Total 90s retro throwback.
Matthew U.

Yo, stepping into this location was like being transported back to the 50s via the 90s. Y'all remember when BK went through that identity crisis where they attempted to reinvent themselves? Well this one is still dealing with it (honestly, I'm cool with it, I like the diner feel they are trying to give off). I love that they gave this place some personality. The huge records on the ceiling, the sunroom, and the '57 Chevy shaped booth, totally amazing for me. On my way back home from a recent trip to DC I wanted to make sure I ate well ahead of time and not forget until I was close enough to home and I'd have no options. Plus I needed to get out and stretch my legs. When I got out of my car the first thing I noticed is that it is situated in a bit of a wonky area. It is a dead end and the only thing on this road is the BK. Ordering was pretty quick and simple. I went with what I knew. I did opt for the onion rings instead of the fries. We all know what that equates to the next day, but I digress. The food was prepared fairly quickly and I was off to do my thing. The place is kept up nicely. Even though it is an older, read nostalgic, BK model, everything looked like that original set up right down to that pale pastel color scheme. There is even outdoor seating if you want to take in the air. Of course I took one of those BK crowns so that I could at least play a kid again. Great, weird stop.

Cool interior!

This is a really cool retro-style Burger King in true diner form: little Cadillac seats to sit in, awesome exterior, and still has all the typical BK offerings you (presumably) already enjoy if you're bothering to read this review in the first place. I came here having no idea of its fantastic styling; I really just wanted to hop off the highway to get some food while I finished off some emergency work on my laptop. Imagine my surprise when I turn into the lot and see all the cool neon lights! It wasn't super busy when I went though there is plenty of inside seating available (including the little car booths!). The staff were pleasant to deal with (within the context of it being fast food anyway) and I got my order quickly. Sadly they were out of a few items on the menu but they still had my usual favorites. I don't feel like describing Burger King food makes a lot of sense since any reader has probably enjoyed it many times before, though their fries are crispy and their burgers are deliciously flame-broiled like they are at every other location (and cheap, as always). This particular location was kept very clean, and a staff member was going around and sweeping up despite the place already being in good shape. If you happen to be on the highway nearby or just in the area for some reason, this place is worth stopping by. Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Cool retro styling both inside and out! - Fantastic fast food prices (lower than McDonald's and Wendy's pretty much everywhere). - Quality food for what you're paying. - Pleasant staff. - Lots of parking. Cons: - BK is having the same supply issues that many other places are, so be ready to make some compromises on your order if you like the more niche menu items.

Super clean. Friendly staff. Food hot and fresh. An example that fast food chains can do it right if they choose.

Submitted for your approval... Imagine, if you will, a…read moresudden, inexplicable craving for two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. Your mind immediately wanders to McDonald's. But then reality intervenes. Do you really want two beef patties with the thickness and structural integrity of wet newspaper? Of course not. And that, dear reader, is when you find yourself crossing an invisible threshold into a place where ordinary appetites encounter extraordinary proportions. A place known simply as The Gettysburger Company. Our story begins in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, just off the roundabout. The entrance, tucked along the side toward the rear, has the curious discretion of a Prohibition-era speakeasy. Inside awaits an atmosphere somewhere between a classic American diner and a rustic lodge, with seating in the front, back, and an outdoor courtyard. Our traveler read a familiar arrangement of ingredients bearing an uncanny resemblance to that famous burger beneath the Golden Arches. Except this particular specimen exists in another dimension entirely. When he placed the order, the friendly waiter asked not once, but twice, whether he was absolutely certain. "Hell yeah!" He declared, blissfully unaware of the enormity of his decision. And then came the waiting. Minutes passed. Doubt crept in. Had he made a terrible mistake? Had his appetite written a check his stomach couldn't cash? Suddenly, the waiter returned. But something was different. He required BOTH HANDS to lower the meal onto the table. There it stood. A towering monument to bovine magnificence. An architectural impossibility held together by a single wooden skewer, crowned with a pickle like some peculiar monument to mankind's culinary ambition. Our traveler's eyes widened. His mouth watered. Somewhere, the laws of physics quietly resigned. He attempted to pick it up like an ordinary hamburger. A foolish assumption. This was no ordinary hamburger. A knife became necessary to bisect the beast. And then came the first bite. The flavor is a hundredfold better, and the beef patties possess the thickness of regulation hockey pucks. Beautifully grilled to medium, the beef was juicy, deeply flavorful, and unmistakably authentic. Every ingredient played its part in perfect harmony. Nothing overwhelmed. Nothing disappointed. A burger of astonishing proportions that somehow delivered equally astonishing flavor. It was a WOW moment. The fries, meanwhile, were another curious phenomenon. Thick, twisted creations, crispy on the outside, tender within, and seasoned with just enough precision to make one question why ordinary French fries continue to exist. The Gettysburger Company offers an assortment of burgers, from familiar classics to creations that seem to challenge the very boundaries of human appetite. And should you somehow survive the main course with room to spare, the dessert menu promises yet another journey beyond the limits of conventional reality. And so we leave our hungry traveler, forever changed by an encounter with a sandwich of impossible dimensions. A man who entered seeking an ordinary burger and discovered that somewhere between appetite and excess lies culinary perfection. A place where patties are thick, expectations are shattered, and the only thing more extraordinary than the burger is the realization that you actually finished it. You've just crossed over into... the Twilight Zone. You've been warned.

