We came here to get takeout about 40 minutes before they closed tonight. Roti is a Chipotle-style concept where you build your bowl, salad or pita from the toppings and sauces available. I like the Mediterranean-ish approach, though it's far from authentic. But it's fast and easy and, when done well, is a good option that's nearby and open a little later. The restaurant itself was empty when we arrived, as a woman had just left with her own takeout order. I was surprised to see someone sitting on the counter in the food prep area with his shoes on the counter. I don't know if he was an employee - he was playing on his phone and never acknowledged us while we were being helped. He wasn't wearing anything Roti branded either. Still, inappropriate and honestly strange. Neither of the two employees working suggested he get off the counter so this appears to be accepted behavior. Should we have left? Probably. But we just got home after a long drive and needed something to eat. Our food was okay. It wasn't fresh and was lukewarm but at the end of the day, we sort of expected that. The pitas were stale - pita shouldn't be hard. Food temperature aside, it was flavorful and the portions were generous. I felt like I was being rushed through the process as the employee kept asking "What else?" as I was reading the labels and making decisions. Overall, not my first choice tonight or in the future. I'm not sure if there was a manager there but, if so, that doesn't bode well for the cleanliness and standards of this place. Update: I had a very positive interaction with Alexy at Roti's customer service. They agreed the entire situation was strange (sometimes you just need someone to confirm that, right?) and provided a refund on our meals. They're also escalating the situation. It will probably be awhile before I consider coming back to this location but I'm not writing off all Roti locations, especially after a warm and quick effort to repair an odd situation.

Can I give six stars? Years ago I wasn't impressed with Roti's menu and stopped eating there. I decided to give them a second chance about a year ago, I'm so glad I did. Roti serves fresh, flavorful, satisfying Mediterranean food. I especially love the cauliflower rice option and the garbanzo bean salad, which makes every bowl and sandwich delicious. Also worth trying are their grilled veggies. During my last visit, my server was especially attentive and engaging. Little did I know that I was talking to Roti's culinary director, Layla. She is responsible for the menu in all of their restaurants. Bursting with energy and enthusiasm, she educated me on their chicken (farm raised and organic!) and where they drew inspiration for their menu. She accompanies the CEO on a trip to Jerusalem every year to immerse themselves in Middle Eastern food. She even showed me pictures of the food and restaurants at which they ate. Now I understand why their food is so good: it's authentic, high quality, and inspired by a love of great food.

Had a 2 for 1 coupon, sad to say my husband's not a fan. With my daughter in town I actually had opportunity to use 2 for 1...she IS a fan! Extremely conflicted about my review. First of all, of course there's the 2 for 1 deal which can't be bad (unless food and service was terrible). Then there are the employees - so very seriously nice! The food, I hadn't been here in a long time, was even better than I remembered it to be. The mix of Mediterranean flavors is awesome. The food and toppings are displayed nicely and I like that you tell them what you want from the "buffet of base, protein, and toppings " and they add it. One can pick from salad, rice bowl, cauliflower rice bowl (up charge of $2) or pita. Also, the pita which is now pre-wrapped is so good. Finally, it was packed nicely "to-go" and included forks and napkins. Here's the good/bad: my daughter had her bowl made. Then suddenly, one of the extremely nice employees said, "I'm remaking your bowl, I saw something that I didn't like the looks of in your original bowl." At least that is what we think she said, so hard to tell with masks on. The good is that she was remaking the bowl, the bad is that we don't know if she saw a cockroach or just wilted lettuce, something worse, or something innocuous. Also bad, was the condition of the bathroom...not horrible but could use a little more attention.

We really enjoy Roti for the ability to build your own bowl and get just what you want! We appreciate this especially bc my kiddos have celiac (wheat allergy). My daughter built her bowl and the last step was sauces - she wanted to try the avocado tahini. Ok, so odd - the regular tahini is gluten free but not the avocado tahini. I forgot to check to make sure it was gluten free before they poured it. They were very gracious and made my kiddo a new bowl. Everything was super fresh and really tasty. It is a bit pricey, but still a nice option.

Food is ok , if you come from Mediterranean origin, don't try the Harissa chicken, it doesn't taste like harissa and the spices is wrong on that sauce , if you have to eat there original checking smelled good.

