I recently took my son to this location to get his ears pierced, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. Martine was extremely rude and uninviting from the moment we arrived. Her tone was harsh and came across as very unfriendly, which made what should have been a positive experience for my son feel uncomfortable. When you're bringing a loved one in for something like an ear piercing, you expect the staff to be welcoming, patient, and reassuring. Instead, the interaction felt rushed and unpleasant. Customer service makes a huge difference, especially in situations involving kids, and this experience definitely fell short. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reminds staff how important it is to treat customers with kindness and professionalism. Because of this interaction, I chose to only deal with Ell, who was very pleasant and welcoming. My daughter is 10 and got her first piercing (tear). Ayanna was amazing! She was so nice, made sure that my daughter was comfortable and informed. This studio is clean, staff is nice, but there are some major cons making this an unreliable piercing shop. The services are wildly expensive; I wound up paying around $300 for jewelry that immediately tarnished day of and piercings that were so painful and irritating that I had to take them out the day after I got them done. They charge per earring, which start at about $50, so there's no way you're paying less than $100 for jewelry. Which I would understand, if the jewelry was high quality and tarnish-free, but the jewelry rusted and turned my ear black within hours. The staff is very nice, but please consider going to a real piercing shop with real professionals to avoid the pain I went through after this experience. read more

I had some old previous lobe piercings that were in a horrible location so I was concerned about merging. She chose a new location that looked better and my new piercings look so cute. I had a great experience with my piercer Maddy. Most importantly she set expectations of how the piercing I wanted may look different on my body's anatomy and what could be different from the inspo picture. I thought that was super great and important because when I didn't know much about piercings and didn't know that could happen, I had some bad piercers pierce me and have to later remove that jewelry because my body wasn't meant for that kind of jewelry. So she was awesome for first timers who don't know what they don't know and in general. The only thing I've found crazy is that they will not spray down your ear with the cleaning spray until you buy one from them. It feels slimy to me to offer a service that will leave the person who got it feeling a lot of heat and pressure and then refusing the even give one pump of a cooling disinfectant spray to help with that. Very odd model for anyone in medicine to not treat a symptom. Ofc they are incentivized to sell their own marked up cleaner, which I did end up buying because I felt like I needed it since my ear was overheating after that piercing, but to do it that way just feels gross and a little unethical. Not blaming Maddy, but this policy is at fault. Don't cause trauma to a person and charge a big markup for it on the premise that you're nurses and will treat you better, and then deprive patients of immediate pain relief you know they need from the service you performed unless they buy it first. Complete waste of my time. Going to cancel the appointment that I had to reschedule because they have no credibility at this point. I was excited to visit this place based on the great reviews, but the experience was a disaster. I booked an appointment to get my daughters' ears pierced with a needle, took an hour-long train ride, only to be told that the person who does needle piercings wasn't there--despite receiving a confirmation. Frustrated but willing to try again, we accepted a rescheduled appointment for Thursday. On Thursday, after another long trip, we arrived only to be told that our appointment was never actually rescheduled. No effort was made to fix their mistake--just empty explanations. I wanted to get three new piercings and found Rowan online. I came in to the shop to learn more and have a consultation before an actual appointment. The guy working was helpful and informative on the process so I booked an appointment. When I arrived the next day the nurse was knowledgeable and clear with the process. She made sure I was happy with the placement of the piercing dots (pre procedure) and gave helpful tips on how to stay calm during it. Aftercare instructions were clear and I felt confident I would be able to take care of my piercings and reach out with any concerns via IG where their nurses respond. I wish the piercing process had some discount if you were buying more than one piece of jewelry or a rewards program because they're pretty pricey. The place is impressive -- it definitely has a fun and youthful vibe to it and makes the ear piercing experience feel special. Unfortunately, our nurse, Stephen, was a bit prickly and not very accommodating. We had booked back to back appointments with a friend and were waiting for them to arrive. Even though we still had time before the first appointment, Steven was inpatient and trying to rush us along. It definitely put a damper on our mood. I also did not appreciate when he was giving his introductory speech, he said, "Whoever is in the seat is in charge" (regarding the position of the earrings). Um, I am not going to let my 10 year decide that by themself. He definitely seemed irritated when my friend and I voiced our opinions regarding the marks he had made on our kids' ears. You should also know that Rowan adds on $20 for the ear cleaning spray w/o disclosing the cost beforehand (you can find similar hydrochlorous sprays for 1/2 the price) and also asks for a tip for the nurse, which is ridiculous. These upcharges are annoying given that we are already paying $100+. Total cost came to about $145. read more

