I couldn't be happier with Freedom Tree Service! They did an amazing job removing a large tree and the old shrubs from the front of my yard, and everything looks fantastic. Johnny was my arborist, and he was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and great to work with. The entire crew was wonderful, and their pricing was very reasonable. I was especially impressed that they even called Miss Utility to have the lines properly marked before grinding the stump. They went the extra mile to make sure everything was done safely and correctly. Thank you, Johnny and crew, for the excellent work! I would absolutely use Freedom Tree Service again for anything in the future. Look no further--use Freedom Tree Service! You won't regret it! read more

This is the second time our family has used Freedom Tree Service. The first time this amazing crew was able to take a significantly sized tree off our chimney/roof that crashed during a storm. Their level of skill and expertise to dismantle that safely was impressive and appreciated. The next time we needed them to take down another large tree that had fallen on our garage. Once again they went above and beyond to get here before the holiday weekend and in the heat to clear it. Additionally, they helped us spot out other unhealthy trees and branches and understand which needed to be handled now and the timelines for the others. Their level of knowledge, expertise, and dedication to safety truly makes them a reliable choice. The personal service coordination of quotes and invoices through their office is professional and diligent, so nice to work with. And after all that, the followup communications to ensure everything was handled were excellent. Thanks Freedom Tree Service to all your crew!!! read more

They trimmed and shaped our Cherry trees and Crepe Myrtle's. Excellent work and neatly done

I can't recommend Freedom Tree Service enough. We used them to "clean up" a tree after a limb fell on our roof during a late spring hail storm. The goal was to be remove any additional limbs that posed a threat to our house/roof. Howard came to our home for a free estimate. His quote was, by far, the best of the four I received. On the day of service, he and his crew were professional and cleaned up afterwards. I would 100% hire these guys again, and have referred them to my neighbors. Quality, affordable work--a rare find these days! read more

I contacted Freedom Tree Service to cut down 2 cedar trees that had exposed roots growing towards my patio. Johnny came out to my home and did a thorough job at investigating the problem and explaining all of my options. Once the services were done, the guys did a great job at cleaning up my yard and you can't even tell that the exposed roots were even in the ground. The trees were cut down to stumps and other trees were nicely pruned. I'd definitely use them again and you should too. read more

Freedom Tree Service was 1 of 3 companies from which I got estimates. Explanation of what needed to be done was clear and it was obvious they would be careful to protect other trees, fence and 2 nearby homes. The work was done efficiently by a hard working crew of 4 including the owner. The clean up was amazing leaving our driveway and yard area cleaner than when they arrived. Excellent service at the best price! read more

Friendly, funny, expert knowledge, on time, quick easy scheduling, competitive pricing and great communication. Sounds like a unicorn these days I know but it was my experience. Howard, Shannon and crew did a great job from A-Z - I am grateful for the work and service. read more

Top notch, great people to work with. The owner, who was actually onsite for the job, took particular interest in specific concerns we had regarding tree health and potentially problematic root travel. We plan to contact them again the next time we need any tree service. Hire these folks with complete confidence. read more

Really thorough estimate process, including the arborist checking the overall health of the trees in our yard. We really liked that Freedom broke down the estimate into options so that we could decide what our budget would allow. The project included removing two trees and crowning a third. When the day came for the work to be done, the three man team worked efficiently and cleaned up the area. Zero issues! Side note: Another local company has been doing work for a neighbor and we have been less than impressed with their crew (noisy, too many people just hanging around doing nothing) so I was happy to come across the great reviews for Freedom. Highly recommend Freedom Tree Service to anyone needing tree removal, crowning, etc. read more

We had several large trees removed and stumps ground. The trees were very close to homes so it was quite a precarious operation. Howard and the crew were very professional in the field. Shannon and MaryAnne were great to work with coordinating the project. read more

Outstanding work! The service guys were very professional and efficient. Highly recommended

When a very large tree in an adjoining property fell against our house Freedom Tree Service took care of the problem in fine fashion. Not only did they take the tree down but throughout the process they were extremely careful not to damage our AC unit which was right under the tree. Same goes for our Azalea bushes which could have been injured but were not harmed in any way. Then after all the cutting and heavy lifting was done the crew raked up every last bit of debris and left our yard in perfect order. In short, they did a very difficult job in a completely professional manner despite having to work in 98°F temps with high humidity! Based on our very positive experience with Freedom Tree Service I can recommend them to you without any reservations whatsoever.. read more

