Not a fan of places where you seriously wonder 'should I ask if he forgot to add alcohol to my beverage?' Our first round of drinks was so watered down that I felt genuinely upset that I had to pay. Did wine for next round and that was fine can't really mess that up. Avoid the drinks at all cost. Ambiance was fine. Service was fine. Bar down the block was super crowded and this one was relatively empty so I watched the game here. Didn't have any food but will never in my life order a drink here again. read more

Came for brunch with friends and overall the food was good. They had some good vegetarian options and were happy to swap out bacon for spinach. Would have given a much better review if not for two significant things: 1. The service was poor. Overall friendly, but not attentive. I asked for water multiple times only to be ignored or forgotten and finally got up and got the pitcher myself and refilled my water glass. 2. Only did I see when looking at the check that when the waiter was so happy to sub spinach for bacon, he didn't actually substitute it. Instead it was added as an extra. Not only is it unacceptable to do that (if you're taking out bacon and giving spinach instead I shouldn't pay more), but it's especially unacceptable not to say in advance that it will be an additional charge. This restaurant has a lot to learn about customer service. read more

This place is so cute. I love the decor and the music. My friend took me here for my birthday to have brunch. I loved the atmosphere and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was great! We had home fries, eggs, sausage and toast. The fuzzy slipper was an amazing drink. I can't wait to go back. It's definitely a favorite. read more

Amazing Brunch spot in Forest Hills! Brought the whole family for Sunday brunch. The staff was great, courteous and attentive... And they were very nice about me having to walk my 2 year old around the restaurant a few times. Between the six of us we ordered a variety of meals on the menu and all were delicious. I personally love the red potato hash! It was a nice touch to have the coffee and tea served in "to-go" cups.. My dad was happy not to have to leave his unfinished coffee behind. read more

Austin street is normally my go to spot for a good time but I felt like I've been to every bar here a million times. Happened to find this new spot Rove while walking around the area and I gotta say, it's pretty dope! Pretty chill vibes and the beer list blew me away! All local/craft beers and a decent amount of artisanal spirits. I was pretty impressed. To top it off, I came in on a Wednesday and that happened to be rib night. Sealed the deal for me. Definitely recommend this for a night out with friends or for a cool date spot. Friendly staff ! Will definitely be back! read more

Rove - American Near Me - Forest Hills, New York

One of the best restaurants on Austin Street. I came here on a random summer day with my mother and we have been back at least 6 times since then. My mother is pretty picky and particular about food and drinks; so when we discovered this gem I knew we hit a gold mine. From the decor, to the lovely staff, to the amazing chefs & cocktails, I give it all 5 stars. Mariah, waitress, has been a gem every time we have come and she also has a superb memory (because when I forget what I ordered the previous visit, she's there to refresh my memory, lol) and Fernando, bartender, is extremely pleasant and professional at all times. I recommend this place for families, girls night out, date night, mommy-daughter dates, etc. The sound level is moderate, its pretty intimate, and the parking can be tough, however it's minutes away from the MTA bus, train, and LIRR. read more

Great neighborhood bar! Delicious food, awesome and friendly service all the time. I had a brunch here for my birthday and it was great. Definitely recommend their brunch on weekends! Wing nights on Sundays are always fun as well. Always my "go-to" place for a fun night!! read more

Thank you for the hospitality. Nice atmosphere and great drinks! Definitely will be back!!!

My wife and I love this place, it's our go to local spot. Staff is friendly and attentive, food is priced fairly, it's generally less busy than the other spots in the area which is a huge plus for us, and the music doesn't suck. We go here at least once a week, haven't had a bad meal yet. read more

I've been to Rove now several times and I can honestly say I very much enjoy my meal and the service every time. If you're looking for good, classic American food, Rove is a great spot. The menu is simple and the portions are generous. The service is as good as the food; waiters are very informed, attentive, and friendly. Definitely a great neighborhood spot for brunch, lunch, or casual dinner. read more

Stumbled on this slice of heaven while waiting for a movie. The service staff was fantastic and the food was phenomenal! I would recommend this place again and again! read more

Why have I skipped this place and I have been living here. Totally delicious. Love the food here

the drinks were sooo weak. We ordered drinks at 8:01 and were told we couldn't get happy hour price. We ordered the meat and cheese platter and received 3 pieces of cheese, 4 grapes and five pieces of salami. This was 12 dollars, 12 dollars for nothing. The service was good but the drinks and food were beyond subpar. Don't fall for these reviews. we waited for an hour no food came out so we paid for our drinks and left read more

