Not my typical area for this type of food so I was curious to try. It's Guyanese cuisine and wanted to try Pepper Pot their signature dishe but sasadly they were out. It was near closing time. I opted for some other Caribbean dishes and did take out. They still has a decent selection and amount of food to pick from. We got the Peas and Rice and Boneless Jerk Chicken. The boneless chchicken was my hubby's idea, I prefer bone in and already had my reservations about the flavor difference but I obliged. We got Doubles with Tamarind Sauce and Aloo Pie with Chickpeas. Both the lady at the counter and the cashier were very welcoming and friendly. They were quite engaging with several customers who walked in while we were there. I could tell this was a place where they had regulars from the conversations. She was equally happy to chat with us new comers. She even gave me a small package of Milo cookies when I saw a bigger box and commented that I always wanted to try them but didn't want to get the bug box without knowing if I'd like them. She told me I'd love it and I'd be back for more. I did. Got home and food was still warm. I was really impressed with the jerk chicken. I know it was oven prepared and not in the outdoor smoker but it was well seasoned and despite my preconceived notions about it being boneless it was very good. The doubles were good I really enjoyed the tamarind sauce. The Aloo pie was large by standards of all the other places we go to. It was also generously stuffed with chickpeas. I'd have to say I'd return. I want tobtry the Roti and of course - Pepper Pot. The have a few tables with chairs if you want to stay and enjoy. The restaurant was clean and stocked with traditional West Indian treats and drinks . The J train stop to Norwood is right in front/above the restaurant.

Stickers on the vegetables, and some plastic substance.

I have been having so much patience with them, but if I don't say anything they'll never get better. Today I find tomato stickers in my meal along with some plastic like substance. Their doubles are the emptiest I've ever seen. This is the 5th + order and 5th + discrepancy. This place is not for me.

I was in here right before lunch to pick up some meat for my dinner. I was glad they had jerk chicken legs because that was my first choice for dinner. Fir the first time in a while there was no one ahead of me when I came in. I asked for one jerk chicken leg. I was asked if I wanted anything else. I declined. I also noticed they had plenty of fresh Guyanese pastries in their display case. The jerk chicken was coated in wonderfully complex hot and spicy blend. When I ate it, it was definitely hot. There was s nice char but not burnt. The meat was juicy and tender.

I went for Roti & the had none, so I was given other options for a meat and rice. The server put her sleeve in the plate. I had to ask for a new plate of rice. All of the items looked dry, but I thought, hey let me give them a chance. I SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT!!! There wasn't variety, I just chose curried chicken & curried beef with rice and doubles. NO ROTI??? Roti is in the name of the restaurant!!! *Mind blown* Tip: PAY WITH CASH!!! I swiped my card & the woman told me to swipe again because the payment didn't go through. I only chose no receipt & she was thrown off! I told her let me check my account before I swipe again. I showed her from my bank app the payment went through. She didn't want to give me the food. Anyway, I eventually got the food & didn't have to pay another $22. I got to the car & the food was cold!! Not lukewarm. COLDDD!! The takeaway is stick with the best, Singh's will always be the best.

They deliver now thank the lord! The oxtail here is my favorite, very generous for the price.

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

What's to cheer - Nice not to too sweet homemade rum punch - Solid, flavorful oxtail. Very island spiced and cooked well - Goat was also really strong - Reasonable prices - service with personality What's to jeer - they were out of the jerk chicken unfortunately which I really wanted to try - place is pretty low key and not swimming with ambience

I discovered Kokomo because I knew I wanted our wedding celebration to be in Williamsburg -- a neighborhood that holds so many memories for me growing up in the Bronx and exploring the city as a kid. We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence. I truly cannot imagine our wedding without Kokomo, and I'm so grateful they were part of our story. : @lensofher

A few of the veggies were slightly overcooked, but still flavorful and enjoyable. The drinks looked incredible, but I went with the rum punch and loved it. It was a little sweet, but super flavorful, strong, and definitely worth ordering again. For dessert, I had the Hennessy cheesecake, which was rich, decadent, and unbelievably delicious. There were three of us dining, and we all left completely satisfied -- with take-home containers because the portions are VERY generous. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that our server seemed to focus most of her attention on my friend. She is Jamaican, and because I look like a white American woman, I felt a little overlooked at times, even when I had several requests myself. We also had to look for her a couple of times while she was sitting with a group nearby. That said, everyone overall was very nice and welcoming. He had been to the restaurant a few times - and had good things to say. We were not disappointed. I had the Brown Stew Red Snapper - *chef's kiss*. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! (I couldn't help but clean my plate - I was obsessed with the fish!) Our friend enjoyed the Hennessy Fried Shrimp (not pictured) - one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. It looked delicious as well. For drinks, I had the Bob Marley cocktail. A colorful drink - flavorful - and effective! There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Brooklyn!