These guys are awesome! We had about $5000 worth of work done last summer. They showed up on time, and with all their equipment got right to work. They knocked the job out in just a few hours. I will definitely be calling them for more jobs. read more

Quick overview: I was blown away by Freedom Tree and give them my very highest recommendation. Context: My wife and I needed several large trees removed, a few more trees trimmed, and a giant tree thinned. The job took two crews working here from 9:00-4:30. Experience: Since this was a large job, I went to Checkbook.org and AngiesList.com, created a list of highly-rated companies with a good track record and asked for three bids. Freedom Tree was one of the highest-rated companies and had the lowest bid. Here are some specifics about my experience: * Estimate: Howard came to look at our property to give us an estimate. He was on time, incredibly knowledgeable, and I especially liked that he never said, "You need to..." He always gave options with pros/cons of every choice. The whole thing felt like a collaboration. Along the way, I learned so much about trees and things I should be aware of moving forward. Freedom Tree e-mailed me their estimate, the same day, that looks like it came off of a spreadsheet - very easy to understand with options clearly outlined (The other two estimates were hand-written and difficult to decipher). Their office person, Melissa, was always easy to reach and highly professional. * Scheduling: I work at home and am frequently on client calls with some weeks being especially busy. After expressing this to Freedom Tree, they were highly accommodating to fit my schedule. * Work Day: Freedom Tree showed up at 9:00 as they said, and did a phenomenal job. I think of the work done at our house in two categories - taking trees down, and trimming/thinning. The result of taking down the tree is the same no matter who does it (assuming they do it properly and don't damage anything in the process - which is not a given in this industry). But trimming, and especially thinning trees is part biology and dendrology (the study of trees), part physics, and part aesthetics. We have a massive tree in our front yard that started hanging too low, was overhanging the roof, was a little too dense (potential danger in high winds), and had a lot of dead branches. Freedom Tree was brilliant and what we ended up with was stunning and will hold us for many years to come. I especially appreciate that they wanted my input as to how far to go. Their workers were all friendly and clearly competent. They really like working for Freedom Tree too - it didn't seem like just another gig to them. Howard told me that he pays medical benefits and takes good care of them - and it showed. Their equipment seemed top notch - how they used their bucket truck in thinning our big tree was especially impressive. One thing stood out - I asked if they could save some of the dead branches from the big tree so I could use them for firewood (those 1-2 inch branches are great in starting a fire in the fireplace). Not only did they save them, but they cut them up in firewood sizes for us. Totally not expected or anticipated - but it showed an attitude of people who are really customer-focused. During the work, the yard was a mess as you would expect. There were a lot of leaves, branch fragments, wood chips from the chain saw, etc. But at the end, they took out blowers and cleaned up well. The property looked better than when they got there. Other than the actual tree work, there was no evidence that they were there. I typically don't write reviews, and when I do, they are usually not this long - but Freedom Tree did such an exceptional job that I felt that such stellar work deserved a proper write-up. read more

Freedom Tree Service did a great job performing extensive trimming on a a very large Southern Magnolia that was encroaching both on our neighbor's property and on our house. They did a great job at a reasonable price. We highly recommend them. read more

They have taken down at least 20 trees for me at my church. I have worked with Howard Curtis who is polite and professional giving me great pricing and he and his crew have done excellent work read more

Howard said it was such a small job that it was not worth sending a big truck to our area (Lake Ridge). So he did it on the spot himself and didn't charge us anything. We really appreciate it, and we're VERY pleased with the outcome. read more

Met all of my expectations. I contacted three tree services asking about tree trimming, and each provided fairly similar quotes, but I liked Freedom Tree Service's quote and the estimator's approach and asked them to proceed. The work was completed while I was away but it was done when expected with no issues. read more

Can not recommend these folks more. They did an amazing job trimming my Bradford pear WAY DOWN at a competitive price. They listened to my requests and went above and beyond the call of duty. All the workers I spoke with were also very kind. If you are in the NoVa area and do not use these folks you are missing out. read more