I had the smokehouse burger. I ordered it medium rare and it was served exactly how I ordered it. It was pink, moist, juicy and not over cooked. The burger was not a frozen or preformed patty. I could see the patty was hand formed. We were sat immediately at a table not far from the kitchen. Each of the dozen or so tables comfortably sits four people each. Our server was friendly, cheerful and attentive. There is a bar in the main dining area serving liquor and beer. In the back of the bar is a pool table and an outdoor patio also with a bar and several tables, offering a great way to eat and relax outside. There are two bathrooms, one inside the restaurant and the other is outside by the patio. The one by the patio is a little cleaner and better maintained. Burger prices are a little on the high side, averaging between $17.00. However, you are getting a superior burger. Street parking can be a bit of a challenge due to the restaurant being located in downtown Gettysburg. Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays until 1 PM. This is a nice local pub to meet up with friends and family for a casual eating experience I recommend giving this joint a try. The qualitu of the burgers alone make it worth while.

So just to be mindful for those who might have dairy or egg allergies. The bun has egg and they butter them during the toasting process. Burgers: 4/5 As for the burgers, they are a Smashburger style and they have a crisp outside texture and juicy inside. Overall, I would say that the burgers are pretty solid burgers. The fries and the onion rings are pretty great, but the onion rings are really good if you are a fan, totally get them. Overall, this is a casual burger place that has a bar attached, a solid burger! It is a little bit expensive. I think we dropped $70 for two kids burgers and three regular burgers with fries and onion rings. But I'd go again!

MELT Gourmet Cheeseburgers must be operated by culinary lunatics. I mean that as the highest…read morepossible compliment. A normal person looks at a hamburger and asks, "Would you like cheese on that?" The people at MELT apparently look at one and ask, "How can we make this so extraordinary that customers begin questioning whether everything they previously called a burger was actually just meat occupying bread?" I ordered the Paris Burger: Premium beef char-grilled with roasted garlic, then topped with melted French Brie, balsamic-glazed onions, baby spinach, and a smear of Dijon mustard on a house-made bun. This ingredient list sounds less like a hamburger and more like several upscale appetizers became trapped in an elevator and decided to form a government. I do not know what kind of inspired nut job first assembled this combination, but everything contributes to everything else. The Brie, roasted garlic, sweet richness of the balsamic-glazed onions, spinach, and Dijon do not compete for attention; they cooperate with suspicious precision. The flavor is exquisite. This should not be placed in the same category as ordinary burgers unless the category is titled "Round Foods That Technically Contain Beef." And then there is the bun. Most hamburger buns eventually choose one of two career paths: Damp sponge or roofing material. This one rejected both. It was cooked to that nearly mythical point between soft and soggy, firm and crunchy. It supported the burger without collapsing, disintegrating, or scraping the roof of my mouth like an edible Brillo pad. Perfection. For a side, I ordered the sweet potato fries. They were already very good, which apparently was considered insufficient by the resident mad scientists. Someone had the completely unreasonable idea of serving them with marshmallow fluff. Marshmallow fluff. With sweet potato fries. This sounds like a suggestion made at 2:00 a.m. by someone who should have been politely escorted away from the kitchen. Instead, that person may be a genius. The combination is incredible. The salty sweet potato fries dipped in marshmallow fluff produced one of those moments when your brain objects on principle while your hand quietly reaches for another fry. This proves that not every insane idea is crazy; some merely require dipping sauce. I also had the Thin Mint shake, which was excellent except for the only legitimate complaint I could manufacture during the entire meal: It came with an ordinary straw. Every attempt to drink it became a small plumbing emergency when a piece of Thin Mint lodged in the opening. Sip, blockage, investigate, clear obstruction, repeat. I was not drinking a milkshake so much as performing routine maintenance on a delicious cookie pipeline. A proper milkshake straw would eliminate the one defect in an otherwise outstanding operation. This was not merely a good meal from a burger joint. It was a culinary experience disguised as casual food. The Paris Burger was phenomenal, the fries and marshmallow fluff were an act of benevolent madness, and even my complaint involves the shake containing too many actual pieces of Thin Mint to pass through standard beverage infrastructure. MELT is almost worth traveling to Virginia for by itself. If the people running this place are insane, nobody intervene. Whatever treatment would make them normal might ruin the menu.

