Visited Rove twice in the last weeks. Menu is simple and has good offerings. Salads are fresh, tasty, and not overly dressed. My husband and I enjoyed the hummus platter. We really enjoyed this restaurant. The selection of food as well as wines and drinks were excellent. The quality of the food was one of the best I have had in the forest hills area. The place is clean, very welcoming and organized. Cozy and perfect for date nights. They have a small bar area with TVs which weren't too loud and allowed us to enjoy our conversation. The staff was very friendly, our waitress Meghan was the best! Very friendly, knowledgeable and made us right at home with pleasant conversation. The prices are very reasonable. They even have a take out menu which is awesome! It is a place I will continue to visit for dinner, happy hours I will definitely try and they have a pasta Thursday Meghan mentioned.... Folks, I was initially going to simply not review this place. My wife and just went for brunch the one time, and I was thinking 'maybe it's an off day' and I was going to leave it at that' but ah...No. Walk in, not bad, moderate noise but ya it's a bar/restaurant so this is perfectly normal, we're seated and given menus. We order out food, and I order a cup of tea. My tea come in a...Paper to go cup. Huh. this is a tad odd, but ok then, maybe they're out of mugs or something at 11:20 am? My food is...Ok. Nothing special. In hindsight, I realize that the whole 'all dishes come with toast', well maybe that doesn't count for what I got, because I didn't get toast either.... Ah well. This being said, my wife reports that her food was 'pretty good'. We've finished our food, and I'm considering getting a second cup of tea (The Horror!) and the waiter comes up to our table and proceeds to tell us... He needs our table. Saturday was my 7th or 8th time having Brunch at Rove, and it never disappoints. Matter-of-fact, it has become my go-to Brunch spot here in Forest Hills. Ended up getting to the restaurant about 15 minutes prior to when Brunch service begins. No problem, we were told. Take a seat and we will be right with you. Not that I'm suggesting you show up before the restaurant opens, but point being that the waitress and staff could really not have been any nicer. The food itself is always delicious. I had the omelette w/ pepperjack cheese, bacon and avocado. Was charged an extra $1 for egg whites, which I have no problem with. Person I ate with had the Eggs Benedict, and they cleaned their plate as well. If I have one criticism it is that we were charged an extra dollar for swapping out the home fries for french fries. I get the extra dollar for the egg whites. Not necessarily on-board with the dollar up-charge for the change in potatoes, but then again, not a deal breaker either. As much as I love Banter, I am not a fan of the long lines for weekend Brunch. I'm shocked that Rove is still pretty accessible, and admittedly, had to think twice about posting this review for just that reason. We like Brunch here and I always go for the Two Eggs Any Style with slab bacon, red potato hash and toast - for Pete's sake, ask for your hash well done or it'll arrive mushy. I won't eat mushy potatoes. Coffee comes in an insulated paper cup and I've never received a refill. The decor is cute and Rove attracts young families and groups, so it can be a little noisy. read more

Came here for refuel/lunch after moving at the end of April. I got the breakfast burger and swapped out the english muffin for brioche bun, with cajun fries on the side (they give you options for regular, cajun or salad iirc). The spicy mayo sauce was excellent and went perfectly with the cajun fries. We were there for quite a while, did 2-3 rounds of shots to celebrate my move, and the bartender was very nice to chit chat with us. The place is very chill. Had brunch on Sunday at 12. It's a small place and they don't take reservations. I enjoyed the vibe, they played music but it was low, which was great because the vibe was relaxed and chill. My girlfriend and I had mimosa, the guava mimosa was amazing. I had the salmon and eggs, it was delicious, but I came with an appetite I wasn't full, so I also ordered the chicken and waffles. I used to love this place. I introduced myself to the owner and greeted him often when I saw him around his eatery. I promoted his business to the community when I dined there for 3 years. I became friends with all of the employees. The other day when I came in he flipped on me saying I skipped on a bill. He screamed at me and embarrassed me in front of my friends and amongst all of his customers. I tried to get him to remedy the situation outside, but he continued to scream on the side. I'm still perplexed as to what I could have done. I re-paid the bill (I didn't even know anything about + a $20) right then and there and apologized, but he wanted nothing to do with me. He said I could never come back. I don't know what to do or how to handle it. I feel like an orphan. After all these years of business and relationship/community-building and bonding. I don't get it. Immediately upon walking in, both the waiter and the bartender made eye contact, and headed toward me to say hello. Pretty welcoming! I placed a to-go order at the bar, and while waiting, the bartender poured some water. Didn't take long to get my appetizers, about 10 minutes. Braised Beef Buns: a little heavy handed on the oyster sauce, because it made the whole thing very salty, but the beef was super tender, melt in your mouth! I came here for drinks early on a Thursday night. It was one of the few places we passed that wasn't crowded, which was fine by me because we were able to get seats at the bar easily. Personally I love empty bars, although it filled up pretty quickly after we got there. