour of time. This shop is very popular with the locals and especially with the high school students from the prestigious Mercersburg Academy. If your looking for a relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee, food and a place to meet with friends and family, this is the place. I recommend visiting this shop for a slightly elevated experience.

So: I'm a long time fan of Burger King. I think that the Whopper is the second-best chain fast food…read moreburger around. (5 Guys rules, baby!). Given the recent hype, I had to try the new-and-improved Whopper. BK may have just lost me as a customer. The bun is now WAAAAY too sweet. It used to be something you used to hold the meat, now it's taken on. Starting role, and not in a good way. And I don't know what they've done with the meat. It's lost its flame-charred taste, and it's overpowered by the really sweet sauce (which may not have been changed but it stayed in the background in the past). Altogether the new Whopper has slipped way down my burger list - far down. If I wanted sweet I would have gone to Dairy Queen. I'll give it another shot at another restaurant to make sure this wasn't an outlier so look for an update in the near future.

Upon entry to the establishment we were surprised to see the nice setup they have for dine in…read moreguests considering they are next door to a gas station. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. We had seen a review on them and had been wanting to come pay them a visit but their hours are a little wonky as they open for a few hours and close down for a few and open back up for dinner time. This is unfortunate for us because we commute 50 minutes one way to work and when we come home they are always closed by 2:00 and don't open until 4:00 sadly. Nevertheless, we had a chance to pop in today due to the holidays. We ordered the Al's Steak Special and the Italian sub. We thoroughly enjoyed both of them with having a few things we commented on and noticed to one another. My husband loves trying Italian subs all over and so he had to try it here. The flavor was nice and the bread was great.. the middle was a little light as you can see the meat thinly layered in the sub roll and then filler of the lettuce and tomatoes and red onion. So, if you typically like an Italian thick/heavy with the meat, this may not be your preferred selection here. However, it did taste good ! I love finding a good cheesesteak and the review we saw was for just that, so I had to try it! Again, the bread was noticeably delish and not soggy at all! I had mine with everything but tomatoes. I think for my own preference I would ask them to cook my green peppers longer. Again, to each their own! Flavor was good.. added a little salt/pepper but it was full and very good. I would get it again.. and their menu options look really good so we will have to come back if we can fit into their open hours.. I am sure they are overlooked often being next to a gas station but I have to share that you shouldn't skip out on them.. they are work a try !
