I got the three chicken tender combo with fries. The person taking my order included a 5 percent discount for Seniors without me asking for it. (A few years ago, that would have ticked me off. But I'll admit it's a no brainer at this point, so I appreciate it. Ha ha.) The restaurant is clean and the fixins bar well stocked. There are several sauces available for your food, including a cowboy sauce, a bbq (a bit weak), horseradish sauce and, of course, ketchup. There's a soda dispenser with 10 sodas, a separate lemonade dispenser and others for tea. Pretty nice drink selection. The atmosphere is fine. Well lit, clean eating area. Music (country) playing in the background that's not too loud. As I'm sitting here, the folks in the kitchen are talking with each other really loud - it's a bit annoying since I can't hear the music. The food's good. Could be a bit more hot. It's not cold, but the fries and chicken both should be a bit more hot temperature-wise. I like the coating on the chicken tenders. And they are pretty meaty. Overall, a decent meal in a decent place. I'd like to give a 3.5 - the food could be hotter. If the food had been hot I would have gone with a 4. But I think these tenders were sitting in a warming tray for a while and lost their temp. Same with the fries. read more

Great customer service, employees had great communication, compared to other locations this roy rogers in Gaithersburg was well maintained and sanitized. And i was surprised that the day i had chosen to grab some food they had guys power-washing the outside which shows cleanliness and well maintenance for this place. They are AlWAYS short staffed. There will be absolutely no one in the drive thru and they still make you pull in a space to wait for food.

Worst Roy Rogers ever. Spent $25 on two double cheeseburgers and one Double R Bar. The cheeseburgers looked like they were run over by a car and the Double R Bar had no burger or ham. Just cheese! Completely incompetent people that work there that obviously don't give a crap what goes out the door. The manager was a complete idiot too. A completely infuriating experience and I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know not to waste your time on this disaster of a fast food restaurant. Absolute trash customer service!!! Just went to grab breakfast from the drive thru and asked for creamed chip beef. I was told it's sold out. I say well you should probably indicate that. She says well it says it on the menu. I'm looking right at it so no it does not say it. Then I end up asking for 2 sandwiches and French toast sticks with raspberry sauce. I get one sandwich and no sauce. After the third time of the person bringing me the wrong item he then decides to tell me they don't have the sauce. 1. Tell me that. 2. Don't just give me maple syrup and hope I don't notice. 3. If you don't have the temperament for customer service then don't be in customer service. Did a nostalgia stop and brought my toddler as my mother did when I was a tot. Well, that's out of my system! Bad customer service even for fast food. It should not take 25 minutes to get a leg of chicken and fries. And then they got my order wrong. Add in a screaming toddler and skeezy patrons who I'm sure were lovely people once you got to know them, and it'll be a hard ass next time. This was my first visit at a Roy Rogers and probably would be the last. We got the Tailgate MVP Special for to go. Waited about 10-15 mins as they fresh dropped the chicken (No Big Deal). Got home and realize we are missing one of large coleslaw side. The chicken was fresh but still lacked flavors, the breading was 50% of the actual chicken LOL!! And the two sides we did get (fries and mashed potatoes) were just terrible as well! Do not recommend the food here! Waste of money and time! read more

If you've never eaten at a Roy Roger's, well, you're in for a treat. DO NOT confuse this with an Arby's; here, the roast beef is real slices, not flaked and formed something-or-other. Remember, when you're eating here, focus on what they do so well; Roast beef. FOCUS!!! When ordering, try to get a small side cup of Au jus. It makes the sandwich so much better. DON'T add salt- the sandwich has enough. Size- seems to have shrunk a little in this economy. I could be wrong. Every Roy's has a Fixin's bar- it's a wonderful, fresh looking, cold bar that has really high quality 'fixin's' for your burger or roast beef sandwich. I have always gone to this Roy Rogers! I used to love it. My last experience changed that. I ordered at the drive-thru (only car) and was told that the chicken was going to take 6 min to cook and was told to park in a spot. No problem. 15 minutes went by, then 20. I finally went inside and NO customers were there. They had forgotten about me...and the supervisor on duty tried to give me food that had been sitting there, cold, for over 20 min. To top it off, they packed tenders and not chicken, causing my husband to have to go back to correct it. We didn't even get an apology. We will NOT be back! read more