Back of the house to front of the house, I've not only dined at Roti, I have worked at Roti, between 3 stores full time, no less. They got me out here eating raising in my salad part of my build my own, and as a super picky eater, I applaud them for this. Big Shout Out to Chef McGrath, she carried the tradition of fresh from scratch from our family table to yours, she trained me and we opened the Vernon Hills store as one big Roti Family back in the day and I believe thanks to her and the hands on corporate that truly gives a darn about this venture we call YUM this company will thrive like bitcoin.

Within minutes, the restaurant was completely packed, both indoors and outdoors.  There were guests waiting to be seated throughout the evening. If you visit on a busy night like this one, be prepared to allow longer time for the food to come to the table. I could see that some of the dishes were ready on the kitchen counter waiting to be delivered to the tables, but they seemed to be a bit short-handed, especially for the tables in the patio. Our server took our order at 7:10 pm, and it took 24 minutes for our food to come out at 7:36 pm. It was fine as we were not in a hurry. The décor of Blowfish is modern and comfortable.  Our server, Bu, was friendly, cheerful, efficient, and professional.  Both my husband and I ordered a Hot Green Tea ($2 x 2).  I ordered a Sakura Roll ($17), with crab mix, jalapeño, avocado, seared white tuna, white truffle oil, wasabi mayo, sweet soy sauce, and scallions.  It was beautifully presented and packed with flavors.  There were 9 pieces and I shared 1 with my husband who also liked it.  I ate some of the pieces whole and dissembled some of them, each of the ingredients was fresh and tasty, together they created complex flavors that didn't need any other sauces or wasabi.  It's a great choice that I'd happily order it again. My husband had a Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($18), with silky tonkotsu broth, pork chashu, kikurage, nitamago, scallions, corn, spinach, roasted seaweed, sesame, and black garlic oil.  The bowl of ramen looked attractive.  I asked him how it tasted; he said that it was one of the best bowls of ramen he's ever had!  Wow! That's high praise coming from him, I don't think I've ever heard him saying that before!  He said that there's a nice kick even though it was not noted on the menu.  I am intrigued and will definitely try it in our future visits. He also ordered 2 pieces of sashimi -- Hamachi/yellowtail ($8).  There seemed to be a misunderstanding, and two orders of sashimi were entered instead of one.  Since the sashimi portions were fairly small, he didn't bring it up to the server, he just happily ate them and paid the bill for 2 orders ($8 x 2).  The sashimi was fresh. We also ordered a Dragon Roll ($16) to go, that had shrimp tempura, BBQ eel, avocado, and cucumber.  It was also very good. Overall, we were delighted to discover Blowfish. Between the welcoming service, fresh, flavorful food, and comfortable atmosphere, it was an excellent dining experience. We'll definitely be back.

There's lots of exciting food options on the route, and I did question myself on if this was worth the effort... it was. Small place, but that just fine. The first thing I noticed as I walked in was the smell, oh what a fabulous scent! Meat and complex spices. No other nonsense, no air freshener, no cleaning supply smell, no candles, just the smell of exactly what your here for. The cones of meat are spinning right in front of you behind the counter. What a beautiful sight. I ordered the lunch special #1. It comes with chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, kefta kabob, rice, salad, pita, and a falafel. Less than 12 bucks! Available from 12 to 3 pm, this is a great value. I'll get the negative out of the way here, I didn't care for the chicken kabob. It just felt over done, but good flavor. Also, the pita was a very generic and dry pita. Likely store bought. Not a huge deal but if pita is in your name I expect a decent one. The shawarma was spot on perfect. I've had my fair share of shawarma at this point and I'd put this up near the top, especially on the local scene. The kefta was my favorite part of the plate, the spices really show up and stand out. Perfect cook as well. The rice was nice with some citrus flavor that balanced the plate out. The salad was very basic but tasted fresh. A special mention for their spicy red sauce. THIS. This is the red sauce I always want but no one does it this well. Just the perfect heat level, at the very tip of my tolerance, with plenty of flavor to back up the spice. This is the best red sauce I think I've had period. I usually love the white sauce but catch me here sweating with a smile on my face and red sauce on everything.
