Did you know Roto-Rooters has a FREE Pet Rescue Service? I didn't know that until today! Our cat, Loki, had the bright idea to JUMP off our 2nd story balcony and run off. My partner and I have been worried sick, went out looking for him day and night, put of fliers. Everything. THEN WE FOUND LOKI! However, that wasn't as easy as it sounds. It turned out he was hiding in a storm drain pipe about 50 ft from our porch. We had already check there several times, but this time when we shined the flash light down there, we saw the flash of eyes before he disappeared further down the pipe where we couldn't see him. A good lesson to keep checking places you've already checked! The pipe was too small for a human to fit, and we had no idea how to get him out. Everything we could think of (calling for him, food, treats, laser points, etc) had no effect. Turns out Roto-Rooters are the hero today! They sent Jason C. out to us in under an hour on a Saturday. Jason C didn't have a long enough camera, so they called in Farnood on his day off and he came out to help too! With his 200 ft long camera, we were able to find Loki in the drain, and herd him most of the way out. Unfortunately, right at the end, there was a hump the camera couldn't get over, and we couldn't get Loki out the last 5 ft. In the end, Roto-Rooters called in a third tech, Kenny, with a pressure hose, and with low pressure we were able to send water down the pipe to gently encourage Loki into the cat carrier we had at the end. By the time we got him in the crate, there were 7 of use (me, my partner, 3 guys from Roto-Rooters, and 2 Everett police officers) helping out. After being lost for 48 hrs, he is now safely home! I don't know that I've ever been so impressed with a free service and the lengths they went to help us reunite with Loki. Today has been a happy day! read more

Our upstairs bathroom flooded into the adjacent bedroom and down into the kitchen. In a panic, called the first place I could think of - unfortunately it was Roto-rooter. I told them the issue and they first sent the wrong type of technician, so had to send another. Once informed we would have to remove the flooring and ceiling to allow the water to dry, they moved quickly! The problems then started. When they came out, they literally just started ripping things out. The bathroom vanity (which was not damaged), they ripped out of the wall making it nearly unsalvageable (luckily we are fairly handy so we were able to make it work). Since we have three bathrooms with the same vanity, we wanted to keep them the same. If we were not able to salvage it, we would have either had one bathroom different than the other two or would need to replace the vanities in the other two to keep the aesthetic. When I asked why they ripped it out when it was perfectly fine, the response was "insurance will replace it, we aren't there to uninstall things, we are there to demolish to get to the water issue." In the kitchen, when tearing out the floor they damaged the dishwasher. When I reached out about the dishwasher they asked me to send images to assess the damage and would get back to me. After two months of follow up - they never responded. When we were billed, we were charged for additional fans and a generator that they left in our garage, unused. When I asked why they were there, they said "in case they are needed." I will never use them again. Please make sure you do your research, even in a panic. read more

I wish I could leave a review about their actual services but sadly we didn't get that far. I had an appointment scheduled for yesterday between 8am and noon, when no one came I called to confirm they still had me on the schedule. They said yes, they were just running behind and they would call me when someone was headed my way. By 5pm they called and apologized and offered to come the following morning (today) between 8 and noon, and offered me $50 off services. It was frustrating that I spent the whole day waiting, but I decided to try again. Unsurprisingly, I don't hear anything within my window again. I get a call at 2pm saying they are about 30 minutes away. An hour and a half later I STILL don't have anyone here so I just called to cancel. I wasted two days on this when I could have just given my business to a company that actually values my time and wants to take my money. Don't waste your time on these guys. What a joke. read more

appt was set for by 11:am....at 10 am called to tell me he was hung up on a double install of water heaters in Renton. By 1 I had received another call saying he was still hung up n that he was the only one in my area n as soon as he could get there he would......15 min later a well dressed man ...pressed shirt nice pants ...arrived ...he said he was the plumber...went and turned the valve on and off....water still running ...turned and asked me...what is the problem. Ummm the tub is not suppose to keep running a steady flow water ...when it has been turned off. He then proceeded to tell me ...would need to cut a hole in the shower wall and would give me a estimate. First problem this older lady is no dummy... I already know it just needs a new rubber seal with in the insert. Which is in the handle.....5 min job if u know what ur doing n no cutting is involved ...only 4 screws n a clip! Rotor rooter gave me a estimate of about $1500 to 3 grand n then would new a new tub wall put in!!! I asked u did not check the valve.....he acted surprised..i would ask that....i told him to step outside while I called rotor rooter to file a complaint....he quickly drove off! This guy ..im pretty sure was a salesman...or maybe just a scammer. Called rotor rooter back n was told...she sees no problem n can send out another plumber....i declined Rip off crew... got valve insert replaced By a honest plumber...who came dressed in work clothes! Had an appt set for 2pm-6pm in Lake Stevens. At 5:30p I called and was told plumber was in Bellevue. Would let me know when they were on their way. Called again at 6:45pm was told plumber was in Seattle and was 50 minutes out (7:45pm for a 2-6pm window). I cancelled and will not do business with a company that has me waiting over half my business day waiting on them. The windows are way too big. I was never going to be the 2pm, 3pm or even 4pm customer. The appropriate window would have been 5p-8pm and I could have made a better decision on who to go with. I cant help but think they know this and are trying to gobble up as much business as possible even if they piss off their evening customers. Im not the one. read more

