You've heard the radio commercials a thousand times: 4 wheels, $99.88…read more You've also heard the disclaimer in the radio commercials: "additional work is often required at substantial extra cost." The promise of a cheap price next to that disclaimer kept me out of a Just Brakes for years because I wasn't sure if I'd be fleeced or not. But I needed a brake job and I didn't have a lot of money. I decided to give them a shot. So what's the verdict? 1. I don't think anybody walks out of here paying $99.88. $99.88 covers the pads & turning the rotors. To do that plus change some of the other hardware that wears out plus change the fluid came to $250 + tax on my car. That's about in line with the last time I had my brakes worked on and comes with a written warranty, so I can't complain. 2. The manager was able to explain what needed to be done in a way that I could understand. 3. The job was done competently within a reasonable amount of time.

This isn't about the store. I'm pretty sure the store is good, but I just wanted to say something…read more I had a very disappointing experience here today. I'm 13 years old, and I was riding my electric bike. There was an open space through the oil change bays, and I thought I could ride through it to get to the other side. While I was there, I accidentally fell off my bike. An employee who had a beard and was wearing what I believe was a hat immediately started yelling, "Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?" I was confused and replied, "Nothing." He then said, "This is a business." I told him that I was just riding through. Instead of calmly explaining the rules or asking me to leave politely, he told me to "get the **** out of here" twice. I was honestly shocked because I'm only 13 years old, and I didn't expect an adult to talk to me that way over what was just a mistake. I got back on my bike and left. As I was leaving, I said, "You weird, bro," and rode away. I understand that businesses have rules and may not want people riding through their service area. If that was the case, a simple and respectful explanation would have been enough. There was no reason to yell or use profanity toward a child. I hope management addresses how employees speak to people, especially kids. Being treated with respect goes a long way, even when someone makes a mistake. This experience left me with a very negative impression. Bad customer service and I was actually gonna ask him. I was thinking about it. I was gonna ask him the ratings about this place and stuff like that.

Three cars in each of the three bays, and I was in and out in probably 25 minutes? Less time than was predicted when I pulled up. From the moment I arrived, Will immediately stepped up and began assisting me. He quickly assessed what I was there for, got me started right away, and made sure my visit was efficient from beginning to end. What stood out most was that while others seemed more focused on standing around and talking, Will took the initiative to help me so I could get in and out without wasting time. During my visit, I overheard a conversation about coolant flushes, which I already knew I needed. When I asked Will about it, he took the time to thoroughly explain the entire process, answer every question I had, and make sure I understood exactly what was being done to my vehicle. He never pressured me into purchasing anything. Instead, he provided honest information and let me make an informed decision. Throughout the entire experience, Will remained professional, patient, and positive. Even when there were issues with the system during checkout, he never got frustrated. He kept a smile on his face, maintained a great attitude, and handled everything calmly and professionally. He never interrupted me, talked over me, or made me feel rushed. He listened, communicated clearly, and treated me with respect. I am a regular customer at this location, and after this experience, knowing that Will works there gives me even more reason to continue coming back. He genuinely stood out among everyone working that day. Employees like him are hard to find. Take 5 should absolutely take notice of the outstanding young man they have on their team. Will demonstrates leadership, initiative, professionalism, and exceptional customer service. He carries himself like someone who is destined for bigger things. Whether his future is with Take 5 or elsewhere, I have no doubt he is going places in life. In my opinion, he is exactly the type of employee a company should want to retain, invest in, and promote. I could easily see him successfully managing a location of his own one day. Thank you, Will, for making what could have been a routine oil change visit into an exceptional customer experience.

If that's the case, there wasn't a reason to come here. Other than that, I'll only return when I get another somewhat deal in the mail.

Avoid this place -- they take advantage and waste your time…read more I went in for a simple oil change on my Nissan Versa, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish. First, they asked if I wanted the same oil I've gotten before -- I said yes, assuming they'd stick to that. Instead, they gave me a more expensive full synthetic oil without clearly telling me, and at checkout tried to charge me $123 for an oil change that should cost far less. That's the kind of price you'd expect for a large SUV, not a small compact car. It also took 45 minutes just to do the oil change -- way too long, especially when I didn't ask for anything extra. They spent more time nitpicking every little thing wrong with my car and trying to upsell me on services I never requested. If you're on a tight schedule, do not go here. I also felt like they tried to take advantage of the assumption that I wouldn't know much about oil types or car maintenance. It's frustrating and insulting -- I shouldn't have to fight just to get straightforward service. Bottom line: If you value your time, your money, and being treated with basic respect, go somewhere else.

These past few weeks when I have been struggling to use my car with two broken external handles, I…read moreWISHED I had the mechanical skills to fix my car. Since I do not, the next best thing was finding LA Auto which is Woman owned and Operated to fix my ride! LA Auto was brought to my attention thanks to the Projects feature in the Yelp App. I sent out a request for a job or service and Yelp broadcasted it to businesses to reach out to me concerning the service. I had initially had a different mechanic before LA Auto that was going to do the job, but a price change occurred before the vehicle was in their possession. Decide to nix that mechanic and go back to the drawing board acquiring estimates for the job. By this point, I had already ordered and picked up my parts directly from the dealership so they would match my vehicle. All I needed was the labor to complete the repair. I was really intrigued that there was a Woman owned and operated auto shop in Houston, so I decided to reach back out to the shop about an estimate for labor. My inquiry was Friday afternoon, so I didn't expect to hear back until Monday. Liz, the Owner, however, was in contact with me in and out the entire weekend asking for pictures of the parts to ensure they were correct for the vehicle based on the VIN as well as making sure they didn't need to paint the handles. She gave me a range on the price for the labor, which I could understand because she never saw the vehicle before- only pictures of the damage. We did most of our communication on Monday which offerred a great opportunity for me to get the car fixed that afternoon since she had an opening. I honestly thought I may have to come back another day to get the job completed because EVERY OTHER BODY SHOP I SPOKE TO said I would have to drop the car off just to get an estimate. I did that with one Pearland body shop and received a quote of over a THOUSAND dollars just to fix some handles! They even stated the labor was high because the panels of the car had to be removed. Thanks to Youtube, II knew that was not the case and Liz the owner and my mechanic confirmed my research as she completed the work on the vehicle in less than an hour WITHOUT removing the inside panels. She worked fast and I was even able to see her work from the office which provides a chair or two inside for waiting customers. A/C is blizzard cold inside the waiting area, so bring a jacket. This is not your car dealership waiting room with tvs and refreshments, so bring your own, but Liz worked so fast I didn't need to indulge in either! Really friendly, sincere, and affordable service from Liz at LA Auto. I am so glad to not only have my car repaired (FINALLY, with the exception of one small part that the dealership gave me in error that doesnt affect the main fix) but I am so estatic to support a small business owned and operated by women. I am telling everyone I know about LA Auto if they ever need repairs on their vehicle. This place is a real gem and deserves to shine!
