Muddy sink hole with no power for 18 hours!
    Lindsey R.

Arrived on a Saturday with assurances that our site was ready. Drove to the farthest site in the park (100ft from 15 - that's another beef!) and noted that it was occupied. Waited 20 minutes while on hold with the campground supplied number. Finally decided to drive up front. Passed the guy in "our" site who was apparently staying two more nights. After waiting to talk to the front desk person, she apologized and said she forgot that they had moved us a few spaces away. Looks like our site was recently added. Barely could level. Front door was hard to close. Big sink hole in the mud near the sewer and power. Halfway into our stay we lost power. Turns out no one else near us lost their power. Of course the office was closed and I wasn't confident anyone would ever answer anyway! I tried and left a message anyway. We finally determined our power cable would reach the vacant site next to us and plugged in to it. We now have power. We have 18 more hours here and I can't wait to leave. I can not recommend this place! Looks like it has been rundown. Being near 15 is EXTREMELY noisy. Constant road noise. Trust me, stay anywhere else. Oh, I forgot to mention, the manager-looking guy didn't even give me a glance as I checked in. Way to alienate your customers.

Poor Paid for W,E,S, and cable 8 days Received A poorly maintained, unlevel site No cable wifi if you paid for it Power went out 3 times, once for over 24 hrs. In 100° weather. Sewer consisted of a stinky storage tank Pool was down for a couple days Complained and was offered a site with no picnic table and not large enough to extend our slideout. And no offer for a refund for amenities paid for but not recicieved. Would not recommend Date of stay: June 25 - July 3 2021 Trip type: Traveled with family

The worst campground we have ever been to. We booked through Expedia, was told no deposit was needed at that time only to be charged a deposit a week later. Arrived at the campground around 4 on Saturday and noticed the site behind us was very damp. We just drove 9 hours so we weren't sure if it had rained or what so we brushed it off. We had to ask the family behind us to remove their stuff from our site. They had multiple sites around us and were also using ours since we hadn't arrived yet. We had to go to the office a few times to ask about the wifi, no one, not even the office manager, Kara could help us to get it to work. She actually gave us her log in to use the wifi. Then on Tuesday we were woke up at 7:30 to backhoes driving up on the site behind us where the water was. We got no notice of work that needed to be done. When we approached the office they informed us they didn't know it was going to be worked on that day. How do you not know what is going on with your campground? Then the fun really began. Scott, I guess he's the manager decided to come visit the site. Condescending isn't even the best word to describe this man. He kept talking over us as we were explaing the situation, told us it was all in our head that there was no foul smell, that these things just happen. Informed us there was a few leaks that needed to be repaired and that's why the work was being done. They shut off our water with no notice, and only turned it back on right before Scott came over to our site. When Scott left he told us if we wanted to move he would move us. Great, they tried to move us to the other side of the site that had the standing water. Nope not happening. Called the office after and they informed us the only cabin they had included a queen size bed, a full and a pull out couch. I have three kids, two smaller girls and a older boy... they can't be in the same bed. This is why we selected the cabin with the bunks. So we opted to go with the first cabin they offered on the other side of the standing water. Well after all the back and forth the cleaning crew was gone for the day... at 4:45. We asked why the cabin, that had been empty since Sunday hadn't been cleaned only to be told by Scott it was none of our business. We ended up staying in the original cabin to finish our trip since the only other option was to move that day and then again the next day. On Wednesday after a day of sight seeing we came back to see that they had spread hay over the site that had been dug up. The lack of communication, the level of ignorance from Scott and the basic amenities we paid for not being available are why we will never be back. The coin machine in the laundry room doesn't work, the pool table keeps the cue ball if you scratch so theres no point to the game, the kiddie pool was down for two days, the store closes at 5 so if you need fire wood or ice or if you want to play put put, your out of luck. Don't waste your money.

Mini golf spot, arcade games room, nice pool, cabins to rent and let's talk about their camping store...it had everything you could possibly want in there! And I'm not joking! From camping stuff to little swimmers for toddlers and Gettysburg merch. Just everything! BONUS - they have an ice cream parlor! Ahhhh! Definitely our best KOA stay! Our family of four, plus our Boston Terrier, stayed in a two room camping cabin. It was great because my husband and I had our own room and space, and our boys (10 and almost 12) had their own too. It was SWELTERING hot this week, but thankfully our cabin had an AC in the back room and ceiling fans in both rooms, which kept us nice and cool. It also had a decent sized mini fridge, which allowed us to eat at the cabin a majority of meals and cut down on food cost. It's an absolutely beautiful location outside of downtown Gettysburg. Our cabin was secluded and situated at the end of a path, so even though we had neighbors, no one was walking by/through our site at all (which can be really frustrating when you're crammed like sardines at other campgrounds). At night we'd sit by our campfire and watch the fireflies. I've never seen so many in my life; The trees around our site looked like they were twinkling with lights every night. I brought our dog for a walk early one morning and even saw a deer in one of the empty camper sites. It couldn't have been more than 20 feet from me, eating from one of the bushes. Just an overall gorgeous and serene place. Our boys also had a fantastic time. There was so much for them to do! They did a magic workshop and saw a magic show, did movie and popcorn nights at the pavilion, listened to Civil War ghost stories, swam, played mini golf/shuffleboard, mined for gems, rode the funky bikes, jumped on the jump pad, played on the playground, played jumbo chess/jenga/connect 4, made some great friends, and the list goes on... Because it is a fairly small and quiet campground, we felt safe letting them walk to and from these activities. It allowed us to give them more independence and trust, which we all enjoyed. We've been at campgrounds where there were adults up partying, being loud/drunk, blasting music into the wee hours of morning. To our relief, this KOA had none of that! It was very family friendly. But above all else, the entire staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were always greeted with a smile and friendliness. This is a perfect example of what a KOA should be!! Our family was very sad to be packing up and leaving today, but I have no doubt that we will be back in the near future. Thank you all for making our week in Gettysburg so wonderful! :)

We were supposed to print something out (yeah, let me plug my printer in... ) to show that we were "supposed" to be there. - NEVER saw an employee. The cost for the lack of maintenance was not worth it: - Bathrooms are not centrally located. - We had to hook up to the water: the water on the campsite smelled like sulphur (rotten eggs) - do they operate a public water supply that is not required to be treated? We used bottled water and didn't shower. - There was improper drainage: a culvert and ditch adjacent to the campsite was full of standing water, breeding nice lovely bugs. - The site was once a tent site. Pulled off the road and was four feet off the main camp road. - The tow vehicle was two feet from a massive boulder, which was supposed to be a pull through site. - Pulling offsite was a sketchy business because so many other campsites have additional buildings, dodads, etc., which encroach on the teeny gravel roads. - Buildings (cottages?) looked run down and unkempt. Courtesy: - Golf carts and vehicles alike travel the road late at night; most vehicles are well above the posted 10 mph speed limit. - Most campsite drivers have no interest in getting "stuck" behind someone towing; they will gladly speed up to get ahead of you, even if it means cutting you off. - Other campers were not all that friendly - we walked the route we were going to use to pull off and everyone just stared. It's the most bizarre camping experience I have ever had. This was not a favorable experience for us.

Our dog will bark for three hours if we bring him, even though he's not a barker. Strange place and not with us, he will bark. So, the cost to board him is outrageous. So, it's dog or no go!
