Bought a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan not too long ago from here. Shortly after 3 months of having it,…read morethe check engine light came on. After 4 months of driving it and not even putting 1,000 miles on it, it would not start one day. Got it towed to the Volkswagen dealership who informed me that my vehicle had suffered, "catastrophic damage" and the engine needs to be replaced because the timing belt jumped. In simple terms, they told me that, "The top of the engine hit the bottom." I strongly urge you to refrain from buying a car here unless you enjoy taking uber to work everyday.

My wife and I bought a truck with this guys(not our first time buying from a dealer), Juan was the sales representative taking care of us. We checked out the vehicle on a Sunday and completed the purchase on a Wednesday, it took a little too long but for us to get the car out of their lot to be honest, they hold the truck supposedly for the mechanic to get it inspected, we were told the truck was to leave the lot with every oil checked and changed, BIG LIE. The tiny screen on the dashboard said that the truck had 40% life oil when we test drove the vehicle and it remained the same way till we finally took it home, we end up taking it to Valvoline for routine checks and oil changes, all this payed out of pocket. They registered the truck just as every dealer should and have to do I guess, well a few days after we had the truck with us we came to find out we were missing the small sticker that goes on the top right corner of the license plate, we found out the hard way after getting pulled over for driving with expired registration based on the plate, the actual registration was up to date, the cop gave us a break due to the pandemic and after we explained to him that we had just bought the truck and that it was a mistake from the dealer. After calling Juan, the sales representative who sold us the truck, Juan gave us a ton of bullshit about the sticker and took him a couple of days to finally get us the darn sticker, not cool Juan I'm just glad we didn't have to keep going back and forward with this guys, I'm pretty sure there's not next time with this people and for sure will be reading reviews before hand.

I cannot recommend Ken enough! I needed to get out of my lease early and purchase another vehicle,…read moreand he made the process a breeze. He promptly replied to my email and immediately got to work helping me find the best course of action. If you hate lengthy visits to the dealership and the confusing nature of salesmen and the auto buying process, AMS Auto is the way to go. There wasn't a moment during the process that I felt uninformed or stressed, and I couldn't have walked away happier with the price for my trade-in and new car. Knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly saves you time and peace of mind.

I attempted to use Ken last summer for purchasing a vehicle from a used car auction but let him go,…read moreforfeited my retainer, and just got my vehicle from CarMax. I was not very happy with the quality of communication during the process. Believing that used car auctions are a thin market, I started with a broad set of models of interest, and Ken asked me to narrow it down aggressively. I did so (to a Mazda CX-5); then there was nothing on the horizon to consider. I got to hear about a couple specimens in the same size class (Ford Escapes). He once pinged me about a model that in a different, much larger, size class, and I wasted a bit of time looking up specifications to figure that out. In paying a cash brokerage fee to access a weird market, I expect my agent to have a good intuition for the depth of the market and not to mix up size classes. Ken shared vehicles coming up for auction by texting me illegible cell phone pictures of his computer screen. It wasn't a good experience to go through those. Some vehicles had reports of damage, and I often felt he was trying to minimize rather than clarify what the damage reports meant. Ken may well be a great asset in purchasing a vehicle from a dealer. Since the cars can be inspected in person and dealer does the work of presenting the vehicles, I think it could go very well to have a professional like Ken on your team to push back on the dealer. I think the 5-star reviews here attest to this possibility. However, I don't think this is the case for purchasing a vehicle from an auction. In the spirit of constructive criticism, I think Ken could offer a used car auction experience of some interest after improving his communication. After paying Ken's fee, shipment, detailing, repairs, etc., you'll save $1-2k versus the CarMax price for the equivalent car. In return, you bear an uncertain wait for your car to come up at auction and to be processed; the work/irritation of registering the car yourself at the end; no warranty; and the risk of nasty surprises in bringing a sight-unseen used car up to snuff through garages that Ken knows and you don't. In the end, I decided that the potential savings weren't worth the risk, delay, and trouble.

I drove about 45 minutes to Lynn to look at a 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5s with only 63k miles…read moreadvertised online for $7,950. The lot looked sketchy and the "large inventory" that was bragged about by the owner Tom was non-existent. I walked straight to the Altima and was in total shock. Online the images were a practically brand new looking 2003 vehicle. When I spoke to Tom he said that this was a great car with no body damage and a steal because of the low mileage. When inspecting the vehicle I was disappointed. The two front headlights were foggy, dents right under the grill, a long scratch on the driver's side of the vehicle, rust along the gas tank, and a huge dent on the trunk, and more scratches along the passenger side of the vehicle. Tom said "Oh it has a few dings and dents but nothing too major". The tag on the car was selling for $8,950 and Tom offered to sell it for $8,000, but over the phone he said he'd sell it for $7, 490. He appeared to be very zoned out. Long story short he was not knowledgeable about this vehicle or any of the limited vehicles that he had. Save yourself your money, gas, and time and stay away.

April 2011 I had to made repairs and then the transmission started failing. I take it back and explain this to them, and the "sales manager" refused to do anything about it. And the owner ignored my calls. I have since taken the car to Jack Madden Ford to be looked at, and only to find out they did in fact try and make major repairs to the car in order to sell it, of which they did not disclose prior to selling the car. Therefore that can expect to receive my 30 day demand letter of which I know they are ignorant and will not respond so will we be in court very soon. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM.

He responded right away and set up time for me and my wife to come to the dealership and test drive the car. When we arrived, the car was even better than we expected. Alex helped us every step of the way with financing and he gave us a great deal with the decent percentage and he also was incredibly patient with the paperwork and walked us through the entire process. I don't write a lot of these reviews, but when I have a great experience I give the credit. I will definitely share this experience with my friends. I picked up the vehicle on April 1. On April 6th, an independent mechanic found several issues that had not been addressed, including concerns with the O2 sensors, exhaust system, error codes, and worn tires. That evening while driving on the highway with my kids in the car multiple warning lights came on and the car began shaking while driving. We had to arrange towing back to the dealership at our own expense. While they did perform some repairs (including replacing the O2 sensors (these are brand new!), a follow-up inspection still showed that the exhaust will likely need replacement, the radiator was not actually new, and the Run-Flat tires had been repaired rather than replaced. Overall, the vehicle was not delivered in the condition promised, and we spent significant time arranging transportation and following up. I would strongly recommend having any vehicle independently inspected before purchase. Based on this experience, I would proceed with caution.

They did fix some electrical problems but we're tough to deal with and acted like it was so wrong to ask for a decent vehicle for a high price. That was a good cop out at best, but is illegal in MA. But they said there's nothing I can do to recover the funds, and I was stuck with a sick vehicle. Typical shady sales tactics and dishonest business processes. You can't trust them, and need to be wary about your excitement over buying a "luxury " vehicle when it comes to Auto Brokers.
