An excellent, upscale restaurant in the Recoleta barrio of Buenos Aires. The food is delicious and gorgeous, but make sure you have a reservation because the dining room is small. I had the duck, and my husband ordered the cochinito and both were spectacular! From our table we could see the chefs bent over the dishes meticulously sprinkling herbs over the entrees so we knew that some beautiful things were on their way to us, and we weren't disappointed when they arrived. The presentation was artistic and beautifully plated but not fussy, just really appealing. Every single bite was a happy little reward for finding this great place. Our wait staff was perfectly trained for the level of this restaurant; not overly friendly but pleasant and very professional. Definitely a keeper! read more

This is a very good restaurant and although it is not so traditional it has a very renowned chef from Buenos Aires. I believe he used to be the chef at a traditional restaurant in BA but then now he's been flying solo, which is great for the ones who appreciate good cuisine. Their wine menu is not very large but they have great wines on it. The food is delicious and each dish is a masterpiece. I had the impression the chef has this special care on the creation of each dish and he really made us feel special. The desserts are exotic and delicious. I believe that this may be the first review for Roux on Yelp. I rate it 5 stars, not because I know the owner, the chef, or have any affiliation whatsoever. My review and rating is based purely on our dinner there this past Saturday night with another couple. I made a reservation two days in advance. Ambiance: The restaurant, located on a corner, is somewhat small, but elegantly designed and executed. Surprisingly, unlike many upscale restaurants, that rely on dark woods and colors, the lighting and colors are high key, giving a cheerful atmosphere. Everything is first class. From the utensils to the decorating, everything is tastefully exquisite. Service: Our server was Juan. His manner and training are exactly what one expects in an upscale restaurant. Polite, correct, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. He ranks among the best we've had. Food: Within minutes of being seated, we were presented with a couple of complimentary appetizers. The chef here has a penchant for assembling visually spectacular courses that include various teeny weeny bits of this and that. I have not idea what these little bit were, but the tastes and textures were delightful. On of the appetizers was a gazpacho, sprinkled with these unidentifiable little bits. Something crunchy, something salty, something sweet. I wish knew what they were, but I don't mind a little mystery. C and I ordered a tenderloin of llama appetizer, which they thoughtfully split. It was heavenly. C ordered Patagonian trout with fried saffron and I ordered pork ribs with truffled potato gnocchi Both beautifully prepared and presented. Of course, the flavors were wonderful. I don't recall what our friends ordered, but they too gave everything the highest compliments. For desert, C and I shared kinotos (quince) in syrup with brie and kadaif with vanilla ice cream. Simply divine and topped with a paper thin candied orange slice. Beyond pretty. Sadly, I didn't make note of the two bottle of wine that we ordered, but I can report that they have an extensive wine list with wines at every price point. My recollection was that our wines were about $160 (pesos). We will be back. read more

First off, amazing waiter! She spoke great spanish and english, knew who we were ahead of time, and knew about my gluten allergy. We were 9 and split into a table of 4 and 5 (wish it was 1 table but the place is tiny so we understood) and she handled them both nicely. Food was amazing! 100% recommend the mussels and venison. The venison is something worth dreaming about. Octopus carpaccio was pretty and good but nothing special. Herring was also great. Dessert- ice cream isnt the typical one. I'd say ask questions to make sure it is what you'd like. To know-While we were sitting, we saw someone come in who thought their reservation was at 8:30 not 8. It was about 8:20 and they turned them away. Also many people tried to walk in and were turned away. They lock the door in between opening it and a server is the only one who opens it. I guess this is their way of dealing with people who try to walk in. It may take a minute but they notice you. read more

My friends and I had dinner at Roux while vacationing in Argentina. It was by far one of the best meals I've ever had. Our group had the llama carpaccio, tuna tartare, prawns and octopus carpaccio for appetizers and they were all excellent tasting and the presentation was artful. Entrees were suckling goat, spinach risotto with prawns, fish of the day and suckling pig.... all delicious as well. The sommelier was knowledge and spoke English. Stephanie our waitress was great and spoke English as well. Chef Martin came out and took a photo with us. We're only in Argentina for five days and we have already booked another reservation before we go back to the states. If your vacationing or live in Argentina you must try Roux!!! read more

