After a few weeks of healing, I'm writing this review of Rowan's ear piercing service. We took our six-month-old daughter there in late January for her first ear piercing. The staff was incredibly accommodating and patient, which made the experience much smoother than we had anticipated. The location is conveniently situated in Cherry Creek North, but be prepared for potential parking issues. However, our overall experience was fantastic from the moment we walked in. They have a nice selection of earrings for the piercing devices, and they don't recommend or perform needle piercings for babies. The pricing was competitive, and the staff, including the nurse, was very patient and kind. The aftercare instructions were easy to follow, and we're keeping our daughter's ears clean, and they're healing wonderfully. One thing to note for parents considering getting their baby's ears pierced is that there's some aftercare involved to ensure proper healing. Very clean place, but the prices are ridiculous. Got my daughter ears pierced and the earrings kept coming out due to back being so cheap. I came back for more backs they did the same thing. Then i took my baby back in to get one earring they wanted me to pay for two and to redo her ear piercing. Which is ridiculous because i spent $300 already . read more

Had my child's ear pierced. Ordered a machine piercing with a gold earring. Was told I had to buy 2 earrings even though we are only getting 1 piercing. This was not the case when we had his first piercing from them where they sold us just 1 earring. So we purchased 2. The piercing was done and the nurse was lovely. When we paid, we were charged for a hand piercing which was not what we ordered, however it's what the nurse did. The sales person/cashier, who was very soft-spoken and hard to understand, asked if we wanted aftercare spray. I said ok and added a bottle to the bag. After paying much more than I expected to pay from all these extra charges, I got home and saw there were 2 bottles of spray in my bag. So I think she already put a bottle in my bag before asking if I wanted it? Our time in there saw waves of customers coming and going out so it was busy overall. I recommend the sales employees be better trained, pricing be clearly marked so there's less confusion, and the process be better streamlined so there are less chances for error. My daughter was 6 when we first got her ears done with a needle at a local place near home in Littleton, he did a fantastic job other then they were NOT even. Needless say it was a year later almost before we tried again. We removed the one earring in preparation and hoped the hole would close 100% but my kiddos had a little mark from it. I refused to same place so I came to Rowan. They fixed the issue and placement and the staff was a nice. A couple things I wash they did, ask the kid to take a deep breath and on 3 let it go and then push the needle in. In addition, you only want the needle to avoid infection regardless your age. I can already tell this earring quality better than the original place we went and it blows my mind since it was a legit shop I went to. With Rowan we have had 0 irritations from the jewelry. I don't recommend the spray they offer for $20 it has drying ingredients in it. All you need is a saline and your kid will be better off. It helps it heal and keeps it so clean. They'll try convince you the spray is the best thing in the world but there is no reason to spray an it but on your kids ear other then salt and distilled water which makes a saline just make sure you use the right kind salt and right ratio. Overall I'm happy with Rowan just wish they prep my kid a little better. Oh and if your kids scared ask for a stuffy friend they're great cause they have little earrings in them as well. read more

The staff is really the highlight of Rowan! The staff is so welcoming and makes you feel so comfortable throughout the ear piercing process. The store is super clean and they have so many earring options. I took my daughter to get her ears pierced and they calmed her nerves and so sweet and kind to her! We went to Rowan to get my daughter's ear pierced. After choosing her jewelry, the gentleman working opened a package of the one she wanted to make a display. Them, after waiting another 20 min, he told us that they only had one earring of that kind (not even mentioning it's bc he opened the other one they had). He said they couldn't use the one he opened. We were for ed(bc my daughter had fallen in love with the earrings), to buy that earring and drive all the way to park meadows to have them complete the piercing with the one they had available. After getting to park meadows, we found out the one they had available wax their display which all of a sudden Could be sterilized and used. This was a HUGE waste of time. Above all that, I think the nurse was not well versed in placing the piercing and put them too high up on my daughter's lobes which will make small hoops difficult. Lastly, note the prices are PER earring! I wanted a high quality piercing and quality jewelry. The price is very steep and with all the hassle, it wasn't worth it now seeing the earring placement. Aesthetically and cleanliness is definitely a 5 star. The store is kept very organized, sanitized and overall very welcoming. I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews about up-charge. I've called around and in general, piercings (both ears) are typically between $50-70 dollars including the jewelry. Here, they seem to charge for piercing, jewelry and the saline solution (I'm not sure why this isn't already included ... it should!) But anyway, moving on to the piercing portion. I opted to do upper helix (cartilage) to my right ear. I opted for needle piercing as it was what was suggested by one of the piercers. At the time, it didn't feel too painful but unfortunately I had a little hair stuck in it in which we had to move around the earring to get it out (took an extra 5-10 mins). She was very gentle and explained everything which I very much appreciated. Somehow my total came out to $110 and that didn't include tip. I know they advertise has having nurses do the pierces but to be honest, I did not see any nursing credentials or any mention of it. Nonetheless, the overall experience was good. I live out of state so unfortunately I probably won't be back to do any future piercings there. read more