Service was good waitress was very attentive. However they have a so call brunch menu... aka À la carte Drinks not include not even coffee also pricey with no perks. Coffee which is important was brunt if I knew I would have to pay I would have ask for a new batch. All in all they should up their service being on Austin st with all the competitors. Probably will never go back! read more

Have been walking past it for months, decided to give it a try. Like to do local and after a place has been open a little while. My girlfriend ordered from specials, I from menu. Her salmon looked good and tasted good but not great. I had ravioli with enough cream sauce that I needed a blood stint afterwards, way to heavy and to much. No taste of the filling, was it out of the freezer. Never had much in follow up service. I do want to come back to raise my score read more

Small establishment with nice decor and dim lighting. There's a bar and a seperate area for dining. We came on a friday night and they had happy hour special on certain types of beer and a red or white wine until 8pm. For appetizers we had the filet minion brucetta which was quite tasty. The buffallo siracha chicken thighs were ok. Majority of us ordered the classic burger, which was eh.. nothing spectacular. Now about the entrees. They were extremely small portioned. The pork tenderloin was quite disappointing to my friend. For entree price you would expect a huge portion consider you are paying $20 for it. Instead my friend was presented with 5 small pieces of pork and was still hungry afterwards. The steak looked like a decent size. Overall, this place needs a lot of work on their food and portions. And we waited quite a long time for the food. The staff were very nice and attentive though. They were nice enough to give us 2 free drinks on the house. read more

This was the second time I was tried Rove. I figured everyone is entitled to an off day/night. Service was fine but it took forever for our food to come out. The shrimp mac and cheese and the chicken thighs with mango salsa were pretty good, but the chicken gyro was horrible. The chicken was rubbery and tasted like it was turning, and the tzidiki was very bland. we ordered the burger medium and came out rare and for both sandwiches we asked for the french fries well done and they came out cold and soggy! Needless to say we did not ask to see a dessert menu. It is too bad because it is a cute place, sadly I won't be returning. read more

I came on a Saturday afternoon to meet up with a coworker. I got the burger and fries and had some of their happy hour drinks. The food was ok, needed more flavoring. My coworker had the chicken Marsala and was pleased with her food. It was packed at all and there was no wait for a table. Parking in the area can be a bit harsh though read more

Had better expectations about this place after I found out it was the same owners as Jack n Nellies. The service was horrible. It took 20 mins to jus to get drinks and then like another 40 mins. They only had one wait staff for a busy night which is just bad so I don't blame her even though she got my order wrong and then told me after I waited like so long. The burger was not what I expected after having and loving Jack N Nellies burger. Will not return. read more

I've been to pretty much every restaurant on Austin street so I was excited to see a new one open up. I came here on a Thursday for their pasta nights. The Food was awesome and drinks were on point. The staff was great and our server, Mariah, was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to try something new in forest hills. I plan on coming back. read more

3 stars for now because I need to come back a few more times to try other dishes. Burger was good and cooked to my liking. I like the decor, could use a tiny bit more lighting in the corner where the big tv used to be in the dining area. I hope as Rove evolves, they reconsider their french fries. They were really boring diner steak fries and I was disappointed. I was hoping for fresh cut fries or something with a bit more flavor or texture considering the rest of the menu. When it was Bonfire Grill, they had tasty fries, especially the sweet potato fries with the dips! I miss that dearly. I just hope Rove considers changing the fries to something more fun to eat rather than boring steak fries. Other than that I will be back! read more

Nice place to stop in for a quick drink during happy hour. Appetizers are pretty good but not a fan of their main course meals. Just not as good as their sister restaurant Jack and Nellie which is just around the corner on Ascan Ave. read more

Came here prior to a show at Forest Hills stadium on Saturday afternoon. Food was OK. Device wasn't good - waiting 20 mins for a beer and whiskey soda. Apps and food came out at once after 2 tables who can in after us we're served first read more

I came here to wait for a date for a restaurant across the street and saw the happy hour sign so I was sold. They actually have a good selection Of beers and we'll on happy hour - house wine $6, well drinks $6, warflag pilsner, firestone pilsner, Sierra Nevada pilsner, victory summer love ale, heiny, corona, and amstel $5. It's a bar restaurant as well but I didn't eat any of the good so I can't fairly review that. It's pretty humid when the doors are open, but it's a decent dive bar for the area. A LITTLE more expensive than most dive bars but still good. read more