The custome service here is horrible. I would be more understanding if the place was busy, but we literally were the only patrons in the restaurant at that time. There wasn't chicken available and we agreed to wait 15minutes for a fresh batch. Once food was ready, they never called our number or even a courtesy shout out to say food is ready. Made the mistake of making a delivery order from this Lost Knife Road Roy Rogers. The ordering went fine, the delivery driver was friendly and great. When we opened the order, we discovered our tenders and mashed potatoes were missing. I then called the Door Dash driver who asked me to call the restaurant, which I did. When I explained the issue, the staff member of the Roy Rogers at Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg told me they put everything into the bag and took pictures. I explained that there were lots of items, but ONE item was missing. I was told I was a liar, and they were too busy and there was nothing they could do about it. Was in line, cashier let old white man cut who was standing on the side infront of line who had already ordered and wanted to order something else, when my time came they asked what I wanted and walked away mid order and I had to repeat what I wanted. Since the virus the service here has really gone down the tubes. For whatever reason they won't unlock the doors to place orders inside. I'm not asking to sit inside. I get it, we can't! However forcing everyone into the drive-thur doesn't work. Also, for whatever reason every time we've gone since this started they never have salads. Is there a lettuce or vegetable shortage I'm not aware of!? People should be eating healthier right now and forcing everyone to eat fries or coleslaw, isn't the answer! Stopped by for lunch. A manager said to one of the employees behind the counter "Don't forget the biscuit." Employee then grabs an empty paper cup, and drops the cup on the floor. Without skipping a beat, the employee takes the cup he just dropped and scoops up a biscuit from the tray of biscuits and places it on my tray. This Roy Rogers location is a blast from the past. The fixing's bar has always been fresh and not wilted, even by evening meals. They hire staff who are customer oriented. Some of them have been there close to 10 years. They inspire loyalty in their staff. Just discovered that they have milk shakes -- real dairy milk, real 2 - 3 scoops of real ice cream. Bathrooms are spotless despite being in an area of Gaithersburg where people use the public bathrooms as their public bath. read more

This is the Roy Rogers at Montgomery Village Crossing. I ate here while waiting for a friend so that we could watch the Skins game. Again, I find myself following the old folks. Apparently, I like to eat at the same places as old people. Go figure. Everyone appeared to be getting the roast beef sandwich. They were slicing up the beef in front of everyone and applying the au jus in plain view. I would be stupid not to get one. It was tasty and fresh tasting. The fixin bar is what puts Roy Rogers over the top. What makes this Roy's special is the service. The cashier was super friendly and with a lot of senior citizens, they get a lot of complaints and they handle them well. Today, I saw an older woman take back a side of baked beans stating that someone had sneezed in the vicinity of them. The manager replaced them without a second thought. I've seen a lot of senior complaints in my day (unrelated to this Roy Rogers) such as "this hamburger is too meaty" and "this gasoline smells too much like gasoline". I'm sure that this Roy Rogers sees its fair share, but they seemed to handle it well. Kudos to them. read more

Roy Rogers used to be a very prominent fast food chain in the DC Metro area. I remember going there as a very young kid and singing cowboy songs while I ate fried chicken. I also remember getting Roy's sandwiches and dressing them up to the maximum at their "Fixin's Bar" in high school and college too. It's these fond memories that bring me to try Roy's today. I think the food is great...maybe not quite as good as I remember but compared to some of the other fast food alternatives, it's up there in my opinion. Everything just tastes more "real" than the arches or crown. I recommend the chicken (if it's fresh), the burgers, and chicken sandwiches. The service here is so-so. Like I said make sure things are made fresh or else, the food won't be right. I just wish there were more Roys in my home base area now. read more

Having never seen nor heard of as Roy Rogers I thought it was more Denny's initially but it turned out to be more like a tacky Arby's. The cashier was rather curt, but whatever I wasn't there to be wined and dined anyway. The problem here is that there was a hair in my mom's breakfast platter. I threw salt all over the eggs, and brought it back. I waited at the counter for a new one. The person who brought it to the back approached the lady in charge of assembling it, who was conveniently 3/4 hidden by a divider. Moments later I received a "new" hair-free platter. BUT ALAS, it was NOT. It was the same f-ing platter with no hair and a new biscuit! How did I know? All the salt I threw on the eggs was still there. I told the employee it was the same platter, who insisted that it was a new one. I told her the salt I put all over the eggs was still there. Too annoyed to argue, I just ordered my mom something else and stood there watching while they made it. Never again, Roy Rogers! read more

This Roy Rogers is okay, although I'm not sure why they give me a pissed off look whenever I pass them that 2 for $5 dollar 1/4 cheeseburger coupon. Don't be mad at me...be mad at your corporate office who keeps mailing the coupons to my house. Money is not coming out of your pockets each time a coupon is brought in, so just process my order and get on with it. But I actually decided to do this review because of that new fish sandwich. Don't bother ordering it because It's absolutely disgusting. It's not actually a fish patty, but it's 2 pieces of fish put between the bun. The fish could have had a little more crisp to it and it didn't have any seasoning and taste to it. The meat and the outer batter tasted very bland. Not even the tartar sauce couldn't add a little taste to the sandwich. A waste of $4.89 if you ask me. Just stick to the burgers and the fried chicken. I'll be sure to add that the customer service during the mid-day is pretty good and that this location is clean. read more
