You can do some thinking in this bookstore. In other words: It's a good used bookstore! Book Nook is one of the older bookstores in Cadillac. They have lots of books, including rare and out-of-print titles. It's not fancy in the least bit, and in fact it's a little overwhelming to visit because there's just so much everywhere all at once. But if you're into organized chaos, you will have fun exploring Book Nook because there is something to see all around the store. My children headed straight for the kids' section. There were lots of books here that sent me straight to the late 1980s and early 1990s when I was a young reader, like the McGurk detective series and Lois Lowry joints. My kids each found a book to take home for pocket change. That's the great thing about used book stores: You can walk away with a treasure for a couple of bucks. Book Nook also has lots of old magazines, those trash paperback romance novels you read on vacation, albums and vinyl records, 25-cent gum-ball machines and more. They have a full range of equipment and prices, from beginner to true audiophile. While they physically just can't offer the wide range of offerings one could find while looking at an online warehouse, they have done a fantastic job of filtering out the "also rans" and selecting the best items at each price level. The items they do offer are very highly rated and reviewed. Items they sell are available on display to see, feel, explore, and HEAR. I knew how things worked, what the capabilities were, what it felt like and what it sounded like. The owners were extremely helpful and patient with me, they were interested that I felt right about my new equipment, and there was no pressure or upsell. They also helped me understand the proper setup and functions of my new stuff. The worry about how I might return something if it wasn't right was gone completely. I was happy and I could take the item home with me that day. The very best part? I PAID LESS! I got hands (and EARS!) on experience, expertise to help me understand the setup and functions of my equipment in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, all at a lower price than I would have had I ordered online.
