This diner was cute with their 50's - 60's décor and feel. If you like pictures of Elvis and the like, this is a place for you. They are attached to the Quality Inn and serve up the breakfasts for the hotel. I ate from the limited "hotel menu" which had 5 or 6 choices. 4.0 Stars Location Overview: Roxie's Diner is on S Bryant and S Jackson next to Club Amnesia. This is a very small location. Roxie's has that old school diner feel. The capacity unfortunately is not fit for large families. Wait time is another down fall on this place. There is no actual waiting are, because this establishment is very small you are standing at the front door waiting to be seated. The décor in the restaurant is very nice, there are old posters and comics posted everywhere. There is a small breakfast bar to sit at if you are a couple or loner coming to eat. Customer Service: The staff are absolutely amazing. Hands down the best homey feeling you can imagine. The ladies serving us are very pleasant, do not rush you to order and make great suggestions if you do not know what to get or have never tried their food before. I do have to make a side not that one cook has been spotted numerous times for eating while cooking, to me personally it is a little unprofessional. However, the staff are great. Quantity/Quality: The quantity of the food is about your average portion that you would get from any brunch restaurant. Compared to IHOP, the quality of Roxie's pancake/waffles are very fluffy, not premade and very sweet. The biscuits and sausage gravy is also good - fluffy soft huge biscuits and warm breakfast sausage gravy that is thick (non-runny). I will put the quality of the food at a 5.0 Stars. I ate breakfast here with some coworkers this morning and it was very good! One of those hidden gem diners with reasonable priced meals. Two eggs sausage, has browns english muffin 7.50 . Just OK. French toast tasted better than it looked. Asked if the sausage gravy for biscuits and gravy was homemade or canned and was told it was made with a powdered mix, so did not order that! Very cold inside. It is Feb. but I would expect the place to be heated on cold days. When checking out, the cashier asked my daughter if she wanted to add a tip and she said 15, meaning 15%. Hmmm... torn between 2-3 stars The breakfast selection in San Angelo is unfortunately limited, I may adjust the rating to stars depending on further experiences in the area. Roxie's is a standard 50's styled diner, and I like the vibrant color and design. However, the food is lacking in quality (and yes I know it's supposed to be a diner styled breakfast place). I usually judge breakfasts on IF I could make it better at home, and in this case, I could. I went with 5 friends, and we had a very diverse selection from the menu (French toast, Migas, Huevos Rancheros, a waffle and an omlette). Nothing really jumped out as amazing from what we ordered, but it was good enough The things I really disliked was the San Angelo water tasting coffee. Blech. Stayed at the motel behind the restaurant there were 7 of us and with the motel you get a complimentary breakfast. It's a basic breakfast but we all ordered a plate off of the complimentary menu and ordered extra sides. Like pancakes or biscuits and gravy etc. It was the best meal I've ever had staying at a motel or even a hotel! It cost 20$ for all of us to have a big breakfast. And the food was damn good. My only complaint is the place is so small. But it does have a cute retro vibe. We were all impressed. If I didn't live 4 hours away I'd definitely eat breakfast there again. read more

Love when in a new town getting to give too try new restaurants. Be it breakfast lunch or dinner. This place was on point for breakfast. Everything was hot and fresh. If I'm going to complain about anything it's just the size of the diner. But that's what I love. Getting to hear locals come in. Old timers sitting at the counter telling stories. I love Roxies. They have what I consider the best burger in town. The burgers are fresh made by hand, not a frozen pre-shaped something or other slapped on a flat top. They also have homemade pies. I haven't been for breakfast yet, but I will soon. The best thing for me is that they're not very far from my apartment. The thing you need to know is they're only open to 2 pm. Lots of times I'm tootling around town and don't get a chance to get in by then. Lately I'm making an effort to. I always sit at the counter. The "girls" are wonderful. We went to Roxie's twice both for breakfast! We went once and had the "Motel breakfast " and then went back the next day and had the regular menu breakfast! Our motel breakfast was not bad! We got the two eggs, bacon