So my friend and I went in on Monday to get a mani pedi. She got regular polish on hands and feet, I did regular polish on pedicure and sns manicure. Normally I'm very hesitant to go to anyone that isn't my regular tech, but we wanted a girls day and this place was close by, and another friend said she gets her pedicure there and they do a good job for her. On walking in, they were still doing opening tasks and it was clear to us that we were there before they were ready. We waited for someone to address us, and once we checked in a young tech took my friend back to her pedicure station while I was left standing there waiting for any tech to take me, as I was new I didn't know who was who. She had me sit in the chair first, then asked what color polish so I had to get back up and pick one out. Upon first look, they have a lot of colors, but on closer inspection they all looked watery, unblended, somewhat chunky in some bottles and very dusty. I grabbed the palest pink that looked fresh and not clumpy, and hoped for the best. The pedicure station was clean upon starting, but the tech I was with was constantly looking for tools and base or top coat, which she was sharing with the other tech!!!! No sanitation of tools, tools being shared by the other tech, and to top it off she spent maybe 10 mins on my pedicure which meant- no nice, relaxing massage (which is honestly one of the biggest reasons I get my pedicures done), no lotion on my feet, and she didn't even take the toe separators out when I left, or check if it was even dry. The best (actually the worst) part was that I didn't have anything on my nails, and she didn't do all the proper dehydration and prep steps before starting the dip process. She cut only some of my cuticles and left the other ones just pushed.. which after 3 months of no manicures, I had a lot of cuticle to cut.. now it's been two days and about 4 nails have cracks on the corners. My nails are so short that there shouldn't be any cracking or chipping? I've only been doing computer work so I have no idea how this could happen, which means the tech didn't properly dehydrate the nail and apply the base coat evenly on my nail plate. I spent $35 on the sns manicure and $30 on the pedicure, and tipped her on top of that which looking back I have mixed feelings, on one hand she came to work and after months of being closed everyone in this industry (I'm a hair stylist) I can understand the need for income, but I cannot believe the lack of quality in the service! Neither techs spoke to us during our service, and whenever we asked a question about how they were doing or how long they've been back open, we got no answers but they would talk across the space to each other in spanish. The whole thing just felt so off, I won't ever be coming back here. They didn't even have the air on! I felt so bad for the tech that was pregnant, I can't imagine how uncomfortable it is to work without any air circulation while you're growing a human being, let alone with it being nearly 100 degrees outside! My friend wanted to go in to get our manicures fixed but in no way do I want anyone in that space to touch my nails after this experience. I hope they see this as a chance to improve not only on their techs education in the proper procedures, but also as a chance to properly sanitize and accrue enough tools that the techs don't have to share. In this day and age, the safer and cleaner the better, and I definitely was not comfortable with the tech sharing tools, and not even speaking to me during the service. read more
