NO CAP. first of all, even though we had a reservation, the minute we got there, we decided to go to a different restaurant--there was a private party going on in the other room and we wanted a quieter night. but, adrian ended up being the sole reason we stayed. he was so hospitable and personable, despite us telling him that we were debating on leaving, that we decided to stay just because we didn't want to miss out on the experience of having this great guy as a waiter (which is rarer than you think these days)!!!!!! we ended up being right. not only is this guy incredibly hospitable and personable, but he is also extremely thoughtful, intuitive, and intelligent--proven by how he ended up being a WIZARD w the recommendations. he recommended a drink for me and a different one for my friend, and let me tell you that he absolutely nailed it on the head, both were fitted exactly to our tastes. it was so so sooooo perfect, it almost felt like it was tailor made just for us despite the fact that they were menu items. and in addition to that, every dish he recommended ended up being spectacular. great presentation and very verrrry good food!!!! we ordered more dishes than we normally would have because we just trusted his recommendations so much that we felt like we needed to try as many as we could. last of all, it was my birthday and we couldn't decide on dessert, so he asked me if he could surprise us. i said yes because after the incredible drinks and food we had, i knew i could trust him w my life if needed. and we were right once again because he brought out the best slice of strawberry cheesecake i couldve ever asked for. I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant because of their valet situation. When I dined at Rouge Cafe, I trusted their valet service with my car. I was told my vehicle would be parked safely on the property. Instead, I later found out it was left blocks away on a public street at a meter. While under their control, my car was broken into. The back window was smashed and several valuable personal items were stolen, including a YSL backpack, Cole Haan backpack, my work computer, and Bond No. 9 cologne. What makes this even worse is that the valet company claimed no responsibility, and Rouge Cafe also tried to distance themselves from the situation -- even though they are the ones who hired and partnered with the valet service. As a customer, I was blatantly misled and left with thousands in damages and losses. If you care about your safety, your property, or basic honesty from a business, I strongly urge you to reconsider dining here. No guest should ever go through what I went through. read more

I got there at 5pm on a Saturday night for my birthday celebration (5 of us) and they were just prepping the place up so I was the first one there. I had no idea that this place was here for 14 years and was previously a hookah bar. I loved the indoor/outdoor ambiance with boho chic backdrops and beautiful greenery. The three levels consisting of a dining area, bar area, and lounge area were very appealing. Their drinks and dishes are so unique and delicious (chef's kiss)! We ordered the following, family-style and we LOVED every bite: PAN BUTTERED SOURDOUGH we devoured this CHARRED SPANISH OCTOPUS perfect with fennel and fermented black beans BEETS BY DRO so beautiful and refreshing with bursts of flavors from the avocado, passion fruit, pomegranate & pistachio BLUE LUMP CRAB PASTA with chili oil and caviar. A must-try! SEAFOOD PAELLA nice & savory PANNA COTA with vanilla bean, furikake flakes, and cherry compote. This was my complimentary birthday treat! It was delicious! I'm so glad they didn't do a boring, run of the mill, gelato/ice cream like other places. For drinks I got ARROW THROUGH ME with KUMIHO DJN. POMEGRANATE. BLACK CURRANT. ROSE WATER. LIME. EGG WHITE. Went to Rouge for my birthday with no knowledge of the restaurant and we DO NOT REGRET IT! The food was 6 out of 5 stars! Everything we ordered was so good we needed up ordering a second appetizer after our entree! Appetizers: We started with the Tiger Shrimp with Crab, I have no idea what they put in the sauce for this dish but it was hard not to lick the plate! After we had our entrees we ordered the Sea Bass Skewers, I love sea bass and originally we did not order this because "skewers" threw me off but I am so glad we did! It was large pieces of fish that were so perfectly cooked. Would get again! I had the honey glazed salmon and my husband had the chicken and potatoes dishes- both were superb! For desert we had the panacotta- my husband said it changed his mind about the dish it was so creamy and delicious! All in all, we will be returning! read more

Love this place! It has a Tulum-y vibe and it's such a cute place. The food was amazing also! I got the herb crusted chicken and broccolini and my boyfriend got the burger and everything was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to come back and try more food. The overall service that was provided by the manager Suzy was exceptional. She was very attentive and made sure that all our needs and wants were fulfilled. The fantastic hospitality was just one of the reasons I will definitely go back. Suzy and Narek were able to accommodate us even though we were a large group. The food was brought out promptly and it was perfect for sharing. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant. To anyone who goes here on a double date or 4 ppl please be careful they charge a large party gratuity fee even though I looked it up and it said that a large party is considered 6 or more people. The place is great don't get me wrong the vibe drinks and hookah are spot on however it is unethical to nickel and dime a party of only 4 ppl and automatically charge gratuity in the check. This left a bad taste in our mouth and I hope that this practice does not continue otherwise this place will lose business fast. read more

