His recommendations were so different from the other bidders, that I needed to do research and ask other experts in the field to confirm his recommendations. His recommendations were on point with the science of attic ventilation. The other bidders usually saw 1 of the 3 things he observed. Read review below:…read more August 14, 2012 - On June 6th, we were told by a Daech & Bauer representative named Chris during our initial meeting that we could call the office to tell them what color we picked for our new siding OR we could tell them when they come out for their pre-construction meeting. My wife called 3 times over the course of several weeks leaving 3 phone messages for someone to return our call. Nobody returned our phone calls. - On July 17th, nearly 6 weeks without hearing from any Daech & Bauer representative, I called to cancel service since we were not being responded to. I explained to Natalie that since we had left 3 phone messages over the course of several weeks and nobody called us back from the office that we would like to cancel service. She said they were waiting for us to notify them of our choice of color and THEN they would schedule the pre-construction meeting. That is not what we were told by Chris. That also does not account for 3 unreturned phone messages. - After stating that I would still like to cancel service since we are not satisfied with their service thus far, I was told that I would have to speak to a manager named Ryan who would call me back. He never called. I called back and was given his cell phone number. I called and left a message. After several missed phone calls back and forth, I left Ryan a message to allow us to cancel service since we were unsatisfied with their service due to the above mentioned reasons. He returned the call and said we would forfeit 20% since we signed a contract with them. We were stuck unless we wanted to lose nearly $1,000 for nothing at this point. We decided to proceed with the service since they were unwilling to release us from the contract. - The week of August 8th, we received a phone call from Natalie that the construction team would arrive the following morning to begin the 2 day construction job. - On Thursday, August 9th, the first day that construction was supposed to start, the foreman Donnie showed up without the crew and said they were broke down on the highway and would come back tomorrow (Friday) instead. He said they would still deliver construction materials that day (Thursday) to be stored in our carport while we park in the street. We were also told by Chris during the initial meeting that the job would not go unfinished over a weekend. The job was now planned to go unfinished over a weekend. - On Friday, August 10th, neither Donnie nor the construction crew ever showed up. No show AND no phone call the entire day. Completely unacceptable, no excuses could justify this. We waited all day for someone to show up or call. I called Donnie around 5PM to find out what happened. He said he was running around all day and was trying to get ahold of his crew all day, which he was still not able to do at that time. Donnie apologized profusely and said he would call me first thing Monday morning. I asked him if he would really call this time so that my wife is not waiting around all day wondering if they are coming or not. He reassured me he would call first thing Monday morning. Additionally, we now had to park in the street all weekend since the construction materials were stored in our carport. - On Saturday, August 11th, 3 construction workers showed up unexpectedly at 8AM while we were still in bed. I had to cancel plans for Saturday to stay home all day while they worked. They did not finish the job and said they would either be back the next morning (Sunday) or the following morning (Monday). They did not return on Sunday. - On Monday, August 13th, nobody showed up and Donnie did not call as he had promised. When I called Donnie around 4PM, he said he didn't call because there was some confusion with his crew. - As of Tuesday, August 14th, workers showed up while we were eating dinner at 6PM and Donnie did not call. They were one of 3 contractors I collected bids from. Shortly after that, I received an email response with a coupon for $50 off, and a phone number which I called to set up an appointment for the estimate inspection. Four days later, the owner of the company, Ed Clement, came out and went into my attic. Ed gave me a price to bring my attic up to the "Industry Standard" which is R-49. I asked him to email the estimate, which he did, and it was very reasonable. We set a date for him to do the work on April 25th. Ed knows what he's doing, and completed insulating our 1218 square foot house attic in under an hour. He added 16 inches of insulation. He took several pictures, which he texted me while he was still at our home. Besides, sweeping the little insulation scraps on my garage floor and on the driveway, he removed two pieces of wood that I had left in the attic a few years earlier while I installed a fan in our kitchen. In June we were scheduled again and I had to call and explain that it was just serviced in May, blah, blah, blah. We needed service in early July and not June. They wanted to come again August 1st and I had to explain again they were here in early July and it hadn't been 8 weeks and we need it September 1st. No that's not OK you'll be violating your contract. The best I can do for you is August 31st. OK fine with me that's close enough. I can't be the only person who this has happened to because of the pandemic. Don't treat me like a leper. I am, in fact, spending money with you. Fast forward to the first week of September. We made a household decision that we didn't need our house sprayed every two months and we would be fine with every three months. We called the office and were met with more attitude. No we can't do that. So let me get this straight? I want to pay you to spray my house 4 times a year and you are going to tell me no, you can't do that because we are going from 6 times a year to 4 times a year? Yes, that's correct.