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. We were given water right away. My first round was a grapefruit martini which was expensive and weak. I switched to vodka tonics after that, which were stronger and better. The beer selection was nothing special. Ive heard nothing but good things about Rove so I was really excited to try brunch. I got classic eggs, bacon, and home fries. Eggs were delicious and obviously cooked in butter-yum! Potatoes were flavorful and the bacon was super thick cut. The reason why I didn't give 5 stars was because my husband ordered orange juice and there was brown spots on the ice-an indicator of an unclean dispensar? Also, while the music selection was great the bass was way too loud for a Sunday morning. And lastly, as soon as we got served a 4 top had come into the restaurant and couldn't be seated because there were only 2 tops remaining. The entire time after that I felt rushed by the wait staff. They kept coming over to take 1 glass at a time from our table, checking in as of to say "are you going to leave yet??". Had brunch at Rove on Sunday afternoon. Good food and accommodating staff make it a decent choice for weekend brunch. Quality: I went with the Steak & Two Eggs for my meal. The steak was a grilled rib-eye that while skinny was tender and cooked well. There was an excess of fat on one end, but it was still a solid piece of meat. I was not a big fan of the Fries that came with it. They were skinny fries and a bit overdone, so I would recommend going with the more flavorful hash browns instead. Quantity: A big plate of food that was more than enough for breakfast. Value: $17 for Steak & Two Eggs. Ambiance: Rove is located on Austin Street in Forest Hills, Queens. After checking out Jack & Nellie's and hearing the wait time, we were directed to Rove their sister restaurant. Just a block away, it is more casual and beer oriented. They have two sections, a dining room area on the left and a bar space on the right. The decor is all over the place with an Asian mix hanging from the ceiling including symbols, sculptures, and umbrellas. The music seemed a bit aggressive for brunch, but no one else seemed to notice. Crowd: It was Mother's Day, so I was glad to see no wait here. The restaurant was full, but never overly busy. Delicious food in a nice atmosphere- What a great vibe and the not-too-loud music (from my days- Depeche Mode) to listen to while eating a delicious meal pre-concert at Forest Hills Stadium on an early Friday evening. Jerk chicken thighs were perfectly spicy and fried (not overly greasy). Good size appetizer. Salmon entree was done just right (on the medium side) and light. The place got more crowded as the evening neared. Looked like a fun place to go late nights for cocktails and nibbles if not for dinner. I've been to practically every brunch spot in forest hills and this place was on my list of new places to check out . I enlisted my friend to come with me this time and we got there before brunch actually started . They were nice enough to sit us and it was empty at first . The server was super sweet and very accommodating . The options for brunch was pretty standard and the food was actually good . The only thing missing in my opinion was the drink. Most brunch places have a drink included with the meal . Overall cute spot I like the vibe inside . I may be tempted to try it at other times besides brunch . Thought I'd stop by for some brunch to try out the new place. The atmosphere looked pleasant, and relaxed. Wait staff was nice. First sign of trouble: who gives coffee in a paper cup in restaurant? I ordered some steak and eggs. Another sign: nothing was seasoned. Fried were bland, eggs were bland , and so was the steak. Found this gem while walking around aimlessly on Austin st. Great new restaurant! Walked in on pasta night and had the corn chowder soup and pasta bolognese. Soup was great, they used the right veggies and seasoning. The pasta was awesome, downside no grated cheese but minor detail. The bar and restaurant are really clean and the layout is great! When they finally brought the steak it was very over-cooked. So they took it and I waited again. Visited a friend in Forest Hills and hit up Rove for brunch. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly and accommodating. I had the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly with a nice soft yolk on top of Canadian bacon and English muffins, the hash brown potatoes were nicely seasoned with some baby arugula on the side. The dish came together nicely. My friend had the chicken and waffles but for some reason they couldn't make waffles, instead they made pancakes. The pancakes were fine also. The chicken were not the size of tenders but more like nuggets. The chicken was crispy, not oily or overly salted, just right. One thing that they should do is serve the coffee in mugs instead of the paper take out cups that we had to stave off waste and be better for the ecology. They also have a bar up front for a cocktail or two. I will come back when I'm around this hood to try other dishes and some drinks. read more