If you are a food and gastronomy lover, this is a place that you should not miss when visiting BA. Chef Martin Rebaudino and his staff produce delicious dishes that are extremely inventive and innovative, and are also flat out gorgeous. It feels like you are eating a piece of art with every course. The Grilled King prawns from Santa Cruz with grilled melon and endives and almonds coulis were the table favorite appetizer, but the tuna ceviche was a close second - both were delicious overall. For my main, I enjoyed the fish of the day, which was cooked in a delicious, crispy coating of quinoa and served with cauliflower, squid and a vegetable puree. The atmosphere here is a more sophisticated and elegant than most BA restaurants, but it is not at all pretentious or stuffy. I was there with my husband and parents in law. My father in law is hard of hearing, but this restaurant was quiet enough that he did not have any issues hearing the conversation, which was a huge plus. read more

Best meal we experienced while in Buenos Aires. The Sea bass with squid on the side was extremely well done. The rixoto dish was also excellent, but that Sea Bass... The wait staff was very attentive. The atmosphere was peaceful even though the city can be busy and noisy. Great way to close out trip. Our group of three adults arrived first before opening hours but were seated in the tiny round table in the picture shown on their website. To make it worse, thus table was pushed next to the rectangular for four adults. This table was given to a couple with a child in stroller who sat next to us. They arrived after us but seated first. Like the previous review, my experience at Roux was beyond anything I have experienced in BA. I dined there back in October with a group of 8. Even though the space is small, we fit in without being imposing on other guests. The menu was well though out, and the chef/owner has a great pedigree with experienced gained from Oviedo among other places. All dishes were delicious and the presentations were excellent. The service was spot on by both the waiter and sommelier. The wine list goes beyond most of the usual suspects, although we opted to being two bottles of Burg. Corkage was reasonable. Visiting Roux along with a few other places like Nola, Chochan and Fukuro get me believing that BA has some potential in terms of developing a restaurant scene outside of the mediocre and dull offerings that are so synonymous with this City. Terrific dinner recently, featuring a starter of morels, duxelles, small veal meatballs and Brussels sprouts in a wine reduction sauce; main course was silverside (a local fish, about the same consistency as trout), served on a bed of squid-ink tagliatelle ribbons and a few strips of octopus. The staff (some speak perfect English and the menu is bilingual), were very attentive, and they all ensured that I had a top quality dining experience ( as a single female diner I have had many experiences where I am almost completely ignored!). From the warm greetings between customers and front-of-the-house staff, this seems to me to be a place where there are a lot of "regulars" who dine there frequently; that is always a good sign. read more

Was visiting BA from the US and has seen some nice reviews on Roux. We were staying in Recoleta and walked by Roux and stopped in to make a reservation for four for Thanksgiving night. The dinner was by far the best we experienced in BA. The cuisine was awesome. From the llama carpaccio to the risotto....to the paco...to the cheese course, the food was amazing. A very simple, organic, clean approach to the food. Our server was delightful and gratefully spoke english (with a good Texan twist!!!) The wine list too was thoughtful. We enjoyed two bottles of Lagarde Henry that was very reasonably priced. Just what a restaurant should be...Wonderful atmosphere, tremendous food and personable well timed service. Highly recommended! We spent a week in Buenos Aires and our favorite meal was at this restaurant. The chef employs a refined, modern approach. By International standards it's a great bargain. Many other meals were had at this price point with disappointing results. Staff if friendly and helpful in accommodating our very limited Spanish. Many local and imported products, with really a very wide selection of fish and game. I had local duck and my dining companion had a local white fish. Both were excellent. It's the same menu for lunch or dinner, and either is highly recommended. read more

Delicious!!! Got the octopus carpaccio and the pink trout. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. This was definitely not a cheap restaurant, on the pricier side, but had great reviews and we wanted to try. Definitely did not disappoint!!! read more