The receptionist was very helpful in helping me pick out jewelry while the nurse got ready for the piercing. I picked out a beautiful jewel for my exhausting Tragus piercing. And decided to get my conch pierced Shout out to Maddie who was my piercer, she was excellent. She was super nice and calming. My conch piercing was quick effortless and didn't hurt much at all. She also changed my tragus piercing for me small charge. I will say the professional and detail of this place was nothing I ever seen before. Had a great experience here! Stumbled upon this place when walking past then kept seeing it on insta. I got my 3rd and 2nd done and it was so easy, barely hurt. I have done both the needle and the device before, did the device here this time. Marie-Rachel was our piercer, she was fabulous! Took no time to pierce and she was so accommodating. They also walked us through the whole cleaning process which was great. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because my appointment was booked for 4:15 and I didn't get in the chair until around 4:50. read more

I had such a lovely time getting my piercings done! The place was very clean and they were very thorough in their sanitation practices. The nurse was very gentle, and very calm which made me feel really calm. She walked me through the piercing (I was extremely nervous) and it was just very calming and easy, the aftercare instructions were put very simple and straight forward. We came to the Boerum Hill Brooklyn studio this past Black Friday 11/24 to get my almost 7 year old daughter's ears pierced. The male nurse Steven did his best to calm her nerves and he made sure I was happy with the black markings prior to the procedure. She got her right ear pierced first and cried from the pain, which is common amongst little ones. After the nurse pierced the 2nd left ear, I questioned why the piercing looked a little different than the right ear. It looked like the earring was sticking out. Instead of owning up to the mistake, he claimed that it was due to the positioning of the stud on that ear. When we came home, I realized that he completely missed the black marking that he drew on the left ear. Had the piercing been done accurately, the black marking would not be visible at all as it would be replaced by the pierced hole. These are small markings. The stud was pushed forward to create an illusion to cover the black marking and the black marking was also smudged to lessen the visibility of the dot. The left ear piercing is lower and off to the side of the ear. Ultimately, uneven ear piercings and what piercers call Crooked Entry. I have been upset for days wondering if I should help my daughter get a correction piercing, but that would mean waiting for the hole to completely close up first and then having her go through the same painful trauma again. As Rowan advertises that they help any age even infants get their ears pierced, the nurses here need more training. As a mother, I would not recommend anyone bringing their young children to get their ears pierced here. I should have seen the only 4 reviews at 3.3 stars on yelp as a screaming warning. read more

The "nap earrings" don't sit well and wish I didn't pay this much for one that seems to have too long of a post. They charged me extra to just put the earring in after I paid for the earring and it still doesn't sit right. I regret the purchase. A bit disappointed. I brought my daughter in to get her ears pierced a few weeks ago. There were 3 people working there, a person managing the desk, a nurse and another person piercing (who wasn't giving the same nurse vibes at the nurse in scrubs). The male piercer was a bit cold and abrupt but I over looked it as the nurse was leading the piercing for my daughter. We were able to get both ears pierced together, which was a win. Things were great and we noticed the next day the back had come off one of the earring. I'm still unsure how, but assume either changing her clothes it must have gotten snagged. The earring fell out a few hours later and the hole closed immediately. I brought her back in to try and have them do it, but it was too late. They advise I come back in a few weeks once it was healed and they would re-pierce her ear and waive the fee, though I would need to purchase new earring. Fast forward 2 weeks, we go back, re-pierce my daughters ear, by the same kind and patience nurse. The VERY NEXT DAY, an earring back came off. Luckily this time the earring didn't come out right away and I had an extra back so I replaced it. A few days later, that back came off and the earring came out and the hole closed again. My daughter is terrified of getting her ear pierced again so she's been rocking one earring, though it's disappointing to buy multiple pairs of earrings and having the backs pop off easily. read more