Went to get my 8 month olds ears pierced was very happy with the cleanliness of the whole place and how nice and friendly the worker was! She walked us through the process and how to clean and take care of them after! My 8 month old only cried for about 30 seconds after she seen the balloons and new things she was content she had had them for about a week and they don't see to be bothering her at all, the cleaner also is so easy just quick couple sprays throughout the day and a rotation of the earring! read more

This was a great experience for my then-5-month old's piercing. The nurses kindly each did either lobe at the same time. My babe cried a little and then simmered down. The whole thing took seconds. The after-care solution worked well and her ears have healed beautifully. Now as a 13-month old she crawls and tugs at her ear when she's teething, and the earrings don't budge. I love this place. There are so many different earring of quality to choose from compared to... ?!?!. It is impossible to find studs that are made of inert metals that won't cause your ear to turn black! It has also become impossible to find a simple flat back or to replace what I have lost from my many piercings. I read a review that complained about the pricing. All you have to do is ASK! You're wrong to say that this store is only for the monied. This store is for the many. If you're concerned about the price. All you need to do, as anyone should always do, is ASK! There are earrings that fit all budgets. This is not a tattoo parlor that does piercings. I've had too many bad experiences at tattoo parlours. Often, the piercings are a second thought. If you're looking for a parlour that pierces ears, do your research before you go. This is your body, and the place need to be clean and focused solely on the ear. As Rowan is. How much better is a nurse in a clean shop, with all her attention on the piercing. As I said, I've so many terrible experiences with tattoo parlours that do earring 'on the side'. The piercings became infected, were wildly out of place, I've had no instructions for after care or improper instruction, like using soap when you need PURE saline! Impossible to find?Rowan has it! Unfortunately, the nurses are not yet trained to pierce many parts of the cartilage (hopefully this will change, soon)! This is the only reason left that sends me to tattoo parlours. The nurses here are kind, professional and empathetic and will help you find a range of something you can afford and will tell you up front whether they can pierce where you like, give you an alternative and if you don't like it you can walk and they will still be kind. I've never felt unwelcome. Yes, Rowan is a higher end store; but, it's worth the money. As a woman of a certain age with 15+ piercings, retired early and able to afford what I want, I know that you get what you pay for. As I said earlier, I need studs that are high quality and inert. Gold, Silver, etc. Sophisticated, cute, fun, serious, studs that fit all my needs. It has also become especially hard to find a store that is clean, well stocked and focused on the customer, pleased that you've come in and unlike other places where you visit time and time again, they don't act like you're an annoyance to their day. In Rowan, they know their stock and provide piercings professionally and knowledgeably. A few weekends ago, I made a same day appointment for a piercing they couldn't do. The nurse suggested a helix on both ears, placed to match the curve of the ear. They are two rounded bars of diamond chips set in 14K gold. I knew it would be expensive, duh; but, again, if uncertain...ASK! Each time I have had a piercing at Rowan, it has neither come out nor become infected. I spent over 1K that day and love my piercings. The nurse took her time with placing a dot on each side and marked the curve for me, on my request, so that I knew what it would look like! I ASKED! They match beautifully, no swelling, no pain, etc! I also purchased their simple saline solution, which is also near impossible to find. A month before I spent $500 on a group of studs. Take your time and if you don't know what you want, say thank you, leave and have a think! If you aren't willing to spend a proper amount on what is basically a medical procedure than when your ear swells and the earring must come out, you haven't properly done your research or taken care of your body. If the 'dot' is in the wrong place don't be afraid to say so. The nurses will take their time to make sure you are pleased with what you have when you walk out the door. After many grungy tattoo parlours, I'm very much looking forward to when Rowan nurses finally can pierce other parts of the cartiledge. Then and only then will I go back to replace 8 snugs...EIGHT... that