Einstein Cycles - Bike and trailer - Bike Rentals Near Me - Traverse City, Michigan

We rented fat tire bikes this past weekend. My partner is an experienced rider and had rented there before. We had trouble with gear shifting on one of the bikes, so it made our 10 mile ride harder and less pleasant than it should have been. When I took the bike back to the store to let them know, I had turned the wheel and the owner said we caused the problem. I explained we did not turn it before the ride. If you notice, any negative review made, there is an excuse or "explanation" by company. read more

Highly recommend this place. We just received super quick tube replacement on a rear 4" x 20" fat tire for our e-bike. Very helpful and friendly staff. read more

I'm so thrilled to have this awesome new Kona bike!! Can't wait to hit the trails!!! They were very helpful and knowledgeable of all the bikes. He showed me all the functions/features. I'm so glad I stopped in. read more

Was in town over the December holidays with seven friends and wanted to rent eight fat tire bikes for a fun ride. I called a few places and no one had enough bikes on short notice. But, Einstein had six...and offered to rent out two of their demo bikes for the day! Awesome!!! We ended up getting 21" of snow that day and couldn't use the bikes how we originally wanted. But, we still had fun. My only issue with Einstein is with their location and lack of delivery/pick up. Some shops with deliver the bikes to you or be located in an area that is more conducive to hitting some of the trails. Again, not a huge deal as we ended up renting a u-haul to haul the bikes around, but still kind of a pain. I'll say that the guys in the shop were great. Super chill. read more

Coolest bike shop in Traverse City. Unique brands you wont find in other shops. Bearclaw, BMC, Cervelo, Kona, Salsa, Surly and Yeti. Great service and selection. read more

Heard many good comments about this shop...my experience was dismal. It focused on ordering replacement parts for my road bike. "Yes, we can do that. Can you make a deposit so I can create a work order?", was the shop clerks response to my request. I paid the full amount for the parts I wanted. "We'll order them Monday and call you when they come in." 3 weeks later no call. Went to the shop and inquired. The clerk who took my order was evasive to my inquiry. I pressed the question, "when was the order placed?" More evasive..."uh, the guy who was suppose to do that is not here...he'll be back later, I can check with him and give you a call...". Really? If the parts were ordered wouldn't that be in your work order record? The clerk, nice guy as he is, finally admitted no parts ordered..."I guess we dropped the ball". I'll say. I asked for my money back. So the rest of the story is I have made purchases from this store...including two bike repairs. So no stranger to them. So here was an opportunity for the store to make it right....they have my name and phone number. If this were my shop and I dropped the ball on a customer I'd be on the phone to the customer asking how we could make it right...my apology...we'll get the parts if you still want them. Nope. Crickets from Einstein. So smart name. Dumb employees. 10.1.17 Received note from owner apologizing. Offered me $20 discount on my next order. That was nice. However, owner missed the point. What I am looking for is trustworthy service. Not 20 bucks. Owner did not offer following through on the special order and making it right. Fail. read more

This place is the best of old fashioned service with new fashioned knowledge and selection. They treat everyone so well and seem to still celebrate the fun and mechanics that cycling can be. I came here from out of town to get a bicycle tuned up and they were so kind and efficient. Very impressed. read more

Awesome bike shop! I had rode my bike to the coffee shop next door and just stopped in to Einstein to maybe look at some new seats. They gave me excellent recommendations and even put the different seats on my bike for me to test in the parking lot. While I was there, I wanted to see if my handlebars could be raised but they were already to the max, so a quick look in the back for a new part and they installed a new handlebar adjuster on my bike! Price for my seat was actually the same as Amazon but it ended up being a waaaay better deal since they installed everything for me! Can't wait to ride my bike again! read more

The best! Dan and Team not only got a hard-to-find bike from Michigan to Wyoming in less than a week and also sent a full package of gear so we can rep Ec in the Tetons! read more

Our family was vacationing in TC. We visited Ec for rentals and found they had a great selection including a bike cart (Burley), tag alongs, kids bikes, and tandems. Our 5 year old loved the tag along as she felt like she was biking as well, but she wouldn't have made it the whole way on her own. The guys here were very friendly and accommodating. read more

First time customer. He went above and beyond and helped me in a pinch. Needed a part for my wife's old Trek 7200. Really saved me a lot of hassle. I will definitely be back. Thank you! read more

Awesome place- with awesome guys working there. We called in the morning and a super nice guy Cody answered the phone and talked for a while about the different bikes they sell. They rent and sell bikes and equipment with lots of options. We decided to go and have a look and the owner Jason helped me pick out an amazing mountain bike and really went thru the effort to fit me with the right seat and gear- really paying attention to detail. My husband had an older bike another guy helped with- checked it all over and took care of the chain for him. You can tell everyone has fun working there and the people who come in are return customers who they know. Highly recommend! read more

Roadie/Gravel rider from California. This place is legit. I spend a few weeks in TC every summer and just found Einstein. I bought one of their sweet limited edition kits and got some beta on local gravel grinding. I don't want to take anything away from TC's other great bike shops, but I think I've found my place. read more

Great experience at Einstein Cycle. Needed new drive train overnight. Jason the owner fixed this and more. Relatively new store but the service couldn't be better. Hope this store succeeds. read more

Nice guys, they let us in a little early because we foolishly didn't look at the hours and arrived 30 minutes before they opened. Got a couple cruisers to ride into town. Also good coffee next door! read more

Jason and all the staff at Einstein could not be more friendly and helpful. They have a large inventory of bikes and accessories from the high end full carbon road racing bikes to your trusty town cruiser. They also have a well maintained and expansive bike rental fleet including small child trailers and add-ons. I could not be more impressed. read more

This place is incredible. I was vacationing and needed new speedplay cleats. Not only did they sell me a pair but they were kind enough to fit them for me for free even though I hadn't bought the bike or the pedals from them. Every person I met was nice and Jason spent a ton of time getting everything right. I will be sure to go back if I'm ever in need of help in the future. read more

Solid shop, nice guys, incredibly helpful. Turned around a quick repair for me while traveling on my tandem. A little pricey, but the repair was done right. read more

These guys rock! We were in town for a quick mini-moon and just wanted to rent bikes for the day. Super easy - we were on our way within 10 minutes and had a whole day to explore TC on bikes. While we waited we had a really fun conversation with the shop guys too. You can tell the place is run by really nice guys who really know their stuff about bikes. read more

Bikes have the capacity to be awesome vehicles of fun and adventure or an annoying reminder that you are not as smart or athletic as you think you are. Thanks to Einstein Cycles, I think I'll be able to avoid the latter category entirely! We're vacationing in TC and ate a delicious breakfast at the Breakaway cafe next door. We've thought about getting bikes for the last couple years but spouse and self are rather older (mid to late 50's), rather doughy folk who aren't looking to set speed or distance records. We went into EC to get info, we got a TON of info. We also got fantastic customer service and great deals on two bikes for cruising around our hometown in SW Michigan. Hadn't planned to buy but we were clearly in the right place to get what we needed. Their selection covers a wide range of abilities and needs but always with quality options. I don't imagine any bike they sell would be considered anything less than an intelligent choice. Staff answered every question and there was no attitude except one of genuine concern. So, now we have just the excuse we need to come back to TC every year! Annual bike tune-ups. read more
