I recently had an upsetting experience with Rossi Tire & Auto Services where the customer service fell far below my expectations. This was very disappointing as I had patronized them in the past and had a great experience. The interaction I had with the technician on August 29, 2024 was unkind and I felt it was due to my race and gender. I inquired about a service and was told I would have to leave my car. I asked how long it may take he said at least until noon. I asked could I wait and he said no he has two people waiting for the same service but the gentleman said he was waiting for a tire repair. I was confused as to why I couldn't wait as there was enough space. What was upsetting was how he communicated that to me, it felt like he was talking down to me. When I asked why was he speaking to me like that, he denied speaking indifferently. He got the owner who supported him but also said he would need to keep my car until tomorrow. They could of have been a little nicer and not hostile in their response and offered other options. Overall, this experience left me very disappointed, and I would hesitate to recommend this company based on this interaction. read more

Flashback ..... many many many many many years ago I was having the absolute worse day ever. It was super hot. I was VERY pregnant. I was super emotional and I just wanted to go home and cry into my pillow. As I'm driving, a car pulls up beside me and the driver tells me "ma'am your tire is flat." As if my day couldn't get any worse, I pulled into the nearest auto repair, Rossi's Tire and Service, wiped my tears as best I could and prayed I could afford however much this was going to cost. Everyone treated me so kindly at Rossi's. They sat me in a comfortable chair in an air conditioned space and offered me beverages and snacks. There was an older gentleman sitting inside with me, he was obviously affiliated with the business, he reassured me everything was going to be ok ... and it was something about him that made me believe him. I started to smile, he asked me about the baby and before I knew it I felt like I was talking to a friend then the door opened and the mechanic told me my car was ready. The older guy smiled at me as I walked out the door, told me to have a great day and to bring the baby to see him one day. I went to the car and the mechanic said "unfortunately we were unable to repair the tire, it had to be replaced." I'm silently praying ... please Lord let me have the funds to pay for this. The mechanic looked at me and said "have a great day ma'am, this one is on us." I couldn't believe it. I wanted to hug him but not only would that be inappropriate, my huge belly would have prevented that. For a business to treat a perfect stranger so kindly .... words cannot express my gratitude. Rossi's serviced my vehicles for many years after that, until I moved from the area and I never had a complaint. For those that are wondering nooooooo I never saw the older gentleman again, he never had the opportunity to meet the baby. read more

These guys are hacks. Every time I have come here for an issue they never have a mechanic available right away to speak to or road test and I'm told to drop off my keys and wait. I brought an car here I was selling that had been sitting for about 6 months while I was traveling. It clearly visibly and audibly needed brake work and was borderline unsafe to drive any long distance or high speed. I was told that it needed new brakes, rotors, pad and possibly calipers. Fine, okay. But I was told the car was bottoming out and needed new struts. I was also told the engine mounts were stripped and the engine was jumping or rattling around in the car. That the car was bottoming out and needed new struts. And I was told I would need new tires amongst countless other things. They also couldn't get the hood open and refused to put it up on a lift. Not only did they quote me an extremely rough estimate of $3000, they refused to preform any work. they didn't want the job they couldn't fit it in or handle it. Took it to another garage for a safety and pa state inspection and thorough test drive and they found that yes I needed only new brakes and rotors. Not calipers. In actuality the engine mounts were loose but fine not broken. The struts were making noise internally somewhere but they're not loose or bottoming our they're not leaking, and after a bounce and osscilation test but it's not a safety issue it's just noise. I took it to an TIRE PLACE and they said the tires are good the tread is good so you won't have to replace them any time soon. So rossi gave me a huge laundry list of things that aren't even an issue and didn't want my business. Thumbs down! read more

I have lived in Philly for 15 years. Among all the car shops where I had repairs done, I would like to rate Rossi's Tire & Service the very best in terms of their business ethics and honesty. Unlike most other stores, they tried to do more than what was needed and left you with a painful, unexpectedly high-priced bill that was often beyond my budget; Rossi's only does what is necessary. I own a 15-year-old Lexus IS 250. It only has a mileage of 50K and runs great. In the last three years, C&J Automotive has been giving me a hard time trying to push me to spend $$$ to replace this or that for a great running car. I'm retired, and I no longer have a job. Thus, I decided to come back to Rossi's. Today, they only charged me $51 for emission tests and state inspections! This is a reason many locals love this car shop. Because of its good business ethics, this car shop has been in business for 80 years. I will tell all my network friends again to come to this car shop whenever they need a car repair, and I hope Rossi's will be in business for another 80 years because we, generation after generation, need you here for us!!! read more