I had the jerk chicken thighs which were a perfect complement to watching Usain Bolt and his teammates win the 4x100 m relay. Cyril who owns jack and Nellie, a bar on ascan ave., opened Rove and it's a great dining and bar option on Austin st. Salmon entree is good as well. Worth checking out. read more

i went here a few weeks ago for dinner, and the experience was okay...pretty unmemorable...no theme to the restaurant, not much of an identify...but a solid "meh". i went back this morning for brunch and had a pretty unpleasant experience. food was decent (though eggs benedict without home fries? kind of lame), but here are some of the issues/oddities: -incredibly long wait time to get our food -coffee served in "to go" cardboard cup, rather than an actual coffee cup -my milk came with ice cubes in it? two thirds of the glass was full of ice -big party came in while we were eating, and they were seated with plastic fold up chairs i do brunch a lot in forest hills, and am always pretty pleased with the restaurants...but this was really disappointing. definitely choose a different spot for brunch. read more

Love this place. Easy vibe on weekends during the day (picks up at night), awesome food (haven't had a bad meal yet), good beer selection. Most important? Great people. My new go-to spot when I'm in Forest Hills. It's my happy place. read more

Pleasantly surprised to the new addition to Austin st. Our food was delicious and our server was polite and friendly. The owner Eve also came over to check on us which I thought was a lovely touch. Will definitely be back. read more

I usually write a review after more than one visit... I've been here a few times and it is amazing. Great atmosphere, amazing service and the food is incredible. I'm going to take a break from the amazing food and drinks to finish my meal. Amazing spot at the end of the forest hills strip. Highly recommended! read more

Omg I had the most ENCOURAGING brunch this Sunday! I was able to get the shrimp and red potato hash with sunnyside up eggs. I hate runny eggs but I was sooooo happy with this place I decided to give it a shot and I wasn't disappointed. Also the fuzzy slippers was to die for. I will for sure be back. read more

I came here for happy hour Friday night. It wasn't too crowded before 6:30 and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The owner checked up on us halfway through the meal. We tried a bunch of appetizers and my favorites were the braised beef bruschetta and burrata with prosciutto. I tried a bite of my friend's burger, which was delicious as well! Washed it all down with a couple of backyards (only $9!) and a good night was had. read more

Came here for brunch. Coffee came in paper cups. got the steak and eggs and it just wasn't anything special..came with three other friend's and everything was average at best. Potatoes were quite greasy and I just don't see the hype about this place. read more

Have been here twice already and believe it's a solid spot to go. The first time we shared a roast beef, caramelized onion, and blue cheese on toast app and I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich. The second time I went I had the chicken gyro sandwich with a salad. Both times the sandwich was delicious and the service was great. I really wish they hadn't gotten rid of the roast beef, caramelized onion, and blue cheese on roast app - it was divine. I like their happy hour as well that has a nice but small selection of wines and beers for $6 or $7 bucks a glass. Overall I've been happy leaving both times and have recommended it to other friends. Will definitely be back. read more

First time here and I loved it! The place is small but super cozy. I had the grilled salmon salad and it was very flavorful, with the perfect dressing to top it off. I'm definitely coming back :) read more

Wanted to try Rove since moving to FH a few months ago , ventured out tonight to decompress and instead of having a relaxing time , became more distressed . Waited a long time for service , food was unappetizing and literally left with a to go cup of Folgers coffee ! What a huge disappointment for this area ! Needs a revamp in service and ingredients for their entrees !!!!! Let's not forget the dessert was stale ... Worst experience ever .. Will not be going back ... read more

Jack and Nellies sent us here when they were full and we had high hopes. Unfortunately we were really unimpressed with their brunch menu. The bacon was really thick and chewy, the eggs were tough when we ordered sunny side up, and the avocado was strangely dry, as if old. We ordered extra toast for the eggs and they charged us $3 for one small piece of bread. Really hope they switch things up. read more

Place is AWESOME! Owners are friendly and welcoming, food is delicious. Definitely will be back!!

After attempting brunch at Jack and Nellie's, but seeing at least 10 people waiting outside for tables, we decided to try Rove. We walked in and were immediately seated. The hostess, server, and bartender (who delivered our drinks) were all super friendly. $4 mimosas of all flavors were huge and delicious. The brunch special I ordered (a breakfast quesadilla) was superb and my friend's omelette was fantastic. I went back a second time with my mom and we enjoyed it just as much. If you add avocado to anything, you get the most perfectly ripe avocado (which seems almost impossible in NY). Really love this place. The decor is super cute as well. read more
