After running some diagnostics, they discovered that the capacitors had failed. Replaced both of them for about $450, plus $129 diagnostic fee. From start to finish, this took less than an hour. Technician was upfront about the possibility that another component could have failed as well, such as the fan motor, which could incur additional cost, or even replacement of the whole unit. They were able to email me an invoice complete with pictures immediately after the job.

All the quotes were in the same ballpark for the requested work, but Brandon at West County impressed me with his attention to detail and responsiveness during the quote process. West County was the only company that included air sealing (sealing up any gaps in the ceiling around lights, outlets, etc.) as part of the project, something none of the others called out, one of which flat out said they didn't do it). Their crew showed up exactly on time as scheduled. They reviewed the work to be done with me, and they promptly got to work. Afterwards they reviewed what was done and shared with me photos of the work that was done including the attic at the start, all the places that they air sealed, the baffles installed to prevent insulation from spilling into the eaves, the blown in fiberglass insulation, and the Draft Master assembly over the hatch. Ther weren't any issues with anything that was done. I can already see a difference in the temperature swings in my garage since the work was done. I only wish I had done the work earlier. I wholeheartedly recommend West County Insulation for anyone in need of insulation work.

We had an absolutely terrible (and environmentally damaging) experience with Moxie. But they proceeded to fill the grass with pesticides (we caught it at the tail end of the service call, but it was too late). When we reported it and asked to cancel the service, they charged us $299 despite the breach in contract. Plus, who charges $299 to stop a service that already charges per visit?! Moxie is undoubtedly a scam, and I draw the line at any company who willingly kills fireflies and has no remorse for it. UPDATE: Moxie replied below to say that we should call about this issue, but we did call (and emailed) Moxie about it when it happened, and their only response was to send us a cancellation agreement with a $299 bill.