My wife's Subaru, had a nail in her back driver's side tire. So i contacted my friend and fellow yelper Tony C. He reccomended Rossi's tires. I called then up and they said to had on over. There was a car already on the lift. When that car was finished, they put the Subaru up and inspected the tire. The pulled the nail and plugged it up. They drove the car around and the mechanic said all finished. I said awesome, what's the damage. He replied "No Charge." I pulled out some cash to tip him for his service. Friend recommended I go here to get a single tire replaced, but I could have gone to a junkyard and gotten better service. Just like other reviews, the customer service from the older (55-60 years) gentleman was horrible, and he spoke to the mechanics with an attitude and like garbage. I told him I had a nail in one of my tires and just needed it repaired or replaced. He stopped listening mid way through and started yelling at one of the mechanics. Whatever. I gave him my keys and also the key to the wheel locks. $90 for a single tire and they didn't put the wheel lock back on, but gave me the key for the wheel lock back. I didn't notice it until my mechanic told me when it was getting inspected there was a lug nut missing. Seriously, who replaces a tire and doesn't check to make sure all the lug nuts are in? Also, when I was here waiting, the same older gentleman was "helping" another customer out front, speaking to him like he's an idiot, while also telling the customer he didn't know what was wrong with his car. Told him to come back tomorrow, because the mechanic was off on Monday. Meanwhile the customer drives off as his car is in worse condition than it was when he brought it there. Avoid this place. Clearly there's some incompetent people working here. read more

With six cars we have been going to Bob Rossi at Rossi Tire and Service on City Line avenue for over 20 years. We have never had an issue with their work. We have however always had an issue with their attitude and customer service. Regardless of attitude, we continued to use Rossi as our auto mechanics because this is a business relationship. We're not looking for friends, we are looking to get our cars fixed and they deliver; so we are willing to accept a certain level of rudeness. The last straw came on Friday, December 13th 2019. After 20 years of business, inspections and repairs, we will no longer use Rossi, and we will no longer recommend them to friends. Last week, the "Check Electrical System", light lit on the dashboard of our Ford Explorer. As the battery drained, the headlights dimmed and the electronics stopped working. It seemed reasonable that the alternator was not charging the battery. Sounds reasonable, but I'm not a mechanic; that's why we took it to Bob Rossi. Bob told my wife that he would have to replace the battery for $188 before he could diagnose the problem. Fearing Rossi's reaction my wife asked me to call back. I asked if he could start the car and check whether the alternator was generating a charge. Bob became very defensive and asked me whether or not I trusted him. I was unable to get another word into the conversation after that as he next asked me if we had ever brought a car to him before. With 20 years of business I think it's reasonable that he should at least recognize my name. After numerous unsuccessful attempt to rejoin the conversation, Bob told me that he had a lot of other cars to work on and that he would put mine at the end of the line. I decided to pick my car up before he could get to it. When I picked it up, there was no work done and they handed me my key without saying a word. No one tried to speak to me when I left. I'm not leaving Rossi Tire and Service because of a problem with their work. I'm leaving because they have awful customer service. They have already missed two chances to discuss this problem. First on the phone and second when I picked up the car. From my experience with Rossi over 20 years, and from reading other reviews, this is representative of their "high standards of respectful service". If Rossi would like the opportunity to discuss this matter further with me, then they can call or email me. I've been sharing my contact information and availability with them for over 20 years. Have you ever been to a place where they acted like they're doing you a favor for servicing your car? This is the exact opposite. The guys are happy to service your car. And they stand by their work which is outstanding. They are honest and open and take pains to let you know exactly what the issues are. We bought a set of tires several years ago-two of them went flat. Bob quickly diagnosed the issue, fixed them, and did n't charge me a dime! BTW they are excellent for more than just tires. We've gone there for engine issues as well with several cars over the years and have been more than satisfied with their service. Go there for your car needs. read more