became infected and were sold to me as surgical steel, they weren't. All rejected and a waste of money. My fault, alone. You get what you pay for. You want your daughter to have a great experience, have cute little piercings when she's 12? THIS is the place. She'll look sweet. Then there's me (a little girl from the 80s) who instead of ink is addicted to piercings and instead of two delicate first piercings, I'm looking for room to add more to those I have; but, because I'm older, now I'm supposed to be sophisticated and grow old gracefully. Ok; but, I'll never get rid of my piercings... so Rowan thank you for your beautiful studs and funky threaders, your climbers, birthstones. Well made and worth the price. I am reluctant to post a negative review, I almost never do. I appreciate people who are in business and know that no one intends to provide a negative experience so if it's bad, I generally just tell myself I won't go back but keep it to myself. But as time has gone on and I've had conversations with other people who do piercing I decided to break my own rules. I originally had my ears pierced 50 or so years ago. My best friend did it at my kitchen table with an ice cube to deaden my ear, a needle with thread that she pulled through the hole and a potato to poke the needle in to. She had never pierced ears before, and she hasn't done any since. Crazy, but it did last for at least 50 years and I have never had an issue. In the last few months the hole in my left ear has started to stretch. I figured it was just part of aging but as it continued to get worse I was afraid it would stretch so much that I wouldn't be able to wear earrings or that they would fall out. I talked to several people and everyone told me that you have to go to a special piercing place which seemed a little silly but what do I know, I'm old. After talking to someone at their location, on October 15 I went to Rowan to get a new hole in that ear. The person who did it was very nice - the place is clean and people are friendly. It went as smoothly as my experience a lifetime ago - it cost quite a bit more though. I wasn't thrilled with their selection of earrings and I had to buy a pair that I don't love. After all, I have 50 years worth of earrings at home and didn't need to buy a pair that I didn't even like. She told me not to remove or replace the earrings for six weeks. Six weeks was the Monday before Thanksgiving but I decided to wait until Thanksgiving because I wanted to use my own earrings which are not cheap so I used nice earrings. The problem was that once I took the new piercing out, I couldn't get another one in. My granddaughter tried to help me but we could not get it to go in. After a lot of poking and pushing we gave up. The following Monday I called Rowan and the woman who answered the phone told me that the hole may have closed but if I came down they have a tool of some kind that they may be able to use to open it up. On Tuesday I did that. The woman in the store was not helpful, although after some of the things she said, it may have been the same woman. She told me that after this much time the hole had almost certainly closed up. She finally agreed to look at it and said that was the case - the hole was closed and she did not think there was any chance the tool would work to reopen it. I asked her what I did wrong, I tried to put a new earring in immediately after taking out the one they put in and she said that you don't have much time. I said, "three minutes?" and she said maybe not that quickly but definitely not an hour. I tried immediately and it would not go in. I asked her what I should have done and she said I should have come to the store, but we did note that they were not open on Thanksgiving so even if I had wanted to drive 45 minutes to let them try to get the earring in they would not have been open. I asked if they could redo it and she said they could - but it would be a new piercing, subject to new pricing. Wow! Customer service anyone? Since I have decided to live the rest of my life with a droopy ear hole, I have spoken to several other people who do piercings - without exception they have said that, considering my age and the fact that one of my piercings was already stretching out, indicating the thinness of the skin on my earlobes they would recommend keeping the earrings in for a minimum of six months! If that is the case, I wish I would have been given the correct information at the time and I would still be wearing the expensive but boring earrings I paid for, waiting for another three months to change them out and use my 50 year's worth of earrings I actually like. If you are looking to have your ears pierced, my advice is to find a friend and buy her dinner and a nice bottle of wine or a beer. read more