Avoid going with this company. They charge an absurd rate and are NOT available for urgent needs. Our water heater tank broke and we had water running all over the garage on Sunday early afternoon. We called, they could only come on Monday. They charged $2,769.67 to replace the water heater for one similar, nothing special. Just for the labor they charged $1,750.00 for service that only took 2 and half hours to complete ($700.00/hour labor )... the water heater they installed doesn't run enough hot water... what a rip off!!! After I placed this review here I was contacted by Pat. I then got a call from Mike Oliver. He had a bunch of excuses but agreed to adjust the labor charge. He sent a reimbursement of $493.23. I'm not sure how he came out with this reimbursement amount, but that still makes their labor charge $502.70/hour (I don't know anyone who makes that much in this type of business ). After I got contacted by Pat as a response to my original review below, I received a call from the managerial team. We had a good conversation about my complaints and a price adjustment was made based on the fact that the initial price wasn't fully correct. I still feel the charges were high for what was done, but I am adjusting my score to 3-stars as they clearly do want to listen to and learn from complaints. ORIGINAL REVIEW: As mentioned in other reviews, avoid this company if you can. Their prices are absurd and we only used them as we had multiple shut-off valves leaking and needed someone fast. We ended up paying over $1000 to replace 4 valves, one of which they had to come back for a second time as it was still leaking. Definitely look elsewhere, we feel taken advantage of with their prices. read more

I called for emergency repair on my hot water heater and was told it would be 30 minutes to four hours until the tech could arrive. I called back at the four hour mark and was told they could not get a hold of the technician and he was not answering their phone calls to him. They had no other explanation for why they were not able to get a hold of him. The only other explanation I was told was that the last time they couldn't get a hold of the technician on the phone, that technician was involved had been involved in a car accident. My reply to that was, "are you seriously telling me that's why you haven't called me back to let me know that nobody was coming? Because one of your technicians got in a car accident years ago?" Thanks for wasting five hours and I could've called multiple other plumbers. I'm sure I was calling a national call center but come on. Stick with local plumbers and not national chains. read more

We called an emergency plumbing line on the 4th of July for a clogged pipe that turned into a broken, leaking pipe hoping to get someone out the following day, was told they'd be here the next morning, but it turns out the guy that takes care of our area called in sick. But they could come out the day after that in the afternoon sometime after 3. I cancelled an appointment to make sure someone was at home. And they never showed. Then we were told (after calling, not after being called) that they would be out today, between 8-10am. Again, no one showed up, my husband finally got a call saying they could be out here this afternoon and he just cancelled at that point. They were an absolute waste of time. read more

Was not able to give me a quote until they were at the house. They charged me $241 for 10 minutes of work. That is the cheapest option they had. I usually use White Knight Plumbing because of their fees but they could not get out to my house for a couple of weeks. Will not be using these guys again. read more

I'm really trying to be understanding right now, but I am absolutely blown away by their level of professionalism (or lack thereof). I called yesterday to make an appointment for a possible main line cleaning. I was asked if I preferred to have a call or a text message when the technician was 30 minutes out. I told them to please text me. I also gave them my husband number as a backup. I explained that I would be juggling an infant and a toddler and that was the baby's nap-time and I may be nursing. AT NO POINT during this conversation was I informed my technician would be sent away if I did not respond. I missed a call at 8:09 this morning while I was nursing. I called back at 8:19. I was told that since I did not answer their phone call that the technician was routed elsewhere. I asked them why this was not discussed yesterday. The gentleman had no answers. I asked them why they didn't text me or my husband. Again, no answers. In the calmest voice possible (as calm as could be managed for a sleep deprived mother who just really needs to find a decent plumber that can show up, asses the problem and not leave garbage all over my house) I told the dispatcher that he could go ahead and cancel our appointment. No apology. No "sorry for the confusion". Just a wasted morning sitting around. What on earth. read more

