Beware. After multiple contract and photo reviews prior to the job starting, the team lead arrived with alcohol on his breath and claimed the tree and branch removal exceeded the scope of work. He then asked, was I paying or was the HOA paying? I suspect to possibly bargain for more money? After addressing these facts with the team lead he began to yell at me as I walked back inside my home. I notified the Ross office via email and phone of the issue and received no response. These actions are grossly unprofessional and place a liability on the company that I hope will be addressed internally. I will not recommend this company to my HOA. read more

Dan came and gave me a estimate which was much better than any other tree service that I contacted in the area and they came today 13 October and did a fantastic job. They were raking up leaves that were falling from the trees and they made sure that the limbs never touched my home that were hanging over the house.. These guys came with about 9 different guys. We had one Sycamore to take out in the front yard and 2 tall pine trees in the back. We also had our Bradford Pear tree trimmed. These guys had great manners and were professional. They took out the trees at a cost lower than several competitor bids. They cleaned up the rubbish from the trees falling except for the grinding pieces. You need something to fill the hole. If you don't want them it has to be in your quote to remove them too. Pine trees drop a lot of debris when they are being taken down. They raked, used a blower, and hauled away all of what fell from the tree in addition to leaves that had fallen prior to their visit. They left the yard looking nice. They ground the stumps. They are so busy that it took a few weeks for them to get to cutting them down after the initial consultation. But, it was worth it to me. We had another company take out dead trees last year. The other company didn't do nearly as good of a job cleaning up afterwards and weren't as cheap. We almost didn't use Ross Tree Service because of the other reviews. We were on a budget so we decided to take our chances. We are glad we did! The only other thing I would caution is to get everything you want done in writing. Don't accept any verbal additions without it being written on the contract. We did have to call the office about a misunderstanding between an un-updated quote and what was initially done. They were nice about it. Overall, we are happy. read more

After seeing vans and trucks of several tree removal contractors in front of my house over a week, my neighbor recommended Ross Tree Service to me. She said that the owner was an "arborist" and would do a good job. I remembered the word "arbol" from high school Spanish...so I gave them a call. The owner, Dan, came out and explained what all of the trees in my backyard are; why some blossom and others do not; which should bear fruits or nuts; and which could use attention. The total cost of RTS cutting down two smaller trees that were dying, all of the branches that were hanging over the roof of our house, removing some poison ivy and other, miscellaneous trimming was less (I can't remember if it was a full 2/3 less, but it was definitely 50% less) than any of the other "tree cutting" companies that I had called. Almost anyone can cut your trees, however...Ross Tree Service can help maintain your property. That being said, the receptionist may be overwhelmed...so call back if necessary and don't take off of work until they are confirmed to be on the way to perform services for you. It's well worth the extra effort and I appreciate that they prioritize fallen trees over basic trimming services. read more

If I could select zero stars, I would. It took them over a week to get back to me to schedule the initial appointment for estimation. After deciding that the estimate was in our budget we decided to proceed with their quote later that day and called to schedule service. We wanted to get the tree removed before we left for vacation, and I made this known to the scheduler. I was told I'd get a call back to schedule service. Several days passed and I never received a call back until yesterday morning they said a crew would be in our area and would be on site later that day. When I pressed them to get a time range, they could not offer me any specifics. Because they were being so flakey, I chose to work from home to oversee the work. No one ended up coming. I called them twice this morning and finally someone called back and said they would have a crew here today. So I chose to work from home for a second day in a row. To my surprise, Dan Ross showed up... without a crew to do any of the work. Dan was rude and unprofessional and would not speak to me about the mixup and offered no help. As the owner of the company, I expected him to be concerned about a customer who had a poor customer service experience, but he wasn't. About 20 minutes after he left, their office called to apologize and offered a poor excuse for their lack of communication. I will never use them again. read more

The crew that removed the trees did an excellent job for a fair price that included stump removal; the arborist/owner was also very nice. My main concern was that our home inspector told us we had two tulip poplars and he recommended getting them removed for safety reasons. The arborist said we only had one and another tree that was diseased. However a couple months later Lo and behold--that massive tree right behind our house is actually a tulip poplar! Not if we want to get it removed we'd be out an extra 1200 to rent a crane. I tried calling back to ask about this and another tree that looked like it was dying--left a message, no response. read more

Great team, fast work, and excellent skill in handling and maneuvering around difficult lots. They've got a packed schedule, but they're prompt and responsive with sorting out scheduling and getting crews out to work on time. Mr. Ross is super knowledgeable about trees and plants and has an eye for detail and problems that other people would easily overlook, and is honest about his and his company's work. Dan Ross came out to our property in Marshall and gave us a bid on 5+ trees and old shrubs to remove and some general trimming. He had some good observations about the health of various trees on the lot. The bid was provided the in writing promptly and professionally. The crew arrived on time when they said they would, did a great job, and left a clean site with no debris. Traci in the office was very helpful, called me back a couple of times to get additional info (I changed the order once) and called me before the crew showed at my request so I could be there. I called three tree services to get me quotes, Ross was by far the fastest one out there, got me a in-depth quote in hand right away, which ended up being cheaper as well then the competition. The guys came out, were incredibly fast at getting down a very large and very badly located tree. Worst customer service. Took off a day from so that I could be home when they did the work. It was mid morning and no one had showed up, so I tried calling the office only to get voice mail. When I finally got a hold of someone I was told that they don't work in the rain. That's understandable but if someone would have told me that originally, I would have gone work in the morning. So, getting my tree work was delayed. When I hired them I told them that I had my driveway being repaved and needed the tree work to be completed beforehand. It took weeks and multiple phone calls to get my trees removed, trimmed, and tree trunk grounded. If you have a problem or just want to talk to the owner or arborist good luck. I ask the owner to call me but he never called. I would not recommend this company due to the lack of communication and customer service. read more

The service of actually cutting the trees was fine, but booking the service and working with their receptionist was a nightmare. Zero professionalism, zero follow through, waited over two weeks to have stumps removed after initial trees were cut down (and this was after chasing them with several phone calls). The kicker is when I called to inquire about the stumps, the receptionist acted shocked and said, "WELL! We have emergencies that need to be handled due to the storm, so those come first!" Great. No problem. All you have to do is communicate to existing clients that there's a hold up. Also, saying emergencies take precedence insinuates that you value your new customers more than following through with the work you've already been paid to do. Classy, guys. read more