Super disappointed. We drove 40 minutes to get my daughters ears pierced. The website and door to the store say walk-ins welcome and although there was one person in the whole store, the man working told us to come back on a weekend. My other daughter got her ears pierced at a Rowan in Birmingham, AL and the store was packed and they still got my daughter in as a walk-in. I don't know if this store is very understaffed because I'm not sure how they couldn't accept a walk the store was empty. Make sure you make an appointment as the walk ins welcome sign is a little misleading. read more

I was in for a piercing on Saturday and while the piercing is still settling i can tell that the placement is off from what was requested. Unfortunately it was hard to see in the studio. The placement also seems very close to the edge. I will continue to let it settle but am afraid that after spending $90 i will have to take it out and it will have been a waste. Additional i was told to not rotate the piercing at all and in The follow up email it states the piercing should be rotated during cleaning. Could you please clarify Unfortunately, i chose this place because it seemed that the employees were more experienced and specialized and was willing to pay a higher cost for that but i feel that aside from the feel of the studio, the service would have been the same as a jewelry store in the mall. read more

I didn't get a chance to catch her name (she has black curly hair and pink and orange hokas) but she has excellent customer service and was super friendly and informative. I had a super irritated piercing and she looked at it, cleaned it, and replaced the post so the swelling could go down. The other employees she was working with were also super friendly and helpful! Definitely go to Rowan for your piercings and I live 80 miles away so I mean it. They care about your aftercare as well and not just the initial piercing. Biggest scam! Save your money and just go to your local piercing place or mall outlet. You will be in for hundreds of dollars when you could have spent way less. It is nothing special! They put the posts in oversized (?) and tell you to "swing by" after the healing process and they will clip them down. Well, they charge you ANOTHER $25 per post to clip them. Clearly another scam for more $$. Have had other piercings and never had this process before. You are paying for their scare tactics. A certified nurse...give me a break! It's not even about the money for me, but the principle of raping you across the coals for their less than average experience. By the way, you can get your ears pierced for $25 at Clair's and can clip your own studs down with a $5.00 tool! Leaving the posts so big was completely unnecessary and a scam to get more $$. I'm a big fan of their infinite hoops, paired with charms. While I haven't gotten anything pierced there, I walked in during a child's piercing and the employee was very kind to the child. At first I was very excited because I had heard some good things about the studio, but after going I would not go again. The angle of my piercing was very off, the quality of the earrings provided does not help with the healing process, and some of the staff was rude. Unfortunately I had to remove my piercing in order for my ear to heal. The solution provided actually seemed to irritate my piercing more and honestly is not worth the price. read more

This place gets a 5* rating for cleanliness, but 3* for pricing. Seriously everything is an upcharge. The earrings you have to buy for the piercing are ridiculously expensive, and they're really just MEH looking $70 PER earring NOT included in the cost of the actual piercing!! And then on top of that they charge for the aftercare cleaning solution that's kinda mandatory to make sure the ear heals well. Honestly for the pricing it should include that. And then afterwards it's "what about our tip?" which I just feel like should be included since we paid you $35 per ear for basically a 15 minute appointment. $270 for the cheapest pair of earrings they had including a tip which was way more than we wanted to spend or should have had to. My daughter just wanted a simple ear piercing and your "nurse" didn't know how to release the gun (I guess it was her first day and first client ever) and got it stuck in her ear. She didn't start crying until that happened. Thank you for the way over priced and traumatizing experience. I do not recommend this place. It's no different from Claire's at the mall. My daughter and I went in to get 2 piercings each. One of our piercings was not done in the exact location as the dot that we placed. Big mistake. When they say that the people who work there are nurses, that's not true. We were also sold their special healing spray for $20/bottle because they said that it would increase the healing time to 2-3 weeks from the usual 4-6 weeks. We're on week 8 and not fully healed.