and toast plus coffee and Oj ... yes you had to pay extra for the OJ but it was worth it! The second day we got the Frenchie... it was a two eggs, bacon and sausage and either grits, home fries, or hash browns plus two slices of French toast! It was good but to be honest I would've preferred my free breakfast! Now I know people complain because they treat you differently if you're hotel guests well it was not true for us! Our waitress, Nicki was so sweet and kind and was our waitress both times! Just loved the atmosphere of the diner feeling and all the Coke and Elvis items!! We wanted to go back for lunch but we're too full so that didn't happen! But if you're ever in San Angelo stop by and enjoy it! It's a really cool place to eat!! it's your typical diner food. kitschy decorations of Marilyn monroe, Elvis, I love Lucy etc. food was good, but not fantastic. it didn't make a huge impression on me. It takes a long time to get your order. If you are in a hurry, go grab fast food somewhere else. everyone is very friendly. my husband ordered a cheeseburger and I got the migas. the burger was good no complaints from my husband it is a good size serving. The migas cane with refried beans and a very bland tortilla. it was fine. The one big issue I had was in the ladies bathroom.... apparently you cannot put toilet paper in the toilet. I encountered this in Mexico. they have a sign that asks you not to flush your used paper. the sign says they have old pipes. so all that used paper is in a trash can. that is beyond gross...it's a hygiene issue. this place should think about just getting an update on their pipes. Wish I could review the food here but we just didn't get the opportunity. Family of four, we walked in and stood just inside the door. I am 6'6" 250. Kind of hard to miss, especially in such a small restaurant. We stood there 5 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. Not a "be with you in just a moment", not a head nod, or even a glance. After several minutes of invisibility we decided to walk out. We had the steak & egg special & the chicken fried steak and eggs both were served with hash browns and a homemade biscuit. The steak was cooked correctly but had that 'meat' taste if you know what I mean. Nothing special about it. CFS was ok. Coffee was fresh and they kept it coming. Personally I have been in there a couple of times and the food is not even close to the hype. And now I will never go back in there again. Someone close to me went in and got treated with the up most disrespect by the owner, Roxie. They were dinning alone and there was 1 table open, a 4 top, and the owner and wait staff refused to let them sit down bc they were a party of 1. However there was a couple sitting at a 4 top, only one more person then the customer of 1, which I am guessing that they were known there and probably "big tippers". This customer had to stand there while no one was occupying the only empty table, and for what reason? It was like this customer was being judged and discriminated against because they were alone and wasn't a regular. Y'all there is way better breakfast food in this town. Roxie's Dinner is only popular because of the same ol people that have been going there for years and years, not because of the food, and you only get good service if they know you. read more

This place was a much better find than I would have believed from previous reviews. I had the Grilled Chicken sandwich which was good, but just a bit over mayo'd. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the accompanying onion rings were really tasty. The restaurant is best in the pie department, we split a coconut Creme pie that made me think of diner in the 60's & 70's. Well done. I tasted the burger also which was very good. The interior is vividly painted, and completely unlike the exterior. Lot's of 50's decor almost over the top, but stopped just short. Service was friendly, and maybe even family powered. Not bad. When I first walked in to the concrete floor, metal tables, cliche 50's crap on the walls, seedy old west-texas people, I was a little put off. I was like, I should never have come here. But it was 9:30 am on a Wednesday. The waitress immediately greeted me, and gave me a menu. Now this place is by no means gourmet, but I ordered the staple sausage and eggs plate, eggs over medium, chose a biscuit for my side item, and ordered a side of biscuit gravy to cover it. With in I sh!t you not, 90 seconds, BAM! Hash-browns and all. I love hash browns. The down side was the whole time there was a tv blaring the 700 club, and their only hot sauce was Tabasco - I am big on hot sauces. However they did have a homemade salsa that did the trick.