40 bucks a piece to mount and balance a tire. 160 for all four. Took the car to Mavis Tire who uses a hunter road force balancing machine and they charged me 59 dollars for all 4 which I was really surprised about. I expected it to me around 20-25 dollars a tire. When I called Meineke and Wilkie Lexus they were 25 dollars a tire. Not saying to not give them a shot if you need a tire but do some price shopping because they were more than double Mavis. I really wanted to get it done there too since its a local business. read more

No Gene. About 3-4 years ago I dropped off a green (i think its the year) 2002 Mazda Millenia where I was charged $1500 for a job that only lasted 6 months. I since sold the car right after for $1000 because I was honest and told the buyer that it is leaking antifreeze from the gasket. The car was a gift to me and was worth $2-3k at the time. Your failed repair cost more than what I sold it for. About 3 years ago I had a 2005 Silver Nissan Murano that I had towed in to you because it kept stalling. You charged me $200 for a cheap inferior battery and took my expensive (still working) Interstate branded battery. I know it still work because it started my car a dozen times after it stalled. A bad battery does not do that and I specifically told your techs! I also brought in my 2004 RSX to you about 1-2 or 3 years ago consecutively. First year got ripped off on tires. You guys gave me a minor credit on my old tires saying that 1 or 2 had decent tread left and probably sold it for a lot more. No Gene. Your staff did not pass my safety inspection recently on my RSX. They only passed my emissions inspection because I drove it less than 5000 miles for the year. I am assuming that your manager was trying to hard sell me. When I declined the struts they failed my safety inspection. Your manager wanted close to $800 to replace my 2 front struts on the RSX. How much is the pair of front struts for the RSX? $200-$250 for a good brand on ebay. I understand the up charge so I give it to you and say that it is $300 for the struts and that is on the very high end. Then $500 for labor? It will take an hour on each side. The fronts are so easy. Lift the car up. Remove the wheel. Remove a few bolts near the struts then remove 3 more bolts on the top of the engine bay. Use a spring compressor and take the spring out from the strut. Replace the old spring on the new strut and Voila! I can do it in an hour easy without a lift. So that means you are charging me $250 per labor hour. That is almost double what other shop charges. I recently got a quote to replace 4 springs on my 2016 new car for $500 which is a lot more work since rear seats needs to be removed to access the struts. You are charging me the same price just to replace 2 front easy ones. You want me to post pictures on yelp of your receipt compared to other shop quotes in the area for the same work? Let me know and I will post the receipts for you. I would email you but I sincerely never want to be at your shop anymore even though I have a lifetime free tire rotation for the tires that I bought from you which I never needed in the first place. I simply had too many bad experiences. 4 times is more than enough chances. Of the maybe 1 of thousands of transactions from ebay, to amazon and to yelp... you are the FIRST and ONLY negative feedback that I have ever left for anyone. That alone speaks volume. read more

I had been putting off getting tires forever even though I desperately needed them. I called this place upon my boyfriend's recommendation. Rossi's quoted me over $200 cheaper than the place I was planning on getting them. This included to have them installed and balanced. I came in a little late for my appointment on a busy Saturday morning but they assured me that they would find time. After looking at my car, they told me I had been driving with the wrong sized tires on this entire time. Fortunately, the were able to put four new tires of the right size of my car. They called me and let me know it was ready within a couple hours. Everyone that worked here was very nice and went out of their way to help me. Never been so humiliated in my life. Been taking our two cars here for a couple of years and dealing with a grumpy mechanic and disinterested manager. But in August, when the former claimed the minivan was fine (it was not), that is was my driving that was the problem, and then offered to give me a lesson...we had had enough. Guess what, #womenalsodrive. And we can drive to another shop where the mechanics treat female customers with respect and do not infantalize them. Never going back. read more

Bought a set of four General Grabber tires August 14,2010. 18,000 miles later the tires failed inspection due to cracks at the bottom of the tread. All four tires had the same problem. This happened the day before my inspection expired so I was in a tough spot. Had to buy a new set of tires. I had another experience where I brought my truck in for tire rotation and was told I needed front brakes. I told them I would take care of it. Took it to my mechanic and he inspected the brakes and told me they were fine. These combined with other less than satisfactory experiences over the years has tought me to never use Rossi again. read more