I don't really understand why they charged me $625 for 10 minutes work. Just to be fair for 40 minutes work because he has driven maximum of 30 minutes to get here. Their flat rate is too expensive ($470) and I was charged double price for part he uses which is $100 for $48.46 Posi-Temp Pressure Balanced Shower Cartridge at home depot. I have asked why it is too expensive it is because he wishes to mark the price that way. But, let's say if he doesn't have the part with him and if he needs to go and get that parts for me, he would charge me $100 per hour. The bottom line is they know that you are not going to fix it and you really need that thing to be fixed. So, they ask whatever the price they want. he could charge me for an hour work which is less than the flat rate but...Don't foul by their rating. They are merciless. I called on Sunday for a clogged toilet but they weren't able to get a service person out until Monday at 10am. I called 6 other pluming services and it was the same or later in the week. Monday morning I got a call at 8am with information that a service technician was about a 1/2 hour out. Early! Yay! Our technician was Vlad. He was on time, professional and cleaned up...didn't leave any drips and wiped down his equipment before he walked down stairs. read more

Wanted $409 to snake a drain in my bathroom!!! Would not disclose price range over the phone, so I had to waste time on an appointment to find out they are price gouging. I was able to call around and on the fourth call found a local great plumber who came out immediately and charged $250 to both attend to the clog AND install my kitchen sink faucet for me. read more

Then the next day they left a voicemail 2 hours before the appointment window without leaving a phone number to use. We called the number from caller ID, who forwarded us to dispatch who just said they were running late. Narcis was able to get our toilet clog cleared extremely fast. He was very kind, and showed up on time ready to work. He removed the toilet, snaked the drain and found our clog about 70ft down the line. Cleared it out for us, then ran a camera to check the lines to see if there were any other obstructions. Completely cleaned up after himself, reset the toilet on the floor and cleanly caulked the area. We are very happy they were able to do this before our business even opened. We had the worse experience with this company. 3 different appointments with 4 hour windows and they never showed up or even called. When they finally came out they gave us an astronomical price without even knowing where the leak was or what parts they would need to do the work. The young man (plumber) gave me a bill for $8,020.00, 14 man hours and over $2,300 in parts and he hadn't even begun to find the problem. I felt like I was at a used car lot and he was trying to sell me a car I didn't want. I have worked in the constuction field for over 20 years and would never hire someone who gives you a price without knowing what the actual problem is. I would love to send them a bill for the 12 hours or more they wasted of ours. I hope other people pay attention to what they say before they sign anything. They wanted us to pay up front and we will see you tomorrow....Not a chance, ever! read more

I called Roto Rooter to come out, and fix my the hose connection under my kitchen window.... Michael came out and quoted $2500. to crawl under my house to fix my faucet outside. He said they would need another man to be there with him, and that OSHA had regulation for gas and other leaks.... No gas at this address.... Michael was lazy, and you could tell he was not a big fan of working. I've used this company many times. I was told a in charge person would call me back, but no one did.... very poor service. read more

I was referred to Roto-Rooter by my real estate agent for a sewer inspection prior to closing on a home. While this isn't something most people do (most just get a standard inspection and skip the sewer), I am glad I decided to go with these guys. The inspection was extremely thorough and sure enough they found a crack in the pipe which would have been missed had I not opted for the sewer inspection. The crew was VERY professional and did great work. Should I ever have such issues in the future I know I will go through Roto-Rooter and I suggest you do the same! read more

I normally use locally small family owned business but decided to try roto rooter today. The guy was early which was nice but smelt of cigarettes. I made sure to inform the company of what most likely needed to be fixed. However, when he showed up he didn't even have the parts with him or in his vehicle. For literally 5 mins of work he charged 300+ which to me was wayyyy steep. I definitely will be looking for another plumbing company. Thanks for the work it was pretty clear it's a In and out type of business. If there was a no star rating this company earned it. The company only gives a 4 hour window for appointments. Ok understood. However they don't even come close to it! After receiving a call that "we were next"......they called 4 hours later to say they were behind but hoped to get there soon. Called them and they sent a guy that identified the problem and scheduled an appt. later in the week. When the guy showed up to do the work (old guy with a really negative attitude) the first thing he said was " I have not idea what your problem is - I wasn't given any information before I got here." He said it with a tone like he was upset with me about it! Then I showed him the problem and he started complaining about the problem and how he found additional things wrong with my plumbing. Pretty much just a negative rant about all the things that were wrong with my plumbing. Then he called his boss and they had a conversation again about everything that was wrong with my plumbing. He ended his visit by saying he couldn't help me. Definitely do not recommend these guys unless you want a cranky old guy that will cherry pick deals and talk his way out of the difficult ones and make you feel really bad. read more

Mike arrived very quickly after I called and was very professional. He diagnosed the problem right away and recommended a new toilet and water valve to prevent future problems. He went to get the new toilet, replaced it and the valve very quickly and just like that my downstairs toilet was back in business!