Exceptional Is the word to describe our experience .. from beginning to end. Kyle came out to do the cost assessment after I had interviewed 3 other top companies and he gave the best advice and best prices, plus the company was highly rated in Consumer Checkbook. He was very accessible via phone and text and his front office staff (Melissa) was wonderful in scheduling and coordinating. His employees have been with the company for years and are conscientious. It was a pleasure working with Freedom in every respect and that's not always the case in hiring a company to cut down or thin out your trees . We had a large Maple thinned out and 2 tall Pines that were up against the house removed and their stumps ground. The crew had a machine that could grind up the debris so they removed everything they cut rather than leave large logs on the property . We will definitely call Freedom again read more

Had a variety of projects done including tree removal, pruning, and cutting firewood. Crew did a very nice job, and were friendly and respectful. They were also able to get me in early as I had a time constraint. Highly recommend based on initial visit. read more

I am extremely happy with the service performed by Freedom Tree Service, Inc. Freedom Tree Service did an excellent job! They were on time, thorough, had great customer service. Freedom performed the work and when finished, the jobsite was left perfect! I would highly recommend using Freedom Tree Service for any tree work you may have! read more

This company really is the best. I made a mistake in the way I was attempting to bring down a tree. My son and I both thought it was best to have a professional take it from there. Everything on the internet indicated it was going to be difficult to control. Howard took it down by hand and charged me nothing. He assessed several other trees that others suggested should come down. He explained why they didnt need to come down. He really is an arborist and knows what is necessary and what isnt. He didnt know what others charged me but when i asked him about a particlular tree like the ones I paid for, his price would have been about 40%. Live and learn and its best to learn from the mistakes of others. So take it from me use Freedom Tree service and no one else. read more

Freedom Tree Service was exceptional! The arborist was responsive and provided a timely estimate, and the team worked very hard. My parents needed their enormous oak tree removed from their front yard, but had several obstacles making the removal more difficult. Not only did the gentlemen from Freedom remove the tree quickly, they were able to work around the obstacles without damaging anything in the yard. They also assisted us in cutting the wood to fit our wood-burning stove, and helped to move and stack the wood. The whole process was fascinating and our interaction was very enjoyable. read more

Johnny and company at Freedom have done numerous jobs for us, from taking down large trees to trimming trees/shrubbery to grinding stumps. They are professional, respectful, and always do a great job and meet the budget. Also, they are responsive and timely! read more

They did not show up in masks, and didn't have any when they were requested to wear them.

I used Freedom Tree Service last year and they are very reasonably priced and their customer service was great considering what kind of business it is. Meaning most of the tree companies in Northern Va are not good business men nor are they reliable like Freedom Tree service was. They did a great job and the owner Johnny was a pleasure to deal with. He seemed like a good Christian man who was concerned for others. We've tried other companies like JL Tree and Richard's tree service but they were a joke and clearly didn't care about their workmanship or their customers. I'll never use anyone else as long as I live in Fairfax County. read more

Couldn't be happier with their communication, price, and work. I called two other companies. The Arborist did not come out when they promised to provide a quote. JL tree service was 30% more expensive. Freedom responded to my request for a quote the same day, came as promised to do the quote, were a reasonable price, even recommended additional work I needed but hadn't noticed. They also did the work earlier than expected, communicated throughout the process, and did excellent work removing 2 trees (one in a difficult spot ), 2 huge hollies, a dead cedar, ground 2 stumps and trimmed a maple. All for less than $1000. Would definitely use them again, highly recommend. read more

As caretaker of my parent's property, I chose Freedom years ago, because they had certified arborists on staff, had competitive pricing, and always responded to calls. They have tackled some very tricky removals over the years, but have always been on spot. They have never let me down. In fact, this is Friday, August 26th, and we are expecting a hurricane to blow through tomorrow--they arrived -- TODAY-- before I expected, to remove two potentially dangerous trees. Call them for good service, and thanks, Freedom. read more

After getting estimates from a few other tree service companies, I thought I'd need a second mortgage to remove some damaged and dangerous (standing dead) trees that were near my house and sheds. Luckily, my neighbor recommended Freedom Tree Service (Johnny). I can't say enough about the fast service, the reasonable price, and the professional crew. Very large trees were dropped with no damage to surrounding trees. We live in the woods, so this is saying a lot. This company is top-notch. They've gained a customer for life - and I'm sure they have many others. read more