Poor customer service is an understatement for this place of business. If you do not like your job you should move on. A business is supposed to provide service to their customers. I wanted to get my car service for a tire that needed to be plug. They sent me on a wild goose chase for 5 hrs to get it plug. I came first thing in the morning at 7:30. I was told I would have to come back because other cars were in front of me. I request to wait I was told no. I was told to come back 2 hrs later. I came back 3 hours later. The same gentleman I spoke with seen me he helped another guy. I walked to the door and he walked right pass me and didn't acknowledge me to say I be right with you. The guy he help came out his car and asked are your being helped? I said no. I said I have a flat and need a plug. He spoke with the guy who walked past me and said come back at 1pm. I said to the that guy this would be my third time having to come back at 1pm just to get service. I requested for some air in my tire which was done. Customer service at this location has gone down drastically. I would not recommend anyone to receive services from them. In addition, the same guy who walk passed me likes to up charge for services at this location so be aware. I said the only thing they could do for me is put air in my tires or plug. But they can't even provide that now. I am no longer a customer. read more

I needed ties for my late model Avalon Hybrid. Search the internet for possible ties and pricing and then remembered Rossi Tires. The second set of tires I purchased was from Rossi Tires back in the early 80s. reasonably priced and excellent service. Stopped by to have a nail removed from tire (fixed for free). Asked for a recommendation, General Altrimax. Checked few more places for ties and pricing, then placed an order at Rossi's. Next Saturday morning stopped by and new installed in 45 minutes. Free tire rotation and flat tire service priced reasonably. I like the traction and drives well on wet surfaces. Nice family business. Will purchasing tires for my wife's vehicle this fall. read more

Rossi repair shop kept asking for an extension close to 2 weeks for only replacing a water pump! They gave an excuse for everything; from a car running into the building to I am next in line! The sad part was they didn't even call to inform me if my car was done or not! So I had to go to Rossi repair shop and have a meeting with the owner, salesmen, and mechanic to inform them to stop ignoring me and yes when will my car be done! I have purchased a couple tires from Rossi's over the years. All used, but certified as being good to drive, et cetera. Recently I was taking a trip out of state. I noticed I needed a new tire before I left, so I went to Rossi's since I was on a very limited budget. I had them give me a used one and I was good to go. The following day, I noticed another one of my tires was in need of being replaced. (Something they didn't tell me the first day I went in). When I went in, the gentleman proceeded to tell me that none of my tires were going to make it to my destination and "quite frankly, they aren't even safe for you to drive around town!". Conveniently, they had no more used tires in my size so they quoted me for 4 new tires for a price of $300. I did not have the money, so I called other places around me for quotes. I had the one tire replaced and what do you know: The two I didn't have replaced not only made it to my destination...but all across New England AND back. I'm giving them a two, since their used tires are only $40. However, for trying to sell me 4 new tires under the premise of "safety", knowing full well that I had limited financial means and that the tires would actually get me to my destination was just bad business. read more

I've taken my car here twice and they are amazing! The first time I popped my tire right in front of their shop and they had a tire out, ready and waiting when I came around the corner after it happened to ask for help plus they barely charge me for it. The second time I thought I had a leak or hole in my tire after feeling air leaking out. Instead of ripping me off and overcharging me like most shops would have tried, they just fixed a dent in the rim and sent me on my way. They didn't even charge me, just asked that I throw a tip to the guy who fixed it. I will never take my car to a dealership or another shop again, these guys are the most honest, attentive, down-to-earth and nicest guys around! read more

Excellent customer service. I had a nail in my tire and needed an oil change. I arrived at 8:00a.m. and was out within 30 minutes. The cost was close to what most places in Wisconsin charge for an oil change for both services. I haven't had an issue with my tire since and is been 2 1/2 months. Today after lots of "bells and whistles" when off in my car on the way to work, it totally broke down as I drove into Rossi's. Even though he was already working on several other cars, Frank immediately helped me, trying to charge my battery. Eddie invited me into the air conditioned office to wait as it was very humid and raining, and offered me a bottle of water. While I waited for the verdict, I lost count of how many cars pulled in, just like me, needing last minute help. They never made anyone feel like they were too much. They organized everyone, told them where to park, checked out tires (one man who drove in was on crutches and was handicapped), kept on going. I got a ride from my sister to work.
