Reserved the Ski Doo MXZ 800 to ride on 12/19-12/21/2025. When we arrived we were told they didn't my reservation and that they weren't even supposed to be renting any sleds for that day due to the weather they had, this was after several calls through the week to confirm the reservation was still good. They did let me rent but asked to not ride it across terrible trails, which I agreed to do. We took it via trailer to our cabin, which is 20-30 minutes east of Grayling, and unloaded it. I then rode it 1.1 miles to the nearby trail where the secondary clutch proceeded to break (See photos). No harsh riding was done to it, I tried to diagnose the problem on the trail but it was nothing that could be done without a new part. I called True North and sent them pictures before we brought the sled back and when we got it back they refunded the money for the 2 nights I reserved the sled. We then sat and waited two hours at the hotel, that True North is operated through, for their mechanic to come and diagnose the machine so I could get my $500 dollar deposit back. While we we're there the front desk staff and the bar staff were nothing but nice and helpful, even though our mood was soured a bit due to the time we waited. Turns out the main point of contact for the rentals had left and not let anyone know and the mechanic was nowhere to be seen. Two hours with zero answers. The next morning I returned to the hotel to see if anything had been done or if I could have any answers, once again the front desk staff were very helpful with what little info they could give me. I gave the main point of contact a call and was told the mechanic was going to get parts and then was going to run diag on the sled to determine if I cause the damage, after that they would call me. That was the last I heard that day. The next morning we were back at the hotel to drop off another rental and to see if anything was being done. I was told that I would get a call the next morning from the point of contact and possibly from the owner that day. Monday morning, 12/22/25, I received no call so I called and left a voicemail asking for an update. No response. Today, 12/23/25, I called again from a different number and got a response. The person who answered said they were to get in touch with the main point of contact from before and would give me a call 30 minutes later. After 2 hours I called them and got no response. 4 hours after that I called again and left a voicemail asking for any information at all. Still nothing. In summary; if you are looking for a rental place with great customer support, try another business. Had the machine I rented worked, I probably wouldn't have had this issue. Five days of no solid answers, lack of calls when promised, and what seems like being ignored is just not something I would want someone else to deal with.