My daughter and her friends went to restaurant today at 7 PM. They paid the waitress, and when they realized that the young girls, aged 16 and 17, were just given water without asking, they ended up paying $56 just for water that they didn't request. The waitress simply brought bottled water without asking if they wanted a refill. It was quite unpleasant, despite the restaurant having a nice ambiance and good food. This experience was very disappointing. It's really unfortunate that the waitstaff took advantage of the fact that there was a group of young girls to make extra money and increase their sales. They could have asked the girls if they wanted anything and informed them that the bottled water was not complimentary. Also, the iced tea was brought without asking, and they just took the glasses away and brought full ones of iced tea. My daughter mentioned that they didn't even drink the iced tea and just wasted their money. This place is extremely overhyped. I visited on 6/14 around 10 PM. They charged $80 for a hookah that barely lasted 30 minutes, and their drinks--priced at $19--were absolutely terrible. When I mentioned to the waitress that the hookah tasted burnt, she claimed hookahs are only meant to last 30-45 minutes, which is just not true. On top of that, she gave me attitude for simply voicing my concerns. The final bill for just one hookah and two drinks somehow came out to $150. Nobody came to check on us, we kept trying to get someone's attention, and the servers were checking on other tables while ignoring ours. It took forever just to order food and even to get water. Ambiance was perfect--my friend and I were seated outside and the weather was just right. We had rsvp at 8 pm but it wasn't cold at all, and if it was, there are heaters around. I am a sucker for restaurants that incorporate lots of plants, makes me feel like I'm on a vacation. Lights were dim but enough so you can still see the person across from you. Music wasn't loud. Decor was on point. Loved the vibes here. Finally. THE FOOD!!! Beets were AMAZING- it was such a pleasant surprise with every bite. Beets and pomegranate?! Excellent pairing. It was such a flavor explosion that I had to take a moment to pause and savor the flavor every time I took a bite. What really took the dish to the next level was the yellow cream(?). It had a cumin taste to it which really married all the flavors together--definitely a wow factor. Octopus- YUMM!! Another top dish! Spanish charred octopus sitting on deliciously crafted elote. The octopus was prepared just right--not too chewy, not too hard. I like how the end of the tentacle had a burnt taste to it, it changed the profile of the "perfect bite." Porridge reminds me of a dish you eat when you're sick or feeling homesick. This ain't it. This is a full entree with rich flavors. It's a dish you should try, nonetheless! Spicy vodka pasta- ehhhhh. This dish wanted to be in the lineup so badly but didn't make the cut. It was OKAY, nothing exciting, no wow factor, no surprises. I think the sauce could be a little thicker. Maybe some basil? Cracked pepper? The flavor profile of this dish would be described as monotone. It DID have a kick though, which was nice. This dish was the only one that's taken home. I would skip on this. Been admiring the photos online and really dig the whole renovation. They completely re-did the place and it's BEAUTIFUL. The decor is almost Mediterranean/Tulum vibes with a great closed/open air concept. Stopped by on a Wednesday night for a quick bite and we were literally the only people there. Maybe it's a much more happening place on the weekends. For being the only people there the staff was a bit absent, but when present, extremely nice. They made great food recommendations and wow the food was just delicious! - Steak Tartare Toast was buttery, soft, and just the perfect salty bite and pretty big. -Cremini mushroom pasta!! Umami umami umami! The chew on the pasta was perfect and that creamy mushroom sauce was just too good. Totally recommend! - Persian love story was the perfect salty/sweet treat. If that's your ham, go for it! Yum. Parking may be a slight issue but they do have valet parking available. What a delightful find in Studio City! First of all, the space: a green, peaceful, spacious oasis with plenty of room to lounge or dine. Secondly, the service: helpful, friendly and attentive. As all the wine is Armenian the waitress generously brought 3 different pours of white wine for my husband to choose. I also want to say the stemware was so elegant - very thin lip to glass and long stem. My flûte of bubbly was filled to the brim which was very much appreciated! The food was delicious and original and beautifully presented in low plates. You could just stick to appetizers and enjoy their extensive choices. Was invited here this past week for a holiday get together and I was thoroughly impressed. I remember coming here eons ago and was shocked to discover what they done to the new rouge - it has gone through an entire transformation (the good kind) which now makes it one of my favorite spots on ventura blvd. the vibe/ambience was very fitting, it felt like I was transported to Tulum; in addition, the DJ on this Thursday night was absolutely incredible. I am a DJ myself and I know a good DJ when I hear one ;). Most important, the show stopper here was the food and the hookah. We had ordered a bunch of starters/entrees and they were ALL SO GOOD! The stuffed tiger shrimp, chilean seabass skewers, calamari, vodka posta, fettucini, burger/fries, steak, etc, everything was good here. They also have a special designated area for the hookah near the bar which is a great added touch. It's hard for a spot to have good food AND hookah, but rouge excels in both. Lastly, our server Narek was phenomenal and was attentive the whole night - he was always there when we needed him and ensured we were well taken care of. I've been to this place over 5 years ago for my birthday before the remodeling. I had a great time for my birthday back then. So I decided to surprise my girlfriend on her birthday since the scenery is now completely different from back then. My girlfriend didn't even recognize the place until I told her. She was surprised with family and friends as we entered the lounge. The food is also pretty good. Our waitress was very helpful and polite. She was there whenever we had questions or needed more food and drinks. We had a party of 13 people, so there was a $50 minimum per person.
