I don't know why there are two separate listings for Rossano's Auto Sales and Rossano's Service Station-- it's one little shop that does both. But I've experienced both, so I'll write a review for each.
I bought a car from Rossano when my old one was finally too beat up to be drivable. I'm writing this review very belatedly, but that's probably a good thing because I can now tell you that the Buick I bought last October continues to hold up beautifully. Mr. Rossano sold me that mythical car everybody wants to buy: a 2001 Buick with 19,000 miles on it, with only one owner before me (yes, that mythical old woman who only drove it to the grocery store). It was a bargain, and it's such a great car.
My old car died two days before I was supposed to make a long road trip (500 miles each way). That was when I bought the Buick. This particular model often has a problem with the intake manifold gasket (I think that's what it was), so Rossano wanted to replace it preemptively. I said, "Yes, please, but can I bring it to you after my trip?" He said, "I don't want you driving all that way before I fix it. It's not safe."
I pleaded with him (because somehow I felt he had the power to forbid me to go-- I realize this sounds ridiculous, but I guess I fell for the whole dad thing), and eventually he acknowledged that this problem does not usually emerge before 50,000 miles. When I explained how important the trip was to me, he relented, as long as I promised to bring the car right back to him for the repair as soon as I returned home.
I told my (actual) dad about this whole thing, and he said, "You could have just offered to pay him the money for the repair up front, so he'd know you wouldn't take it somewhere else." I laughed and said, "I don't think it was about the money." Sure enough, when I returned from my trip, Mr. Rossano replaced the gasket and looked almost offended when I asked him how much I owed him for the repair. "I'm not charging you for that."
I live in Massachusetts now, but if (heaven forbid) my car were totaled, I would seriously consider driving back to PA if Rossano's had a car for sale. read more
