I needed work done on my mountain bike. I can do the required work at home but chose to support a local business instead. First indicator something was wrong was lack of communication. I called to hear that I supposedly told them to take their time. Not true, I did say I would like it by the weekend (this was early in the week). I was in Grayling that Saturday so I stopped by (not out of my way). The crew was down at the canoe race festivities. I politely asked on the status of my bike, was told that when the repair guy came back from the festivities, she (Carly) would have him give me a call. Apparently (my assumption), the festivities were not festive. I was accused of being accusational and overly demanding. Anyone who knows me knows I am the extreme opposite of this behavior. I stated that It had been over a week with no communication and I just wanted to know what was taking so long? He asked me "have you ever ordered anything since Covid?" I replied "I cannot believe you're still using Covid as an excuse. Yes, I have ordered many items since Covid and I know and understand the supply chain problems." That call ended with a tongue and cheek apology, that "they" would try to do better with communicating. I was good. I got the simple answer I was looking for. He said they would call me on Monday or Tuesday (8/1/22 or 8/2/22) and give me an update. They (Heather) did call, I missed the call but called back. I identified myself and plainly asked "What was found to be wrong and how much is it going to cost me...I just got back from Niagara Falls and want to make sure you guys get your money." Heather then proceeded to tell me I was arrogant!!!! I tried to diffuse the attitude by simply stating "I am a customer, you guys are doing work for me and I simply would appreciate a cost so you can get paid. I deserve to know what you're doing to my bike and how much it is costing me." She continued to be very rude before talking to the repair guy. She got back on the phone and told me the shocks were not right (they ordered), bearings needed to be replaced. I said "thank you. How much?" Another verbal barrage. I'm getting frustrated by the verbal abuse and began asking firmly "How much is this going to cost me...I need to know...I'm paying for your work." She gave me the amount and I simply said "Thank you...was that so hard?" Heather replied "Do you want your bike done right or half assed?" At this point, I had enough. She said "You know, we have a lot of customers we can be working on." I told her "Reassemble it, I will come pick it up. I don't deserve to be treated this way. You guys can fuck someone else."
She replied "Yup...we will go fuck someone else!!" and hung up on me.
I really wish there were negative stars. Bike has been there for almost 3 weeks. I've been understanding about the canoe thing...but feel someone could have done the small tasks (greasing, bearings, tightening, etc) while waiting on the shocks to arrive...instead of not touching it for 2 weeks. I give credit where credit is due...but there is nothing I can say positive about my experience with Northbound. I will complete all repairs at home...like I should have done in the first place...lower costs and much less hassle. read more