I'll admit I was…read morea little nervous walking in -- we dropped $45 on two burgers, one fry, and a beer, so expectations were high. The nerves come from the fact that I consider myself a "Burger God." I've hunted down some of the best burger joints the country -- and the world -- has to offer, so I was trusting this place to deliver. Right away, the dressing felt sloppy. The cold toppings were piled on top of the meat, pulling heat out of the patty fast. The beef itself was fresh and juicy, but the bun paid the price -- soaking up oil and fat until it lost all structural integrity. You can see it in the photo: completely flattened. Summary: Melt Gourmet's burgers are genuinely good, and it starts with the quality of beef they source. Where they're leaving points on the table is in how the burger is dressed -- and a stronger hand with seasoning would take it even further. The patty itself was a little under-seasoned, but the freshness of the beef and the crunch of the LTOP (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) kept me engaged. Fresh-baked buns daily are another point in their favor, enough to bump my score from a 6 to a 7. What kept it from climbing higher was the construction: the way it's dressed and presented practically guarantees a mess with the first bite. The fix is simple -- onions, pickles, and lettuce should sit directly on the bottom bun, with tomato layered above them. Stacking the wet ingredients on top instead cools the cheese and patty fast, and every bite sends juice running rather than staying put. The result is flavor that ends up on your forearm instead of your tongue.

This place is right on the property for an outdoor adventure park that does tubing in the winter and river tubing/ ropes courses/camp in the summer. Being in Harper's ferry and given the neighboring business this is a captive audience gold mine for a restaurant. Sadly, we came here on a Saturday and it was PAINFULLY obvious their service capabilities could not match the customer demand signal. We started at 4PM and they were about at 50% capacity (generously). You order your own food at the bar or via QR code. This is a standard practice so nothing wrong there, but it did take us about 10 minutes to then get our drinks. The food came out within 15 minutes. Food was descent if not a little on the expensive side. Beer was fairly priced. They don't have a super large menu and they were out of a handful of things. Like for one, being out of iced tea seemed like an easy fix from my perspective working in bar/restaurant management in the past. We went and enjoyed the Christmas lights and then went back in around 615PM for a nightcap. This is where things went off the rails. The inside was full the outter tables were 40-50% taken. Overall I would say 80% of a jam packed house. We ordered 2 Irish coffees and a beer. 25 minutes later I went in to check on our drinks and the patrons faces inside said it all. The couple at the bar had been waiting 30 minutes to pay their bill, one lady got up and left because people had come in after her, ordered the same thing, eaten, paid, and left before she got her food. They hadn't even started our drinks and when I went to the bathroom I could see the kitchen order display and half their tickets were lagging, badly. From what I could tell they had 3 people tending bar/running food plus other food runners. I don't know what the kitchen staffing was. This place should be KILLING it with how they are set up location/clientele wise but I can say for certain they will take a hit on return business tonight. This place has great potential and I hope for the owner's sake this was an off night. As a bartender/bar manager watching personnel work tempo, efficiency, etc... I was screaming inside.
